Updating a previous report, the Texas Rangers will send 1B Chris McGuiness to Triple-A Round Rock. The Class 5 player was returned after spending the spring with the Cleveland Indians.

Cleveland Indians general manager Chris Antonetti mentioned a mix of veterans and youngsters who could potentially factor into the team's plans at designated hitter. Antonetti said Rule 5 pick 1B Chris McGuiness could get a look as well as C Yan Gomes and INF Mike Aviles. OFs Ezequiel Carrera and Tim Fedroff are also seen as potential options. "We have a number of internal alternatives that we'll look to," Antonetti said.

Texas Rangers 1B Chris McGuiness led the Arizona Fall League with 27 RBIs. He hit .283 with four homers in 92 at-bats.

Texas Rangers 1B Chris McGuiness, one of the team's rising prospects, fell a triple shy of the cycle and drove in three runs as Surprise beat Peoria, 8-4, for its first win of the season in Arizona Fall League action. McGuiness, who had 23 homers and 77 RBIs for Double-A Frisco this year, went 4-for-5 with an RBI double in the third inning and a two-run homer in the fourth a day after going hitless in his AFL debut.
