Tony Cingrani Fantasy Baseball News, Notes, Rumors and Statistics
The latest Tony Cingrani MLB and fantasy baseball news
Fri, 17 May 2013 13:00:56 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Mike Leake is scheduled to make his next start against the New York Mets Tuesday, May 21. Fantasy Tip: Even though Tony Cingrani has pitched well since being called up, he's not guaranteed to stick around when Johnny Cueto (lat) comes off the disabled list next week. Dusty Baker is usually loyal to those with experience, which Leake has over Cingrani.
Wed, 15 May 2013 14:07:15 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto (lat) is set to return from the disabled list and start Monday, May 20, which is the date for SP Mike Leake's next start. However, The Cincinnati Enquirer's John Fay doesn't think that necessarily means Leake will be bumped from the rotation. Fantasy Tip: Make plans to put Cueto back on your active fantasy baseball roster. Although Tony Cingrani (shoulder) had his start pushed back due to minor arm troubles, Leake still seems like the likely candidate to be bumped from the rotation. We won't know for sure until next week, though, so stay tuned.
Tue, 14 May 2013 14:05:04 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Tony Cingrani (shoulder) has been pushed back in the rotation because he's been dealing with shoulder soreness, according to manager Dusty Baker. Fantasy Tip: With Johnny Cueto (lat) nearing a return from the disabled list, this could affect Cingrani's short-term standing in the rotation if he can't make his next start. It could also mean that Mike Leake stays in the rotation. Stay tuned.
Wed, 08 May 2013 11:49:20 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto (lat) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Dayton Thursday, May 9, after he threw a successful bullpen session earlier this week. Fantasy Tip: Cueto is nearing a return to the starting rotation unless he suffers another setback. He will get his rotation post back, it's just a question of who will get bumped as a result, Tony Cingrani or Mike Leake. Stay tuned.
Tue, 07 May 2013 12:12:17 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto (lat) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session Monday, May 6, and didn't have any setbacks. Fantasy Tip: It's unclear when Cueto will throw next or when he'll embark on a minor league rehab assignment to build arm strength. The Reds will be cautious in bringing him back now after he already had one setback. Plus, it keeps them from making a decision on who to bump from the rotation when he returns. Mike Leake is probably the most vulnerable right now with Tony Cingrani pitching well.
Tue, 23 Apr 2013 17:05:45 -0700 Cincinnati Reds C Corky Miller started Tuesday, April 23, against the Chicago Cubs, catching SP Tony Cingrani, whom he has worked with extensively with Triple-A Louisville. "(Miller) is catching Cingrani tonight because he knows Cingrani," manager Dusty Baker said. "(C Devin Mesoraco) had to call him to ask advice about how to catch Cingrani. Now we have the advice-giver in house." It was Miller's first big-league start since Sept. 29, 2010.
Fri, 19 Apr 2013 11:13:34 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Tony Cingrani won his major league debut against the Miami Marlins Thursday, April 18, while allowing five hits (one solo homer) and striking out eight in 102 pitches. Fantasy Tip: Cingrani's major league debut as a starter couldn't have come at a better time, against one of the worst hitting teams in the majors. He doesn't have electric stuff, but his deception makes him effective on the bump. He should be owned in all leagues.
Thu, 18 Apr 2013 14:23:14 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto (lat) doesn't have a timetable for when he'll resume throwing, and he's eligible to return from the disabled list Tuesday, April 22. However, the longer he goes without throwing, the longer it'll take him to regain arm strength and return. "We want to make sure he's pain-free, has a good range of motion and base of strength," trainer Paul Lessard said. "He's feeling good. It could be a couple of days. It could be a couple more." Fantasy Tip: It seems extremely unlikely for Cueto to return from the DL next Tuesday since he has yet to resume throwing. The longer Cueto is out, the more value Tony Cingrani, who is filling in in the rotation, carries. Cingrani should be owned in all formats by now.
Thu, 18 Apr 2013 13:55:05 -0700 The Cincinnati Reds officially recalled SP Tony Cingrani from Triple-A Louisville for his start Thursday, April 18, and optioned RP Justin Freeman to Louisville in a corresponding move. Fantasy Tip: Pick up Cingrani wherever he's available. He has enticing strikeout upside for as long as he stays in Cincy's starting rotation. There's a good chance he goes back to Louisville when Johnny Cueto (lat) returns, though, so this is likely a short-term opportunity.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 13:32:10 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Tony Cingrani will be recalled from Triple-A Louisville to start against the Miami Marlins Thursday, April 18, taking the rotation spot of SP Johnny Cueto (lat). Cingrani has 14 1/3 scoreless innings to start the year at Louisville in three starts while giving up three hits and two walks. Fantasy Tip: If you're in need of pitching, don't hesitate to add Cingrani, who has dominated at Louisville in the early going. He has an excellent matchup against the punchless Marlins, too. It's unclear if Cingrani will stick when Cueto returns, but he'll have at least three or four starts to prove himself.
