Cincinnati Reds SP Tony Cingrani will be used as a reliever for the remainder of spring training and will pitch out of the bullpen this season, manager Bryan Price said Monday, March 16.
Fantasy Tip: Cingrani dealt with shoulder issues last season, and unless he somehow manages to work his way back into the rotation, he carries little fantasy value. Cingrani could prove to be a valuable middle reliever in mixed leagues, if he can keep his ratios low and move his K/9 closer to his 10.3 mark from 2013. Still, it is best to take a wait-and-see approach with Cingrani.

Cincinnati Reds SP Tony Cingrani (shoulder) has not resumed a throwing program, and he isn't being counted upon to help the team again this season. "At this point in time, I'm not anticipating him being back, simply because I don't think he would have enough time to get back and be able to help us in September," manager Bryan Price said Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Cincinnati Reds SP Homer Bailey (elbow) is headed to the 15-day disabled list with a flexor mass injury in his right elbow. He won't require surgery, and he's expected to return this season.
Fantasy Tip: Tony Cingrani (shoulder) has just begun a throwing program, so he won't be ready to take the vacant spot for a while. Scott Diamond or Dylan Axelrod could come up and take the spot. Both are just NL-only depth options.

Cincinnati Reds SP Tony Cingrani will be used out of the bullpen after he returns to form in the minors. Cingrani is 2-8 with a 4.55 ERA in 11 starts and two relief outings this year. "With a healthy starting five, that's where Tony can help us best this year," manager Bryan Price said. "We've seen him pitch very efficiently at times out of the bullpen."
Fantasy Tip: Cingrani has plenty to work on in the minors. He can be dropped in most mixed leagues now that he won't have a fantasy-relevant role moving forward barring an injury to the rotation.
