Tony Cingrani Fantasy Baseball News, Notes, Rumors and Statistics
The latest Tony Cingrani MLB and fantasy baseball news
Mon, 17 Jun 2013 13:46:02 -0700 Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker said SP Tony Cingrani will move to the bullpen. Fantasy Tip: Johnny Cueto (shoulder) is back from the disabled list and Mike Leake has pitched outstanding of late, leaving no room for Cingrani. You can hold onto him in deep NL-leagues and keeper formats, but otherwise he's not worth taking up space on your roster.
Sat, 15 Jun 2013 13:23:16 -0700 Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto (shoulder) will be activated from the 15-day disabled list to start against the Milwaukee Brewers Sunday, June 16. However, manager Dusty Baker said there's a chance that SP Tony Cingrani could stick around with the team as a reliever, given the bullpen's recent struggles.
Wed, 12 Jun 2013 12:49:21 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Tony Cingrani will likely return to Triple-A Louisville once Johnny Cueto (lat) returns from the disabled list, which could happen Sunday, June 16. Still, the organization has been impressed with the improvements he's made since being demoted. He has refined some of his secondary pitches and, chiefly, has cultivated a curveball that he worked on with Reds SP Homer Bailey and started throwing during his first big-league stint. There's now a much bigger difference between his slider and curve, which were previously nearly indistinguishable. Fantasy Tip: This should only further bolster Cingrani's status as a fantasy commodity when he's in the bigs, but mixed-leaguers will probably have to work around his potential shuttle duties. In many formats, of course, he's worth a stash.
Tue, 11 Jun 2013 18:33:41 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Tony Cingrani was recalled from Triple-A Louisville to start Tuesday, June 11, against the Chicago Cubs in place of the injured SP Johnny Cueto (shoulder). If all goes according to plan, Cueto would be activated Sunday, June 16, for his next turn in the rotation, meaning Cingrani would be headed back down to pitch for the Bats.
Mon, 10 Jun 2013 14:49:47 -0700 The Cincinnati Reds will call up SP Tony Cingrani to start Tuesday, June 11, against the Chicago Cubs. Fantasy Tip: Grab him where you can, but beware of his uncertain timetable in the bigs, which'll probably follow directly with the length of Johnny Cueto's absence with an aggravation of his lat injury.
Fri, 07 Jun 2013 15:18:13 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Tony Cingrani was scratched from his start for Triple-A Louisville Friday, June 7, for non-injury reasons. Fantasy Tip: Expect Cingrani to be called up to start early next week in place of Johnny Cueto (lat). However, Cingrani's stay in the rotation is likely to be short this time around, so temper your FAAB bids in mixed leagues.
Fri, 07 Jun 2013 13:47:45 -0700 The Cincinnati Reds recalled INF Henry X. Rodriguez from Triple-A Louisville Friday, June 7, and optioned SP Pedro Villarreal Louisville in a corresponding move. Rodriguez was hitting .279 with three home runs and 26 RBIs with Louisville. Villarreal allowed 10 hits and six runs in only 3 2/3 innings against the Colorado Rockies Wednesday, June 5. Fantasy Tip: Tony Cingrani wasn't on turn to start Wednesday evening. The Reds are expected to call him up for Johnny Cueto's (lat) next turn in the rotation. However, Cueto is expected to return soon, so Cingrani's stint in the rotation might be much shorter than his initial turn earlier this year.
Wed, 05 Jun 2013 13:56:28 -0700 Cincinnati Reds SP Johnny Cueto (lat) is back on the disabled list, but manager Dusty Baker said Cueto's injury isn't as serious as the one that forced him to the DL earlier this year. "It's the same thing," Baker said. "It's not nearly as serious. We've got to get rid of whatever's there. It's the injury he had before. He felt it a little bit after the game in Pittsburgh. He told us after the game he felt it again. It's not nearly as bad. Being cautious is the way to go at this thing." Baker said Cueto will only miss one or two starts. Fantasy Tip: Because the Reds don't expect Cueto to be out as long this time around, they could stick with Pedro Villarreal in the rotation until then, unless he has an awful outing Wednesday. Tony Cingrani remains an option, but if it's just a start or two, the Reds may prefer to keep him down on the farm.
Wed, 05 Jun 2013 13:16:31 -0700 The Cincinnati Reds placed SP Johnny Cueto (lat) on the 15-day disabled list with a lat injury Wednesday, June 5. Fantasy Tip: Cueto was scratched from his start Wednesday due to his setback. Cueto was on the DL earlier this year with the same injury. Pedro Villarreal will make a spot start tonight, but he probably won't be the option to replace Cueto in the rotation. Tony Cingrani performed nicely in Cueto's stead before, so it would make sense for the Reds to bring him back. Look to add Cingrani in all formats if that's the case.
Sat, 18 May 2013 10:22:57 -0700 The Cincinnati Reds have optioned SP Tony Cingrani to Triple-A Louisville. In a corresponding move, the team recalled 1B Neftali Soto. Fantasy Tip: Cingrani is going down to the minors to open up a spot in the rotation for Johnny Cueto, who is coming back from a lat injury. Owners could consider keeping Cingrani on their roster because he could return to the team in the near future.
