Red Sox | Brock Holt with day off

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 12:28:42 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B/OF Brock Holt is not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 28. OF Chris Young is starting in left field and is hitting seventh against Atlanta Braves SP Jhoulys Chacin.

Fantasy Tip: With so few games today, Young is worth a look as a low-priced daily flier, but his upside is limited facing a righty and not a lefty. In his career, Young has hit just .224 against righties.

Red Sox | Brock Holt starting at shortstop

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 10:06:53 -0700

Boston Red Sox INF/OF Brock Holt is batting sixth and starting at shortstop against Houston Astros SP Mike Fiers Saturday, April 23. SS Xander Bogaerts (wrist) is out of the lineup after he was hit in the wrist area by a pitch Friday, April 22.

Fantasy Tip: The versatile Holt has been serving primarily as Boston's left fielder but has also seen action at shortstop in 2016. He would likely remain at the position if Bogaerts is forced to miss an extended period of time. Holt is batting .286 with two home runs and 10 RBI through his first 42 at-bats and makes a decent option in daily fantasy games this afternoon.

Red Sox | Brock Holt appears at SS again

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 21:49:56 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Brock Holt finished up at shortstop Friday, April 22, against the Houston Astros after SS Xander Bogaerts (wrist) checked out early.

Fantasy Tip: Holt saw a few games at shortstop last season, and might be available there in fantasy leagues with lax eligibility requirements. For most others, he has two games there this season and might become eligible there soon, adding to his fantasy appeal.

Red Sox | Brock Holt fills in at shortstop

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 22:24:50 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Brock Holt moved from left field to shortstop in the game Wednesday, April 20, against the Tampa Bay Rays once SS Xavier Bogaerts (quadriceps) left with a strained quadriceps.

Fantasy Tip: Holt could see time at shortstop if Bogaerts is forced to miss playing time. Either way, Holt will be in the lineup and he remains a must-start in all AL-only fantasy leagues and some deeper mixed formats.

Red Sox | Brock Holt has career night

Fri, 08 Apr 2016 21:00:22 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Brock Holt hit his first career grand slam and drove in a career-high five runs in an 8-7 win over the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, April 8.

Fantasy Tip: Holt has eight RBI and multiple hits in all three games this year, and his eligibility at multiple positions make him a useful option in all formats.

Red Sox | Bad news for Rusney Castillo

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 14:18:43 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Rusney Castillo will be more of a fill-in outfielder in left and center field with OF Brock Holt seeing the majority of playing time in left, according to manager John Farrell. Holt played seven positions in 2015 and hit .280 with a .727 OPS. Castillo has been a disappointment and is 10-for-44 (.227) with a .542 OPS in 16 spring games entering Tuesday, March 29. OF Chris Young is expected to play left field against left-handers.

Fantasy Tip: Castillo will basically enter as the team's fifth outfielder, which makes him more of an AL-only commodity with a chance to earn his way onto rosters in deep mixed leagues if more of an opportunity opens up. Holt is valuable mainly due to his multi-positional eligibility, which gives his owners plenty of flexibility in deeper leagues. But Holt has very limited upside without much power or hope for a high batting average.

Red Sox | Brock Holt to start in LF

Tue, 29 Mar 2016 07:05:36 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Brock Holt will be the primary starter in left field against right-handed pitchers.

Fantasy Tip: Holt is a late grab in mixed leagues because he doesn't contribute a lot in any category.
