Red Sox | Brock Holt starting at third base

Thu, 21 May 2015 13:31:34 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Brock Holt is batting sixth and playing third base against the Texas Rangers Thursday, May 21.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has slipped into a mini-funk of late and is reeling through a 7-for-44 skid with just three runs and one RBI. There is upside, and Holt is capable, but FantasyScore players should likely aim higher than taking a desperation flier on him Thursday.

Red Sox | Pablo Sandoval out vs. lefty

Thu, 21 May 2015 13:23:00 -0700

Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval (knee) is not in the starting lineup against the Texas Rangers Thursday, May 21. OF Brock Holt is starting at third base and batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Sandoval ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats Thursday. He is 2-for-41 against left-handed pitchers this season, so this has the makings of a full platoon. Holt ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is stuck in a 4-for-26 funk with just one run and one RBI during the skid. FantasyScore players can take a desperation flier on Holt Thursday, but it is advised to aim higher.

Red Sox | Brock Holt starting in RF

Sat, 16 May 2015 15:39:05 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Brock Holt will start in left field and hit out of the leadoff spot Saturday, May 16.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) continues to draw into the lineup, thanks to his versatility all over the field. Holt has seven multi-hit games on the season, and he'll have tremendous upside while hitting out of the leadoff spot.

Red Sox | Pablo Sandoval out vs. lefty

Thu, 14 May 2015 14:52:54 -0700

Boston Red Sox 3B Pablo Sandoval is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 14. OF Brock Holt is starting at third base and hitting seventh in the batting order against Seattle Mariners SP Roenis Elias.

Fantasy Tip: Sandoval ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) is batting just .059 (2-for-34) with one RBI while hitting right-handed against lefties this year, so you should avoid him for the foreseeable future against southpaws. Holt ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is just 2-for-11 (.182) against lefties this year, making him a weak option for FantasyScore users. Elias has held lefty swingers to a .225 average and .669 OPS in his short career.

Red Sox | Xander Bogaerts sitting out Wednesday

Wed, 13 May 2015 09:47:20 -0700

Boston Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 13. OF Brock Holt is starting at shortstop and hitting sixth in the batting order against Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) is 17-for-50 (.340) with his only home run and four RBI against right-handed pitchers in 2015 in limited time. He's facing a pitcher that has been throwing well, though, but Holt could come in handy as a cheap sleeper option at FantasyScore.

Red Sox | Brock Holt again in RF

Tue, 05 May 2015 14:55:56 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Brock Holt is starting in right field again and is hitting seventh in the batting order against Tampa Bay Rays SP Drew Smyly Tuesday, May 5.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is seeing most of the starts in right field with Shane Victorino on the DL over both Allen Craig and Daniel Nava. Holt hit .293 (48-for-164) against left-handers last year, so facing the southpaw Smyly shouldn't be a huge turnoff to FantasyScore players if you're looking for a deep sleeper with value potential.

Red Sox | Brock Holt starting vs. Rays

Mon, 04 May 2015 12:03:15 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Brock Holt is stating in right field and batting seventh against the Tampa Bay Rays Monday, May 4.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has struggled of late with just a single hit over his last 17 plate appearances. It isn't a great matchup against Jake Odorizzi, either. Consider Holt a high-risk, high-reward FantasyScore option Monday.

Red Sox | Brock Holt starts in RF

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 13:18:22 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Brock Holt is starting in right field and hitting seventh in the batting order against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey Wednesday, April 29.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has 16 hits in 42 at-bats off the bench this year, and he may see more playing time in right field over the slumping Daniel Nava while Shane Victorino (hamstring) is on the disabled list. Holt has short-term AL-only value if he continues to see consistent playing time. He'll make for a sleeper play at FantasyScore this evening against a struggling Dickey.

Red Sox | Brock Holt to start in RF

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 11:39:26 -0700

Boston Red Sox OF Brock Holt will be the starting right fielder against the Toronto Blue Jays Monday, April 27.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has picked up at least one hit in eight of his last 10 games and is batting .457 so far this season. Owners on FantasyScore should consider Holt as a cheaper option to use in their lineups.

Red Sox | Brock Holt keeps hitting

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 00:39:18 -0700

Boston Red Sox 2B Brock Holt had two hits and walked three times in his team's 18-7 loss to the Baltimore Orioles Sunday, April 26.

Fantasy Tip: Holt ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is an enigma, as he is a man without a position at the moment. However, Holt is hitting .457 even though he does not play two or three of his team's games each week. Speculation is Red Sox manager John Farrell wants to get Holt more playing time, so Holt is worth the start when he plays, especially at this low salary.
