Seattle Mariners RP Tony Zych (shoulder) played catch Friday, May 27. There is still no timetable for him to take the next step of throwing off a mound.

Mariners | Tony Zych to resume playing catch

Fri, 13 May 2016 15:36:11 -0700

Seattle Mariners RP Tony Zych (shoulder) will resume playing catch Saturday, May 14, in his next step in his recovery from rotator cuff tendonitis.

Fantasy Tip: Zych has a ways to go before he's ready to return to the Seattle bullpen. He can likely be left to the waiver wire in the majority of leagues, but his 14.3 K/9 and 1.25 WHIP was really beneficial to those in the deepest of leagues when he was healthy. He's behind the likes of Joel Peralta, Joaquin Benoit and Steve Cishek for save opportunities, too.

Mariners | Tony Zych to resume throwing soon

Tue, 10 May 2016 15:23:38 -0700

Seattle Mariners RP Tony Zych (shoulder) said the inflammation in his is reduced, and he hopes to start throwing on flat ground by the weekend.

Fantasy Tip: Zych was expected to miss four to six weeks, so he won't be able to return anytime soon. With Joaquin Benoit closing in on a return from the disabled list, Zych will have several pitchers ahead of him for save opportunities. Unless you have an extra DL slot in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, it's OK to leave him to the waiver wire for now.

Mariners | Tony Zych out four to six weeks

Thu, 05 May 2016 14:21:08 -0700

Seattle Mariners RP Tony Zych (shoulder) will miss four to six weeks, according to manager Scott Servais.

Fantasy Tip: Zych should be replaced in the majority of seasonal leagues. Nick Vincent, Joel Peralta and Vidal Nuno have been eating up key spots out of the bullpen of late for the Mariners. Once healthy, Joaquin Benoit should return to be the No. 1 option behind closer Steve Cishek, though. There is currently limited fantasy value past Cishek in the Seattle 'pen.

Mariners | Tony Zych sidelined by injury

Tue, 03 May 2016 15:21:28 -0700

Seattle Mariners RP Tony Zych (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with rotator cuff tendonitis Tuesday, May 3. In a corresponding move, RP Steven Johnson was promoted from the minors.

Fantasy Tip: Zych is a key bullpen cog for the M's, and although he wasn't in a spot to garner saves, his strikeout-to-walk ratio (19-8) in 12 innings is what made him value in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Depending on what other options are available and how much roster space you have, you might want to drop him for better options.
