Houston Astros interim manager Tony DeFrancesco could return to Oklahoma City as the organization's Triple-A manager next season, although he appears to prefer having a spot on the coaching staff of incoming manager Bo Porter. He has also mentioned possibilities in the front office or player development.

Houston Astros SP Fernando Abad, who pitched four innings and allowed one run on four hits in his first start Saturday, Aug. 25, has been added to the rotation. "He's going to be in our rotation," interim manager Tony DeFrancesco said. "What you saw yesterday, four quality innings kept us in the game. I'm really excited about his aggressiveness, and I hope you see a difference from when he was here before as a reliever."

The Houston Astros named Tony DeFrancesco as their interim manager after dismissing manager Bradley Mills Saturday, Aug. 18. DeFrancesco was managing Triple-A Oklahoma City. General manager Jeff Luhnow will spend the next few weeks searching for a full-time replacement. Houston already has four or five names in mind, and they're hoping to have a new candidate in place by Nov. 1. Minor league hitting coordinator Ty Van Burkleo was named as the interim hitting coach and Dan Radison will be the interim first base coach.
