Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke has no plans to make RP Jim Henderson his closer again, even though he appears to have regained the control and velocity he lacked at the end of spring training. Entering play Sunday, April 13, RP Francisco Rodriguez has converted all four of his save opportunities, allowing only one walk and one hit over six scoreless innings, with 11 strikeouts.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said the team wants to give RP Jim Henderson some time to get right before putting him in ninth-inning closing situations. "It's velocity but it's also command and life on a pitch," Roenicke said of what was missing from Henderson, who converted 28 of 32 saves in his first season as closer in 2013. "When you see hitters with him, he does have deception. When he's going at people the right way, they're always late on the ball. They're not getting good swings." Henderson had a 6.00 ERA in nine spring outings with nine hits and five walks in nine innings.
Fantasy Tip: You'll need to hang onto Henderson and hope he can turn things around quickly. If he can't Francisco Rodriguez should continue in the closer role, assuming he doesn't blow up. Run to the waiver wire and scoop up K-Rod.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said RP Francisco Rodriguez will be the team's closer for now. The team wants to give RP Jim Henderson some time to get his stuff back.
Fantasy Tip: Owners should look to immediately add Rodriguez in all fantasy leagues, because he will be getting the save opportunities for the near future. Rodriguez's move to the closer role could be temporary, but he could also keep the job if he is successful in the role.

Milwaukee Brewers RP Francisco Rodriguez is in the game in the ninth inning in a save situation against the Atlanta Braves Monday, March 31.
Fantasy Tip: As Haudricourt mentions, K-Rod didn't look very good in his last few outings this spring, so this may be a sign that Jim Henderson is hurt. Stay tuned.

Following the departure of RP Francisco Rodriguez (Orioles), Milwaukee Brewers RP Ron Roenicke indicated Wednesday, July 24, that RPs Jim Henderson and John Axford might close games going forward. Both have closing experience from earlier this season. RP Mike Gonzalez could also be used against left-handed hitters as well. In the game against the San Diego Padres Wednesday, Henderson got the ball in the ninth for his 11th save, while Axford worked a perfect eighth inning.

The Baltimore Orioles acquired RP Francisco Rodriguez from the Milwaukee Brewers Tuesday, July 23, in exchange for INF Nick Delmonico. Also, the Orioles moved OF Nolan Reimold (neck) to the 60-day disabled list in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Tip: Now that K-Rod is out of the picture in Milwaukee, we expect Jim Henderson to jump back into the closer's role, but there's also a chance that John Axford works his way back into consideration eventually. Own both in deep mixed leagues if you're speculating for saves. In Baltimore, K-Rod will be put into setup duties for Jim Johnson, so he'll lose his value as a closer.
Delmonico, 21, has the skills to hit for a decent average and nice pop at the major league level, but he may be several years away from a starting role in Milwaukee.
