Fri, 17 May 2013 15:02:52 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (foot) has been diagnosed with a navicular stress fracture in his right foot, and he'll be re-evaluated in four weeks. Fantasy Tip: At this point, it's probably safe to drop Anderson in most mixed formats. You might be forced to stash him in a DL spot in AL-only leagues. Dan Straily has been struggling in the rotation since Anderson went on the disabled list. Sonny Gray will become a realistic option to replace Straily if he continues to falter.
Wed, 15 May 2013 11:20:28 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) will not start for the parent club on Friday, May 17, as the club had originally had hoped. The left-hander's ankle is still too sore. Fantasy Tip: It's unclear when the A's expect him to return to the rotation. Perhaps he'll undergo additional testing to confirm nothing more serious, but if the probably is mostly related to pain tolerance, it seems likely that Anderson would rejoin the A's rotation in the next week or two. Dan Straily seems likely to remain with the club for at least one more start beyond today's.
Mon, 13 May 2013 15:33:12 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) said he had no issues with his ankle Sunday, May 12, and he feels he'll be ready to make his next start when he's eligible to come off the disabled list. Fantasy Tip: Anderson is eligible to return from the DL later this week, and Dan Straily is expected to be sent down to make room for Anderson in the rotation. Some owners may have already grew tired of Anderson's oft-injured act, so check your waiver wire to see if he's available. If he's healthy, Anderson should improve on his early season results. He's definitely worth owning in deep mixed formats.
Wed, 01 May 2013 10:15:50 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a sprained right ankle. This is his fifth career stint on the DL. The A's have called up SP Dan Straily from Triple-A Sacramento to take Anderson's place on the 25-man roster. Fantasy Tip: This should allow Anderson to recover fully from an ailment that could have affected him for a while otherwise. Considering his results, minus his relief appearance of 5 1/3 innings on Monday, until this point, he doesn't need something like that. Straily may have mixed league value as a streaming option, despite his rough results on Monday, while Anderson is sidelined. At the New York Yankees may not be terribly promising, but a tilt with the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field could well be.
Tue, 30 Apr 2013 14:33:33 -0700 The Oakland Athletics recalled RP Evan Scribner from the minors Tuesday, April 30, and optioned SP Dan Straily to Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.
Mon, 29 Apr 2013 13:30:10 -0700 The Oakland Athletics recalled SP Dan Straily from Triple-A Sacramento Monday, April 29, and optioned RP Jesse Chavez to Sacramento in a corresponding move. Fantasy Tip: Straily is filling in for the injured Brett Anderson (ankle), and Anderson is only expected to miss one start. Straily's value is directly tied to Anderson's health.
Sun, 28 Apr 2013 13:29:07 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) has been scratched from his scheduled start against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Monday, April 29, because of a sore ankle. SP Dan Straily will be recalled from Triple-A Sacramento to make the start but Anderson is not expected to require a stint on the disabled list.
Sun, 21 Apr 2013 10:24:29 -0700 Oakland Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) threw a bullpen session Sunday, April 21, and it appears the team is optimistic that he will be able to make his next scheduled start. The team is holding out SP Dan Straily from his start for Triple-A Sacramento in case he needs to be called up.
Sat, 06 Apr 2013 10:12:22 -0700 Confirming a previous report, the Oakland Athletics have reinstated SP Bartolo Colon from the suspended list. In a corresponding move, SP Dan Straily has been optioned to Triple-A Sacramento. Straily allowed two runs and five hits over 6 2/3 innings in a victory over the Houston Astros Friday, April 5, while walking none and striking out 11.
Tue, 02 Apr 2013 20:47:28 -0700 The Oakland Athletics are expected to demote SP Dan Straily once SP Bartolo Colon (suspension) is activated Saturday, April 6.
