Dodgers | Yasiel Puig sitting again vs. Rays

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 10:02:40 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 27. OF Scott Van Slyke is starting in right field and batting fourth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Moore Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Puig has been a headache all season and is having a career-worst campaign with a .255/.316/.376 slash line and just seven home runs. He's not a must-start outfielder in most leagues at this point. Van Slyke owns a .308/.379/.538 slash line against left-handed pitchers this season, and he's a strong option in daily contests Wednesday.

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 16:01:48 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Tuesday, July 26. OF Andrew Toles will start in right field and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Toles is hitting .333 since being recalled from the minor leagues but still has not recorded any RBI. He should be a starting option in NL-only leagues but can be avoided in mixed leagues.

Dodgers | Yasiel Puig out Sunday

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 15:03:05 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Sunday, July 24, against the St. Louis Cardinals. OF Andrew Toles is in the lineup and will hit seventh against Cardinals SP Mike Mayers.

Fantasy Tip: Depending on if the Dodgers are successful in trading Puig, you could be looking at Toles as a starting right fielder in Los Angeles before too long. Toles hit .391 in his first 10 games with the parent club, so watch and see what happens.

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 13:51:59 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig (hamstring) is out of the lineup Saturday, July 23, with OF Andrew Toles hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Toles is hitting .316, but he's facing a red-hot Mike Leake tonight. He's a low-end option devoid of upside tonight.

Dodgers | Yasiel Puig likely to return Sunday

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 00:19:10 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig (hamstring), who pinch hit in the team's loss on Friday, July 22, has "a chance" to return Saturday, July 23, but it appears that Sunday, July 24, is more likely.

Fantasy Tip: Puig has been better since returning from the DL (.294-2-12 in 85 ABs) and boasts the kind of talent that makes it hard to cut bait despite modest production.

Dodgers | Yasiel Puig not playing Friday

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 15:20:26 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 22. OF Scott Van Slyke is starting in right field and is batting eighth against St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha.

Fantasy Tip: Hamstring problems have already put Puig on the DL once this year, so don't be surprised if he's headed there again. At this point, the disappointment far outweighs the power-speed combination that Puig has failed to deliver for fantasy owners. It's not out of the question to move on in a lot of mixed leagues. Van Slyke isn't very attractive to DFS owners tonight. After all, he's hitting just .191 with no homers and two RBI against righties in 2016.

Dodgers | Yasiel Puig exits early vs. Nats

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 14:10:15 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig (hamstring) left the game in the seventh inning with tightness in his right hamstring Thursday, July 21.

Fantasy Tip: Puig is having the worst season of his career (.698 OPS), and he also can't seem to stay healthy. Remember, he required a stint on the disabled list in June because of a strained left hamstring. It isn't out of the question to cut ties in shallow leagues, as it doesn't appear the promise he flashed early in his career is going to come to fruition in 2016. Stay tuned for updates on his status leading into the weekend.

Dodgers | Yasmani Grandal, Yasiel Puig out

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 06:55:43 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers C Yasmani Grandal and OF Yasiel Puig are out of the lineup Thursday, July 21. C A.J. Ellis is hitting eighth, and OF Andrew Toles is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Toles is hitting .267 in 15 at-bats, and Stephen Strasburg presents a tough matchup. His spot in the order doesn't lend him the upside worth the risk. Ellis isn't worth consideration with his .188 average.

Dodgers | Yasiel Puig not untouchable

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 06:09:51 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig is a player the team is open to trading, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Puig has had a .257-7-31 letdown this year, but he has been better since coming off the disabled list. He's still just 25 and has a lot of talent. There's just not much you can do but wait for it to shine through if you own him.

Dodgers | Yasiel Puig in for rough night?

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 15:17:21 -0700

Los Angeles Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig is hitting .143 with an RBI in 21 career at-bats against San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner in the last five years.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a tantalizing power-speed combination, Puig continues to fall short of expectations with a .252/.307/.382 slash line, seven home runs, 26 RBI and four steals. Nagging injuries are a part of the problem. He should still be owned in most deep mixed and NL-only leagues, but the frustration has left many owners ditching him.
