The St. Louis Cardinals signed second-round pick 3B Carson Kelly to a deal with a $1.6 million bonus. His bonus exceeds the assigned value for his pick ($574,300 at No. 86) by more than $1 million, the largest difference thus far in the 2012 draft. He threw 90-92 mph as a right-handed pitcher in high school, but has more upside as a third baseman with a sound swing and promising power potential.
