Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports the San Francisco 49ers worked out free agent LB Sekou Sanyika (Cardinals) recently and might sign him to a contract, depending on the number of rookie linebackers they sign. Sanyika played 32 games with the Arizona Cardinals, but has been out of action the last two seasons.

Free agent LB Sekou Sanyika’s agent, James Sims, has confirmed to KFFL that Sanyika will be working out for the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday. He was cut earlier this year by the Cardinals.

AZCardinals.com reports Arizona Cardinals linebacker coach Jeff Fitzgerald is expecting stiff competition at the linebacker position during training camp. LBs Ronald McKinnon, Raynoch Thompson and Rob Fredrickson will be the starters going into training camp. LBs Le Var Woods and Michael Young are expected to push for more playing time this season. Rookie LB Levar Fisher and veteran LB Sekou Sanyika will also be worked into the mix.

The Arizona Republic reports Arizona Cardinals DE Kyle Vanden Bosch rehabilitating from reconstructive knee surgery, is committed to returning to health in time to participate in mini-camps in May and June. He has been working out at the team's headquarters most days. He has increased his upper body strength and gained 10 pounds, up to 280. He plans on playing at about 270, he said. PK Bill Gramatica is doing well after undergoing reconstructive surgery on his right knee. TE Terry Hardy underwent surgery on three joints this off-season (left and right knees and shoulder). DT Mario Fatafehi had a broken wrist surgically repaired, and OLB Sekou Sanyika had a knee scoped this off-season.

As a follow up to an earlier story, AZCardinals.com reports Arizona Cardinals LB Sekou Sanyika was originally on the team's expansion list but he was medically disqualified by a neutral physician. The team replaced him with OG Yusuf Scott.

Updating an earlier story, the Arizona Republic reports Arizona Cardinals LB Raynoch Thompson's blood-alcohol level was almost twice the legal drinking limit when he ran his car off the road in Gilbert early Thursday morning, Gilbert police said. Thompson was cited for driving under the influence, failure to maintain control of his vehicle and speeding, according to the team. As previously reported, he was fined the maximum amount, around $7,000, for missing practice and meetings Thursday. Sekou Sanyika will start Sunday for Thompson and coach Dave McGinnis said Thompson will not be "handed his starting job back."

AZCardinals.com reports Arizona Cardinals LB Raynoch Thompson missed practice Thursday after being involved in a minor car accident Wednesday night. Head coach Dave McGinnis said that Thompson was at the doctor’s getting his neck and back checked. Sekou Sanyika will play Sunday if Thompson is unable to play.

An MRI of OT Anthony Clement's back was negative and he was at practice. CB Tom Knight (groin) started practice but could not finish.
