Padres | No Matt Kemp against Phillies

Fri, 28 Aug 2015 14:17:42 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Matt Kemp (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup Friday, Aug. 28. OF Travis Jankowski is playing right field and batting ninth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Nola Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Kemp ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has been on a tear since the All-Star break, and don't forget he finished 2014 strong, too. Make sure to avoid him in all fantasy formats Friday, though, as he is dealing with a sore shoulder. Expect him back sooner than later. FantasyScore players have no reason to target Jankowski ($2,600, 5.2% of cap), either.

Padres | Matt Kemp sitting vs. Nats

Thu, 27 Aug 2015 13:48:12 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Matt Kemp is not in the starting lineup Thursday, Aug. 27. OF Travis Jankowski is playing right field and batting first against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Kemp ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Thursday. The veteran has turned it on with seven home runs, 31 RBI and a .306/.366/.522 slash line over 36 games since the All-Star break. Jankowski ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is 5-for-13 to start his career, and hitting first in the lineup makes him a potential low-priced flier for FantasyScore players Thursday.

Padres | Melvin Upton in two-hole

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 14:10:08 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Melvin Upton Jr. is starting in center field and hitting second against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez Wednesday, Aug. 26. OF Travis Jankowski will start on the bench against a lefty.

Fantasy Tip: Upton ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) and Jankowski ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) are basically locked into a platoon in center field now, with Jankowski gaining the strong side of the platoon against righties. Both outfielders have plenty of speed but not much power, and Jankowski's upside is brighter for fantasy owners. Upton remains a low-end outfield option on FantasyScore against a lefty tonight. He's hitting just .217 (10-for-46) with two home runs against them this year.

Padres | Travis Jankowski hitting ninth on Tuesday

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 13:31:22 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Travis Jankowski is batting ninth in the lineup Tuesday, Aug. 25, against Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg.

Fantasy Tip: Jankowski ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has a .556 mark with three RBIs in his first week of action, but he largely hits against right-handed pitching. This will likely stay the same even if Jankowski's bat stays hot, but it's worth keeping an eye on this to see how much time Jankowski takes away from OF Melvin Upton.

Padres | No slump for Travis Jankowski

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 00:02:26 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Travis Jankowski had two hits and two RBIs Saturday, Aug. 22, in an 8-0 shutout of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: So much for a second-day slump for Jankowski. He has had four hits and three RBIs in the past two days, and he may be playing himself into a regular role on the team at this rate. Once he establishes a FantasyScore value, you may want to rely on him for a cheap source of offense.

Padres | Travis Jankowski solid in debut

Sat, 22 Aug 2015 05:09:06 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Travis Jankowski had two hits and drove in a run Friday, Aug. 21, in his major league debut. Jankowski took the place of OF Will Venable, who was dealt to the Texas Rangers earlier in the week. He became the ninth player in franchise history to record two or more hits in his big league debut, and the fourth with two or more hits and one RBI.

Fantasy Tip: All told, it was a solid debut for Jankowski and one that could foresee more playing time. Keep an eye on this young hitter, who has yet to establish a FantasyScore value because he was just called up, as the Padres may play him on a regular basis.

Padres | Travis Jankowski making big league debut

Fri, 21 Aug 2015 15:10:19 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Travis Jankowski is starting in center field and hitting ninth against St. Louis Cardinals SP John Lackey in his major league debut Friday, Aug. 21. OF Melvin Upton Jr. will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Jankowski ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) posted impressive numbers in multiple minor league stops for the Padres this year, hitting .335 (127-for-379) with a home run, 25 RBI and 32 stolen bases. Speed is his main asset, but he's not too attractive to daily gamers in his first major league spot against a savvy vet like Lackey.

Padres | Travis Jankowski coming up

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 10:11:24 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Travis Jankowski is being called up from the minors Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Now that Will Venable is no longer in San Diego, Jankowski could see notable playing time in center field with Melvin Upton Jr. Jankowski, a lefty swinger, hit .392 (38-for-97) with no home runs, 12 RBI and nine stolen bases at Class AAA El Paso. He's stolen 32 bases in two minor league stops this year. Look to him in deep mixed leagues if you need stolen bases, and he could be a real nice unknown value pick on FantasyScore in the right matchups.
