Mets | Travis d'Arnaud sitting vs. Rays

Sun, 09 Aug 2015 07:26:17 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud is not in the starting lineup Sunday, Aug. 9. C Kevin Plawecki is starting behind the plate and batting ninth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Chris Archer Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is just 4-for-23 since returning from the disabled list, but he holds the upside of a fringe top-12 catcher in mixed leagues. Stay patient with him. Plawecki ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is a risky FantasyScore option facing Archer ($9,500, 19.0% of cap) Sunday.

Mets | Travis d'Arnaud sitting out vs. Marlins

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 14:23:20 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 5. C Kevin Plawecki is starting behind the plate and batting seventh against Miami Marlins SP David Phelps Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Expect d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) to receive ample games off initially to ensure he remains healthy, so seasonal owners shouldn't count on consistent production in the short-term. Plawecki ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) has a .273/.344/.327 slash line over his past 15 games, so while there is potential his ceiling is low. FantasyScore players could utilize Plawecki as a source of cap relief Wednesday, but you should keep your expectations in check.

Mets | NY to be cautious with Travis d'Arnaud

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 09:44:38 -0700

New York Mets C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) will return from the disabled list Friday, July 31, but manager Terry Collins said the team will be cautious with him upon his return. "He won't be a four (games) in a row guy," Collins said of d'Arnaud. "He might play two and a day off. It'll all depend on how he feels." C Kevin Plawecki is likely to remain on the major league roster with C Anthony Recker being sent down. d'Arnaud hasn't played since June 20 and was hitting .296 with four home runs and 17 RBI.

Fantasy Tip: d'Arnaud ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) has been a fine fantasy catching commodity for his bat, but he just hasn't been able to stay healthy enough to be viable for fake owners. Now that he's back, he could be a great addition to a team in need of catching, and he could be a great value play on FantasyScore, too, when he's in the lineup.

Mets | Anthony Recker draws into the lineup

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 15:07:01 -0700

New York Mets C Kevin Plawecki is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 29. C Anthony Recker is starting behind the plate and batting eighth against San Diego Padres SP Tyson Ross Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Plawecki ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. He remains a low-end catcher in all fantasy leagues, and he should be reserved for NL-only formats at this point. Recker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is batting .130 this season, and for comparison sake, Mets SP Bartolo Colon is batting .139. Aim higher than Recker in FantasyScore contests Wednesday.

Mets | Kevin Plawecki picking it up

Thu, 16 Jul 2015 10:10:47 -0700

New York Mets C Kevin Plawecki has struggled at the plate this year, but he hit .288 with a .716 OPS in his last 20 games leading into the All-Star break. "That position is very challenging in terms of learning the pitching staff, getting big league hitters out and being a big league hitter," said a scout. "There's a lot going on. He's heading in the right direction." Plawecki has also proven to be a solid defensive backstop, and he ranks second in the majors with 59 "extra strikes gained" in 411 innings.

Fantasy Tip: Travis d'Arnaud hasn't been able to stay healthy in his career, so Plawecki ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) has seen valuable playing time and could become even more valuable for fantasy owners. His .231 (37-for-160) average and two home runs doesn't look enticing, but he's a suitable second catcher in two-catcher leagues, and he's worth owning in NL-only leagues with d'Arnaud out.

Mets | Kevin Plawecki sitting out

Sun, 12 Jul 2015 07:48:26 -0700

New York Mets C Kevin Plawecki is not in the starting lineup against Arizona Diamondbacks SP Rubby De La Rosa Sunday, July 12. C Johnny Monell will start at catcher and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Plawecki ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and will return after the break. Monell ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has picked up at least one hit in each of his last three games, but owners on FantasyScore may be able to find better options to use.

Mets | Kevin Plawecki resting Monday

Mon, 06 Jul 2015 16:19:30 -0700

New York Mets C Kevin Plawecki is not in the starting lineup Monday, July 6. C Johnny Monell is starting and hitting seventh against San Francisco Giants SP Chris Heston.

Fantasy Tip: Monell ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has only six hits in 33 at-bats (.182) this year. Avoid him on FantasyScore tonight.

Mets | Johnny Monell catching Sunday

Sun, 05 Jul 2015 12:29:24 -0700

New York Mets C Johnny Monell is starting against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Mike Bolsinger Sunday, July 5, batting seventh. C Kevin Plawecki is receiving a scheduled day off.

Fantasy Tip: Monell ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has just five hits in 30 at-bats this season and is not a viable FantasyScore option.

Mets | Kevin Plawecki sitting out

Thu, 02 Jul 2015 09:29:49 -0700

New York Mets C Kevin Plawecki is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 2. C Johnny Monell is doing the catching and is hitting seventh against Chicago Cubs SP Jake Arrieta.

Fantasy Tip: Monell ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is seldom used and doesn't deserve your attention on FantasyScore.

Mets | Kevin Plawecki back in starting role?

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 15:07:35 -0700

New York Mets C Kevin Plawecki should receive the majority of starts behind the plate for the foreseeable future, after C Travis d'Arnaud (elbow) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, June 23.

Fantasy Tip: Plawecki ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is hitting just .227 on the season, with two home runs, nine runs scored and 13 RBI through 129 plate appearances. It will take a couple of impressive days at the plate and an extremely favorable matchup for FantasyScore owners to consider Plawecki.
