Rockies | Three more RBI for Trevor Story

Sun, 01 May 2016 05:14:25 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story went 2-for-5 with two runs, a double, a triple and three RBI during the Rockies' 5-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday, April 30.

Fantasy Tip: Settle for the strikeouts (league-leading 37) and underwhelming batting average (.261) because Story is pounding the counting stats. Through 22 games, the rookie has 19 runs, 10 home runs and 20 RBI. Playing half his games at hitter-friendly Coors Field is a nice safety net to help avoid any prolonged slumps, too.

Rockies | Trevor Story ties MLB record

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 05:46:17 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI against the Arizona Diamondbacks Friday, April 29. His 10 home runs in April has tied an MLB record for most home runs in April by a rookie.

Fantasy Tip: Story has slowed down on his home run pace but has hit one in each of the last two games. Story still struggles with strikeouts but should be a starter in all leagues for the time being.

Rockies | Trevor Story with day off

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 10:01:38 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story is out of the lineup Thursday, April 28, with SS Cristhian Adames hitting second. C Tony Wolters is also hitting eighth with C Nick Hundley sitting out.

Fantasy Tip: Since Hundley returned, he has faced two lefties, while Wolters has been in against two righties. Wolters opened eyes with three quick steals, but he has done little since with a .156-0-3 line on the year. It's worth watching in the coming days, but pass on Wolters. Adames is 4-for-24 (.167) on the year and isn't a real solid option against Juan Nicasio.

Rockies | Trevor Story in mild slump

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 17:21:15 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story is hitting .091 (2-for-22) since hitting his last home run April 18, and his average has dropped from .309 to .247. He's averaging 4.47 pitches per plate appearance, which is above the major league average of 3.88. Story said he's not seeing as many fastballs in hitter's counts. He's also struck out 31 times, which leads the National League.

Fantasy Tip: Story's amazing start to the year seems like a distant memory. He swings and misses too much to be helpful to his fantasy owners in the average department, but Story could easily top 20 homers on the season at a shallow position.

Rockies | Trevor Story, Nick Hundley resting

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 14:18:54 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story and C Nick Hundley are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 26. SS Cristhian Adames is starting at shortstop and hitting second, while C Tony Wolters is doing the catching and batting eighth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Gerrit Cole.

Fantasy Tip: Cole got off to a tough start on the year, but he rebounded nicely and is a daunting matchup for both Adames and Wolters tonight. Both players shouldn't attract much attention in daily setups, even at home in hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Rockies | Colorado has lineup overhaul

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 14:50:49 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story, OF Carlos Gonzalez, 3B Nolan Arenado and OF Gerardo Parra all moved up one spot to hit in the first four spots in the lineup. 2B DJ LeMahieu was dropped to No. 9.

Fantasy Tip: All five are worth daily considerations at their respective positions. LeMahieu is just 2-for-16 (.125) the last seven days, and he loses some luster hitting ninth. He's still worth starting at the right price against Kenta Maeda.

Rockies | Trevor Story does it again

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 21:02:57 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story went 2-for-4 with a double and solo home run Monday, April 18, against the Cincinnati Reds. The homer was his National League-leading eighth of the season, and is the most homers through a player's first 13 games in major league history since 1900. He has at least one extra-base hit in eight of his 13 outings.

Fantasy Tip: Story has emerged as a tremendous fantasy option in all formats, and he is making it extremely difficult for the organization for when Jose Reyes is able to return. If Story continues to roll, it wouldn't be surprising to see the team try to deal Reyes.

Rockies | Trevor Story hitless Tuesday

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 08:59:10 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story, who hit a record seven home runs in his first six games, went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the San Francisco Giants Tuesday, April 12. Story averaged 14 home runs in the minors for five seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Story wrote a storybook beginning to his career, but obviously that pace won't last. The shortstop phenom has impressive power at a position that lacks it, though, so even though he'll cool off, you won't complain having him on your roster. Story also struck out often in the minors, so he'll be prone to cold stretches eventually.

Rockies | Another record for Trevor Story

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 17:26:04 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story hit his seventh home run of the season in a 6-3 win over the San Diego Padres Sunday, April 10, setting a new major league record for the most home runs in a team's first six games.

Fantasy Tip: The rookie's incredible start continued, and if you plan on trying to sell high, you should ask for a king's ransom in return.

Rockies | Trevor Story homers twice Friday

Fri, 08 Apr 2016 18:34:47 -0700

Colorado Rockies SS Trevor Story went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs and four RBI in a loss to the San Diego Padres Friday, April 8. He became the first player in MLB history to homer in each of the first four games of his career and only the fifth player ever to homer in each of the first four games of a season.

Fantasy Tip: Story is batting .368 with six home runs and 11 RBI, with all but one of his hits this season having left the yard. He is a must-start option in all fantasy formats.
