Los Angeles Dodgers RP Shawn Tolleson (back) will have surgery to fix a herniated disc in his lower back Thursday, April 25, and he'll miss three to five months. Tolleson injured his back in January, and he thinks it flared up April 11 in the minors.

Los Angeles Dodgers RP Shawn Tolleson (back) received an epidural injection Tuesday April 16 for the bulging disc in his lower back and hopes to resume throwing within two weeks. His back had already been bothering him when he made his first and only appearance for the club on Friday, April 12, after being called up to replace SP Zack Greinke (broken collarbone) on the roster. Tolleson said it's an aggravation of an injury he suffered in January and believes it flared up during travel between his last appearance for Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday, April 11, and Friday.

The Los Angeles Dodgers placed RP Shawn Tolleson (back) on the 15-day disabled list Monday, April 15, with a lower back strain. P Josh Wall was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque in a corresponding move. Tolleson's DL stint is retroactive to April 13.

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Dodgers RP Shawn Tolleson (knee) is considered day to day with minor soreness after being examined Tuesday, March 5. He injured his left knee during his Cactus League spring appearance Tuesday. "(The trainer) was ruling out the big stuff," manager Don Mattingly said.
