Indians | Rajai Davis leading off vs. Phillies

Fri, 29 Apr 2016 12:59:13 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Rajai Davis is starting in center field and batting first against Philadelphia Phillies SP Adam Morgan Friday, April 29. OF Tyler Naquin is not in the starting lineup Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Davis has a career .294/.348/.444 slash line against southpaws and is off to a strong start this season with a .286/.333/.482 line. He is a strong option in all fantasy formats Friday. However, his year-long value is decreasing with Michael Brantley back in the fold. Davis will likely see the smaller side of a timeshare with Naquin. Naquin has been strong to start the season, too, as he has gone 13-for-39 with seven runs and a .350 on-base percentage.

Indians | Three Tribe regulars sitting out

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 14:42:12 -0700

Cleveland Indians 3B Juan Uribe and OFs Lonnie Chisenhall and Rajai Davis are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 27. 3B Jose Ramirez is at the hot corner and is batting seventh, OF Marlon Byrd is starting in right field and is hitting eighth, while OF Tyler Naquin sees the start in center field and is batting ninth against Minnesota Twins SP Jose Berrios.

Fantasy Tip: The Tribe is facing a top pitching prospect making his major league debut in Berrios, so their is plenty of risk and reward for all three players in daily formats. However, with all three near the bottom of the lineup, they're more of desperation deep sleeper picks.

Indians | Carlos Santana back in leadoff spot

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 14:01:07 -0700

Cleveland Indians 1B Carlos Santana is hitting leadoff again against Minnesota Twins SP Ricky Nolasco Tuesday, April 26. OF Rajai Davis is not playing, while OF Tyler Naquin is starting in center field and batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Santana's leadoff positioning is likely the result of Davis being out of the lineup tonight. Regardless, it's notable, especially in daily contests. Santana homered in his first at-bat out of the leadoff spot Friday and had four hits in 14 at-bats at leadoff over the weekend. Santana is a nice option for all formats tonight. Naquin has played little this year and is a low-end outfield option.

Indians | Tyler Naquin sitting vs. Mets

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 07:17:01 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Tyler Naquin is not in the starting lineup Sunday, April 17. INF/OF Jose Ramirez draws into the lineup and is starting in left field and batting ninth against New York Mets SP Steven Matz.

Fantasy Tip: Naquin is 5-for-15 to start the season, but he also hasn't drawn a walk or notched an extra-base hit. He is best left to cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues at this point, and you'll have to avoid him Sunday. Ramirez is having a nice start with a .500 slugging percentage through his first 28 games, and he is a potential flier in daily contests Sunday. Ramirez's positional flexibility makes him a potential add in cavernous mixed and AL-only formats, too.

Indians | Rajai Davis takes a seat

Wed, 06 Apr 2016 11:36:08 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Rajai Davis and OF Collin Cowgill are out of the lineup Wednesday, April 6, in favor of OFs Jose Ramirez and Tyler Naquin.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez is in a nice spot between Francisco Lindor and Jason Kipnis in the two-hole while Naquin is hitting ninth. Ramirez might be a plug-and-play option against Clay Buchholz. We need to see more from Naquin, though.

Indians | Tyler Naquin breaking camp with Cleveland

Fri, 25 Mar 2016 15:33:03 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Tyler Naquin will begin the season on the 25-man roster, manager Terry Francona told Naquin Friday, March 25.

Fantasy Tip: Naquin posted a .447/.500/.842 slash line through 42 plate appearances this spring, and he has been rewarded with a roster spot. He should be owned in all cavernous mixed and AL-only formats, and he could see the lion's share of starts in center field. In the short term, Michael Brantley's (shoulder) health concerns could open up everyday at-bats to start the season. Naquin likely isn't worth a look in standard mixed leagues yet, though.

Indians | Tyler Naquin worked on his strength

Thu, 24 Mar 2016 14:16:17 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Tyler Naquin spent almost two months at the team's spring complex last winter working at the strength camp after he played in only 50 games at Class AAA Columbus in 2015 with a concussion and sore right hip. Naquin said the workout sessions helped him cut down on his body fat and gain muscle. He's hitting .447 (17-for-38) with four RBI in the Cactus League and appears headed toward being the opening day center fielder.

Fantasy Tip: With Michael Brantley injured and unlikely to be ready for the regular season, Naquin could see his fair share of playing time. He's been injury-prone, but when healthy makes plenty of contact and can run. Based off the way he's played this spring and his opportunity, he should be scooped up as a late-round flier in mixed leagues as a potential spark plug for the beginning of the season.

Indians | Tyler Naquin swats two homers

Wed, 23 Mar 2016 23:00:54 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Tyler Naquin hit a pair of home runs in the Cactus League spring game Wednesday, March 23, against the Kansas City Royals. "Naquin's doing everything he can do," manager Terry Francona said. "We'll get to a point where we start to do some things. You don't want to do them too early, but he's done a really good job."

Fantasy Tip: Naquin is a sleeper heading into the season, as he could very well end up starting in center field with Abraham Almonte suspended. Naquin isn't a bad speculative pick in the later rounds in AL-only fantasy play, as he could be a tremendous sleeper.
