Indians | Cleveland sitting two players

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 14:05:19 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Lonnie Chisenhall and OF Tyler Naquin are not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez Tuesday, July 26. INF Jose Ramirez will start in left field, while 3B Juan Uribe will start at third base and is batting seventh. OF Abraham Almonte will start in right field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Uribe has struggled this month and is hitting only .128 with four RBI during that span. Owners probably should not use Uribe in their lineups. Almonte has only four hits in his last 12 games and can also be avoided in most fantasy leagues.

Indians | Tyler Naquin has career day Wednesday

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 16:30:52 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Tyler Naquin put up a monster line Wednesday, July 20, against the Kansas City Royals. The rookie outfielder went 3-for-6 with a pair of homers -- his 11th and 12th on the season -- while driving in six runs and scoring twice. He also added a double.

Fantasy Tip: Wow, what a performance from Naquin, who is really starting to turn into an option in the outfield in AL-only leagues, if not deep mixed formats as well. Despite not having any home runs in his first two months with the Indians, Naquin has slugged 12 of them since, including six here in July. As long as Michael Brantley (shoulder) remains out, Naquin will continue to benefit. He could be worth riding while he's swinging a hot bat.

Indians | Tyler Naquin out Tuesday

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 13:38:51 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Tyler Naquin is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 19, against the Kansas City Royals. OF Rajai Davis replaces Naquin and leads off against SP Brian Flynn.

Fantasy Tip: Naquin is out due to the lefty-lefty matchup. A previous post suggests to play Davis because of the damage he can do at the top of the lineup, especially against an unfamiliar Kansas City pitcher.

Indians | Two Indians sit

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 14:30:02 -0700

Cleveland Indians C Yan Gomes and OF Rajai Davis are out of the lineup Saturday, July 16, with OF Tyler Naquin hitting eighth and C Chris Gimenez hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Naquin is pretty much a regular at this point as he has a .309-9-22 line. His lineup placement isn't great, but he's still a low-end grab against Tyler Duffey. Gimenez has no fantasy value.

Indians | Tyler Naquin, Lonnie Chisenhall starting

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 07:40:48 -0700

Cleveland Indians OFs Tyler Naquin and Lonnie Chisenhall are back in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka Sunday, July 10.

Fantasy Tip: Naquin and Chisenhall have both performed well at the plate recently and are worth considering for daily fantasy lineups. Naquin is 5-for-16 (.313) with two home runs and three RBI over the past week, while Chisenhall is batting .323 with a home run and six RBI during the month of July.

Indians | Rajai Davis, Abraham Almonte starting

Sat, 09 Jul 2016 10:11:38 -0700

Cleveland Indians OFs Rajai Davis and Abraham Almonte are in the starting lineup against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Saturday, July 9. OFs Tyler Naquin and Lonnie Chisenhall are receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Although Davis is batting .350 over the last seven days, he is just 8-for-44 in his career versus Sabathia, so he is not a recommended option in DFS this afternoon. Almonte is just 1-for-10 since returning from an 80-game suspension and should also be avoided.

Indians | Two Indians sitting out

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 06:54:19 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Rajai Davis and C Yan Gomes are out of the lineup Wednesday, July 6, with OF Tyler Naquin hitting eighth and C Chris Gimenez hitting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Naquin has a .313-7-19 line in 144 at-bats, which is superb. His upside is pretty minimal at the bottom of this lineup, but he's worth a low-end start against Michael Fulmer. Gimenez is hitting just .187 and isn't worth consideration in DFS.

Indians | Abraham Almonte starting vs. Detroit

Mon, 04 Jul 2016 13:09:37 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Abraham Almonte is starting in right field and batting ninth against Detroit Tigers SP Daniel Norris Monday, July 4. OF Tyler Naquin is not in the starting lineup Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Almonte has extremely limited fantasy appeal, but he has played consecutive games and is likely worth an add in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. His return hurts the fantasy value of Naquin, as Almonte could grab starts against southpaws and potentially some righties, too.

Indians | Jason Kipnis, Tyler Naquin resting

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 08:24:18 -0700

Cleveland Indians 2B Jason Kipnis and OF Tyler Naquin are receiving the day off against Toronto Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ Sunday, July 3. INF Jose Ramirez is playing second base and batting second, while SS Francisco Lindor is back in the lineup as the No. 3 hitter. In addition, C Yan Gomes will start behind the plate and bat sixth, OF Abraham Almonte will bat seventh and play center field and 3B Juan Uribe (wrist) will play the hot corner and bat eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez and Lindor are viable options in all formats but Gomes is just 2-for-17 over the past week and is 1-for-7 in his career versus Happ, so he should be avoided this afternoon. Almonte was projected to be the club's regular center fielder entering 2016 but was forced to serve an 80-game suspension after testing positive for the drug Boldenone during spring training. He could push Tyler Naquin for regular playing time at the position going forward. Uribe should be viewed as nothing more than an inexpensive flier in DFS.

Indians | Lonnie Chisenhall, Yan Gomes resting

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 12:45:34 -0700

Cleveland Indians OF Lonnie Chisenhall and C Yan Gomes are not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 30. OF Tyler Naquin is starting in right field and is hitting seventh, while C Chris Gimenez is behind the plate and batting ninth against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the off day, Chisenhall has heated up recently and should be drawing attention from those in deep mixed leagues. Naquin is providing a nice average (.331 in 124 at-bats) but doesn't move the needle much in the counting stats (six home runs, 16 RBI) and is more of a deep sleeper in DFS. Gimenez is a desperation low-end catching consideration.
