The New York Yankees signed first-round pick P Ty Hensley to a $1.2 million deal. Hensley originally agreed to a $1.6 million bonus shortly after the draft, matching the assigned pick value for his 30th overall selection. But during his physical on June 8, an MRI revealed an abnormality in his right shoulder. Hensley never has had a shoulder injury or pain, and he consistently impressed scouts during the spring.

New York Yankees amateur scouting director Damon Oppenheimer said Monday, June 4, that SP Ty Hensley "has the ability to be a high-end starter." Hensley has a fastball that reaches 97 mph, and a good curveball as well.
