Chicago Cubs SS Addison Russell (allergy) stayed behind after the club finished their series in Colorado Sunday, April 22, due to an allergic reaction to something he ate from the postgame spread in the clubhouse. He spent a couple of hours at a Denver hospital for observation and felt much better by the time he was back at the hotel. Russell rejoined his teammates in Cleveland on Monday, April 23, and thinks he'll be able to play in the series opener Tuesday, April 24.

Chicago Cubs SS Addison Russell (foot) has been running from side to side and doing light jogging in recent days and has been throwing a football to keep his arm strong. He is expected to spend at least two more weeks rehabbing but will reclaim the starting shortstop job once he is ready to resume playing. INF Javier Baez, who has been playing shortstop in Russell's absence, will slide over to second base when Russell returns.
