Cardinals | Stephen Piscotty may play 1B

Sat, 24 Oct 2015 06:13:48 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Stephen Piscotty could see most of his playing time at first base next season if the team is able to re-sign impending free-agent OF Jason Heyward.

Fantasy Tip: Piscotty played well after being called up from the minor leagues in July and finished the regular season with a .305 batting average, seven home runs and 39 RBI. Piscotty could be a middle- to late-round draft pick in most mixed leagues next season.

Cardinals | Stephen Piscotty caps off great run

Tue, 13 Oct 2015 21:31:28 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Stephen Piscotty went 1-for-4 with a walk and a two-run home run in Game 4 of the National League Division Series against the Chicago Cubs Tuesday, Oct. 13.

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals might have been eliminated, but it certainly wasn't Piscotty's fault. He emerged as a tremendous FantasyScore option since his recall from Class AAA Memphis in the middle of the season and he'll be a popular pick among all fantasy formats in 2016.

Cardinals | Stephen Piscotty playing right field

Sat, 10 Oct 2015 11:50:48 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B/OF Stephen Piscotty will bat second and play right field against Chicago Cubs SP Kyle Hendricks in Game 2 of the National League Division Series Saturday, Oct. 10. OF Randal Grichuk, who played right field in Game 1, is not in the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Piscotty ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) went 2-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBIs while playing first base in Game 1 and makes an excellent choice for FantasyScore lineups Saturday.

Cardinals | Tommy Pham, Stephen Piscotty homer

Sat, 10 Oct 2015 00:51:14 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Tommy Pham and OF Stephen Piscotty each hit home runs Friday, Oct. 9, in a 4-0 shutout of the Chicago Cubs in Game 1 of the National League Division Series.

Fantasy Tip: Pham ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) and Piscotty ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) are part of the rookie generation the Cardinals will be counting on in future seasons. They both got a chance to shine Friday, and needless to say they should be in your lineup when starting.

Cardinals | Stephen Piscotty hitting second

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 10:53:45 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Stephen Piscotty is starting at first base and is batting second against Chicago Cubs SP Jon Lester in Game 1 of the division series Friday, Oct. 9.

Fantasy Tip: Piscotty ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) hit over .300 in his rookie season in 63 games and also batted .322 (19-for-59) with two of his seven home runs against lefties this year. His head injury is behind him and he's not a bad FantasyScore selection at all against a lefty.

Cardinals | Several STL starters resting in Game 2

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 13:13:12 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday, OF Jason Heyward, 3B Matt Carpenter, OF Stephen Piscotty, SS Jhonny Peralta and 2B Kolten Wong are all not starting in Game 2 of the doubleheader Sunday, Oct. 4, against the Atlanta Braves.

Fantasy Tip: Seeing this is the final game of the regular season, this is to be expected. Manager Mike Matheny is simply resting his starters. Of the reserves, OF Tommy Pham ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) might be worth a flier on FantasyScore.

Cardinals | Stephen Piscotty returns for Game 1

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 07:43:27 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Stephen Piscotty (head) is starting in right field and batting second against Atlanta Braves SP Shelby Miller in Game 1 of the doubleheader Sunday, Oct. 4. OF Randal Grichuk is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Piscotty ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) hasn't played since Monday, Sept. 28, after he was injured in a scary outfield collision. He checks out as a risky fantasy option in all fantasy formats Sunday, and it is unlikely he plays in the second game of the doubleheader. Check back for updates on how he makes out in the outing.

St. Louis Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk and OF Stephen Piscotty (head) are out of the lineup Saturday, Oct. 3, with OF Jon Jay hitting eighth.

Cardinals | Stephen Piscotty taking batting practice

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 13:39:02 -0700

Updating a previous report, St. Louis Cardinals OF Stephen Piscotty (head) will take batting practice with teammates Friday, Oct. 2, which is a part of post-concussion testing he must complete.

Fantasy Tip: There are no guarantees Piscotty ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) will play again during the regular season, so yearly owners are likely better off replacing him in all formats. At this stage, he is best left to keeper/dynasty formats.

Cardinals | St. Louis resting regulars

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 13:29:03 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OFs Jason Heyward, Matt Holliday and Stephen Piscotty (head), 3B Matt Carpenter, 2B Kolten Wong and SS Jhonny Peralta are not in the starting lineup against the Atlanta Braves Friday, Oct. 2.

Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals boast strong depth, so their lineup isn't exactly a cast of Class AAA players. However, Braves SP Julio Teheran ($6,600, 13.2% of cap) owns a 3.06 ERA and held opposing hitters to a .596 OPS through his 16 starts at Turner Field this season. There are enough cushier matchups to target for FantasyScore players Friday.
