Cardinals | Matt Holliday injures quad

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 18:01:54 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday (quadriceps) left the game against the Cincinnati Reds Wednesday, July 29, due to a strained right quadriceps. He suffered the injury while running to first base on a grounder during the first inning and was replaced by OF Stephen Piscotty. Holliday will be re-evaluated Thursday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: Holliday ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) spent six weeks on the disabled list dealing with the same injury earlier this season. He is batting .290 with four home runs and 31 RBIs through 63 games. Check back for further updates on his status.

Cardinals | Stephen Piscotty starting at first base

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 15:57:02 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Stephen Piscotty is starting at first base and batting eighth against Cincinnati Reds SP Anthony DeSclafani Wednesday, July 29. 1B Mark Reynolds is not in the starting lineup Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Piscotty ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is 6-for-18 with two runs, a double and two RBI over his first seven games in the majors. There is upside at his cap hit, but FantasyScore players and seasonal owners would love to see him hitting higher in the batting order. He is nothing more than a flier for daily contests batting eight.

Cardinals | Matt Holliday resting

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 14:46:25 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF Matt Holliday is not in the starting lineup Monday, July 27. OF Stephen Piscotty is starting in left field and hitting sixth against Cincinnati Reds SP Raisel Iglesias.

Fantasy Tip: Piscotty ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has four hits in his first 12 at-bats (.333) for the Cardinals after being called up last week. He's mainly a line-drive hitter that is developing a power stroke, and he can also run a little bit. You can do much worse than Piscotty when searching for an under-the-radar value play at outfield.

Cardinals | Mark Reynolds out of the lineup

Sun, 26 Jul 2015 11:09:58 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Mark Reynolds is not in the starting lineup against Atlanta Braves SP Matt Wisler Sunday, July 26. 1B Stephen Piscotty will start at first base and is batting sixth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Reynolds ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) likely will return to the lineup in the near future. Piscotty ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has only gone 2-for-9 since joining the Cardinals and may not be a good option until he produces more at the plate.

Cardinals | Stephen Piscotty scratched

Thu, 23 Jul 2015 13:51:18 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 1B Stephen Piscotty (neck) has a stiff neck and was pulled from the starting lineup Thursday, July 23. 1B Dan Johnson is starting at first base and batting eighth against Kansas City Royals SP Chris Young Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Piscotty ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) from your fantasy lineups Thursday. Johnson ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a desperation flier in all fantasy formats Thursday, and starting him at FantasyScore is risky with all the upside you'll be passing up at first base. Check back for updates on Piscotty's health.

St. Louis Cardinals 3B Stephen Piscotty will start in left field against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Tuesday, July 21, and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Piscotty ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) will be making his season debut Tuesday and could see more playing time moving forward. Owners on FantasyScore may want to see him play in a game or two before considering him for their lineups.

Cardinals | Stephen Piscotty recalled

Tue, 21 Jul 2015 10:22:03 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals 3B/1B Stephen Piscotty was recalled from Class AAA Memphis Tuesday, July 21. OF Tommy Pham was sent down to Memphis.

Fantasy Tip: Piscotty ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) could be worth a look on FantasyScore real soon, but let him get a few at-bats under his belt first.

Cardinals | Stephen Piscotty to be recalled

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 11:00:17 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF/1B Stephen Piscotty is expected to be recalled from Class AAA Memphis before the team's game Tuesday, July 21, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Piscotty has a chance to play at first base when he joins the Cardinals, so his fantasy value will be determined by his playing time. Owners in NL-only leagues should consider adding Piscotty if he available in leagues, and he could be an option in deeper mixed leagues if he receives regular playing time.

Cardinals | Stephen Piscotty hitting with authority

Fri, 17 Jul 2015 09:49:14 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals OF/1B Stephen Piscotty has a career-high .479 slugging percentage, and his 11 homers in 309 at-bats at Class AAA are more than he had in 500 at-bats last year. Piscotty re-engineered his swing this past winter to get more loft and do more damage.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like the team's top offensive prospect is knocking on the door and could come up and play first in the near future. Piscotty should be owned in NL-only leagues and is a watch list candidate in mixed leagues.
