Astros | Lance McCullers to pitch Monday

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 05:41:10 -0700

Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers (shoulder) is expected to throw 60 to 75 pitches in an extended spring training game Monday, May 2.

Fantasy Tip: McCullers probably will need to make a few starts in the minor leagues before he is ready to return to the Astros. Owners should consider adding McCullers if he is available in their league because he posted solid numbers in 2015.

Astros | Lance McCullers throws bullpen

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 15:16:22 -0700

Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, April 19, with no problems and was caught by C Evan Gattis. McCullers is scheduled for another bullpen Friday, April 22.

Fantasy Tip: McCullers appears to be getting closer to making his season debut. He showed some noteworthy promise as a rookie in 2015, going 6-7 in 22 starts with a very nice 3.22 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. Most impressively, though, he averaged more than a strikeout per inning, logging 129 K's in 125 2/3 total innings, while opponents hit just .226 off the right-hander. McCullers can be a nice spark for fantasy teams as soon as he gets back.

Astros | Lance McCullers' rehab start scratched

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 14:05:09 -0700

Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers' (shoulder) rehab start was scratched for Saturday, April 16, because of lingering issues from his last outing, according to manager A.J. Hinch.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear what his timetable is for a return now, but this likely means we won't see him make his season debut until May. McCullers has electric stuff and could be a future fantasy ace, though, so he's still worth stashing in the majority of formats.

Astros | Lance McCullers set for rehab start

Thu, 07 Apr 2016 11:10:48 -0700

Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers (shoulder) will make a minor league rehab start with Class AA Corpus Christi Monday, April 11, and will likely go two to three innings.

Fantasy Tip: McCullers has the potential to be an ace-like arm for fantasy owners, so those that drafted him in the later rounds in mixed leagues need to keep him stashed. He could wind up making his season debut later this month. If he's out there on the waiver wire and you have room, pick him up now.
