St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha (shoulder) will increase his pre-throwing program Tuesday, July 22, and could start throwing in two weeks, according to general manager John Mozeliak. Mozeliak said the team was encouraged by the results of Wacha's MRI and CT scan. Mozeliak said Wacha could return to the team at some point during September.

He has been going through shoulder strengthening exercises and increasing his calcium and vitamin D intake. "It feels a lot stronger, it's not as tight as it was," Wacha said. "I think we'll have some positive results"
Fantasy Tip: If the injury has healed, Wacha could be cleared to begin throwing. If all goes well, he could begin a rehab assignment in around three weeks.

St. Louis Cardinals SP Michael Wacha (elbow) is unsure if he'll be able to make his next start after suffering a bruised elbow after being hit by a foul ball in the dugout Wednesday, May 21. "I think he's going to be fine," manager Mike Matheny said. "It was just tightening up a bit. Yeah, we would have liked to have thrown him back out there for the seventh." Wacha gave up two hits in six scoreless innings during his outing Wednesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
