Twins | Byron Buxton sitting down vs. Atlanta

Wed, 27 Jul 2016 13:37:00 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 27. OF Eddie Rosario is starting in center field and batting sixth against Atlanta Braves SP Mike Foltynewicz Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Rosario is a fantasy asset on the rise with a .344/.359/.557 slash line over 16 July games, and Buxton hasn't been able to gain any traction at the dish with just a .674 OPS this month. Rosario is likely worth an add in deep mixed leagues, whereas Buxton isn't worth owning outside of cavernous mixed and AL-only settings.

Twins | Byron Buxton sitting vs. Boston

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 12:39:09 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 21. OF Eddie Rosario is starting in center field and batting ninth against Boston Red Sox SP Steven Wright Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Buxton cannot gain any traction at the dish and owns a .199/.246/.337 slash line through 182 plate appearances. It isn't out of the question to cut ties with the promising youngster. Rosario is heating up with a .348/.354/.609 line in July, and he could begin to see more consistent playing time if he continues to surge at the dish. Rosario is a potential low-priced flier in daily contests Thursday, too.

Twins | Minnesota resting three players

Sun, 17 Jul 2016 09:51:24 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Joe Mauer, 3B Miguel Sano and CB Byron Buxton are not in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Josh Tomlin Sunday, July 17. SS Eduardo Nunez will start at third base, while OF Robbie Grossman will serve as the designated hitter. 1B Kennys Vargas will start at first base and is batting third. OF Eddie Rosario will start in left field and is batting sixth, while OF Danny Santana will start in center field and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Vargas is hitting .400 with three home runs and four RBI since being recalled from the minor leagues and should be a decent option in daily fantasy leagues. Rosario has 12 hits in his last five games and should be used in starting lineups. Santana has at least one hit in five of his last seven games, but owners probably will be able to find better options.

Twins | Byron Buxton back in the lineup

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 12:47:49 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton (knee) is starting in center field and batting ninth against Cleveland Indians SP Carlos Carrasco Friday, July 15.

Fantasy Tip: Buxton continues to disappoint and owns an underwhelming .236/.272/.396 slash line through 31 games since his latest recall from the minors. You may regret cutting ties, but at this pint, Buxton likely isn't worth rostering outside of deep mixed and AL-only leagues.

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 18:37:13 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Despite being carted off the field, Buxton could wind up playing again before the All-Star break. The 22-year-old is batting .212 with one home run and 12 RBI through 48 contests and should be avoided in DFS despite hitting safely in six consecutive games entering play Friday.

Twins | Byron Buxton suffers knee injury

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 18:07:07 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton (knee) was removed from the game after crashing into the outfield wall during the bottom of the first inning Friday, July 8, versus the Texas Rangers. He was carted off the field and appeared to be unable to put any pressure on his right knee. Buxton was replaced in center field by OF Eddie Rosario.

Fantasy Tip: This appears to be serious but the team has not released an update yet on the severity of Buxton's injury. The 22-year-old is batting just .212 with one home run and 12 RBI through 48 games but had carried a six-game hitting streak into Friday's contest. Keep checking back for updates on Buxton's status and if he is forced to go on the disabled list, expect Rosario and SS/OF Danny Santana to share time in center field.
