Sat, 22 Aug 2015 19:47:56 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton went 2-for-4 with a double and his first major league RBI in a 3-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, Aug. 22.

Fantasy Tip: Buxton has hit safely in all three games since being recalled, and when he is added to the player pool at FantasyScore, he could be worth a look at FantasyScore depending on his price.

Twins | Byron Buxton hitting leadoff

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 13:17:22 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton is hitting leadoff against Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez Thursday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: With Aaron Hicks on the DL, Buxton will be the starting center fielder, and he could stick in the role if he can perform at the plate. The heralded prospect has yet to find success in limited time in the bigs so far, so be hesitant to use him on FantasyScore just yet. He should be owned in all leagues otherwise.

Twins | Byron Buxton recalled to face Orioles

Thu, 20 Aug 2015 09:23:50 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton will be recalled from Class AAA Rochester to face Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez Thursday, Aug. 20, in place of injured OF Aaron Hicks (hamstring).

Fantasy Tip: Buxton has been batting .400 with a home run, three doubles and a triple in 13 games for Rochester since being activated off the DL Aug. 10. He faces a struggling Miguel Gonzalez who is 0-2 with a 6.64 ERA in his last four starts. It is risky to start a rookie in his first game back, but the matchup is intriguing.

Twins | Aaron Hicks placed on DL

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 14:23:29 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Aaron Hicks (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain after the game Wednesday, Aug. 19, and OF Byron Buxton will rejoin the Twins from the minors in a corresponding move. Hicks is believed to be dealing with a minor strain, but Minnesota doesn't want to play short-handed, according to manager Paul Molitor. Buxton was hitting .400 with a home run, three doubles and a triple in 13 games for Class AAA Rochester since coming off the DL Aug. 10.

Fantasy Tip: It's a bummer for Hicks ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) owners, as he had really turned it on in the second half of the season. Keep him stashed in deeper mixed and AL-only leagues, but know that he may not see everyday playing time when he's ready to return. Buxton is the team's top overall prospect, but he has struggled in his limited time in the majors so far. He should be picked up in all leagues if he's available, but take a wait-and-see approach with him on FantasyScore to see if he can translate his minor league success to the majors once and for all.

Twins | Byron Buxton looking healthy

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 11:22:19 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton had three more hits for Class AAA Rochester Wednesday, Aug. 12, and he's hitting .417 (10-for-24) with three walks, six runs scored and four RBI in his six games with the Red Wings recently. He's also in the midst of a 14-game minor league hitting streak going back to June 4. It's believed that Buxton will rejoin the Twins when rosters expand September 1.

Fantasy Tip: Buxton ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is a five-tool talent that remains one of the most promising prospects in baseball, but he hasn't been able to put it together yet in a small sample size at the major league level. He'll probably be back in the majors next month, but how much will he contribute with Aaron Hicks playing well? He's unlikely to make a huge fantasy impact for the rest of this year, so temper your expectations if you're stashing him in a deep league. He should be owned in all keeper and dynasty formats.

Twins | Byron Buxton activated, optioned

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 10:46:23 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton (thumb) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Monday, Aug. 10, and optioned to Class AAA Rochester.

Fantasy Tip: With Aaron Hicks playing and hitting well in center field for Minnesota, the Twins thought it'd be best for Buxton ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) to get more minor league seasoning, since he had disappointed with only seven hits in 37 at-bats (.189) before his injury. He'll likely be back when rosters expand in September, but until then, you can avoid him in shallow mixed leagues.

Twins | Byron Buxton to begin as DH

Thu, 06 Aug 2015 15:18:04 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton (thumb) will serve as the designated hitter when he begins his rehab assignment with Class AAA Rochester Friday, Aug. 7.

Fantasy Tip: Buxton ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has been sidelined since June 24, just 11 games into his MLB career. It will likely take him a while to get back up to speed, and fantasy owners will need to be patient.

Twins | Byron Buxton close to rehab assignment

Wed, 05 Aug 2015 16:24:41 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton (thumb) could begin a rehab assignment with Class AAA Rochester Friday, Aug. 7. Buxton has been out with a sprained left thumb since Wednesday, June 24.

Fantasy Tip: Buxton ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) could rejoin the Twins sooner than later, but where he fits into the lineup is unknown, especially with Aaron Hicks ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) scorching hot. After all, Buxton went just 7-for-37 with 15 strikeouts over his first 11 games. Buxton has huge upside, though, so he is worth owning in the majority of leagues.

Twins | Byron Buxton could return this month

Sat, 01 Aug 2015 11:08:19 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton (thumb) said his sprained left thumb was fully healed after taking on-field batting practice earlier this week. He is expected to travel to Fort Myers, Fla. in the next few days to face live pitching in batting practice. If all goes well, he could begin a minor league rehab assignment shortly thereafter, with a goal of returning to the majors later this month.

Fantasy Tip: Buxton ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) only had seven hits in 37 at-bats prior to suffering the thumb injury but he deserves to remain rostered in all formats due to his upside. He has spent his down time watching the at-bats of 2B Brian Dozier, 3B Trevor Plouffe and OF Torii Hunter and has made slight adjustments to his own hitting approach based on what he has observed.

Twins | Byron Buxton progressing

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 14:45:56 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton (thumb) said he plans on taking batting practice again in the next few days. Manager Paul Molitor said Buxton will head to Fort Myers, Fla., for a rehab assignment this weekend or early next week.

Fantasy Tip: Buxton ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is still likely several weeks away from returning to action for the Twins, and they don't need to rush him back with Aaron Hicks heating up. Buxton was hitting only .189 (7-for-37) after being called up to the major leagues, but his raw abilities and upside are reasons for keeping him stashed in most leagues.
