Seattle Mariners RP Stephen Pryor (shoulder), who missed almost all of the 2013 season with shoulder problems, is just beginning a throwing program at his offseason home in Tennessee, and he doesn't figure to be game ready until several months into the season, trainer Rob Nodine said on Thursday, Jan. 23. Pryor had surgery to repair a torn latissimus dorsi muscle on Aug. 9 after attempting to return much of last year following an early-season injury.

The Seattle Mariners are active in trade discussions that involve RP Tom Wilhelmsen and RP Oliver Perez, according to a source.
Fantasy Tip: If the M's were able to deal both players, save situations would likely be handled on a committee basis. Yoervis Medina would probably be the top candidate for them, however. Stephen Pryor (lat) and Carter Capps (on the farm) could also factor in eventually.

Seattle Mariners RP Stephen Pryor (shoulder) has tossed three scoreless outings with Triple-A Tacoma during his rehab assignment, last pitching Wednesday, July 24. "I think it's coming in the near future, but I'm not sure what days," said the hard-throwing right-hander. "If I get through that and everything goes fine, that's kind of the test. But I've felt good. Mechanically, everything has been good. I'm just kind of working on pitches and trying to get back to where I was."

Updating a previous report, Seattle Mariners RP Stephen Pryor (shoulder), who is recovering from a torn muscle in his throwing shoulder, is expected to work in a minor-league rehab game with Class A Everett Tuesday, July 16, or Wednesday, July 17, according to manager Eric Wedge. "Then we'll go from there, but probably send him to (Triple-A) Tacoma from there. We need to give him some time, but he looked good (in a bullpen session)," Wedge said Sunday, July 14.

Seattle Mariners RP Tom Wilhelmsen will not close for at least the next two or three games. The team wants to see him work in non-save situations, working on better location for his pitches. Manager Eric Wedge said Friday, June 14, that the team will mix and match save opportunities, with no specific pitchers mentioned.
Fantasy Tip: Don't drop Wilhelmsen anywhere yet. Eric Wedge seemingly is aiming to get him back into the role; the goal of having the righty work on his pitches says this looks temporary. However, Carter Capps has closer-like skills, and if Wilhelmsen stumbles, Capps could take over. He's the first one you should pick up. Of course, it's stated to be a mix-and-match situation, so other relievers, such as Yoervis Medina and Charlie Furbush (for lefty situations) could be used and net AL-only managers some points, as well. If this problem lingers, maybe Stephen Pryor (lat) will have a say later in the year.
