Brewers | Milwaukee re-calls two

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 17:52:24 -0700

The Milwaukee Brewers will re-call OF Logan Schafer and 2B Elian Herrera from Class AAA Colorado Springs Friday, July 31, to fill the roster spots of OF Carlos Gomez and SP Mike Fiers who were traded to the Houston Astros.

Fantasy Tip: Schafer hit for a .182 batting average with zero home runs in 40 plate appearances in the major leagues this season, while Herrera hit .212 with four home runs. Neither will deserve much FantasyScore consideration.

Brewers | Aramis Ramirez not in the lineup

Sun, 31 May 2015 10:27:15 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 31. INF Elian Herrera will be the starting third baseman for the Brewers.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return soon. Herrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has recorded four RBI in his last six games but may not be the best option on FantasyScore since he is batting .220 this season.

Brewers | Elian Herrera starting Saturday.

Sat, 30 May 2015 12:11:52 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Elian Herrera will start at second base against the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday, May 30. 2B Hector Gomez is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has four home runs and 14 RBIs in only 89 at-bats but is hitting just .225 on the season. Better options are available in FantasyScore for a comparable price.

Brewers | Aramis Ramirez will not start

Sun, 24 May 2015 07:49:32 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 24. INF Elian Herrera will receive the start at third base, while INF Hector Gomez will start at second base.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is receiving a day off Sunday and should return for the next game. Herrera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has only four hits in his last eight games and is not a great option on FantasyScore. Gomez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting .217 this season and should not be a starting option.

Brewers | MIL to split time at 2B

Tue, 19 May 2015 17:32:33 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SSs Hector Gomez and Elian Herrera will both receive playing time at second base, according to manager Craig Counsell Tuesday, May 19. Counsell said he'll decide who will start on a nightly basis.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is best known for his defensive play, but Counsell said Gomez has shown extra-base hit potential. Herrera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is a switch-hitter, which could lead to more playing time. As of now, neither is a strong FantasyScore option, but if either one is able to find some sort of groove at the plate, they could make for an excellent bargain play.

Brewers | Elian Herrera draws start at 3B

Mon, 18 May 2015 11:32:44 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Elian Herrera is starting at third base and hitting sixth in the batting order against Detroit Tigers SP Kyle Lobstein Monday, May 18, with 3B Aramis Ramirez serving as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), a switch hitter, surprisingly has four home runs and 10 RBI on the season in 62 at-bats. It's worth noting that three of his four homers have come against southpaws, making him an interesting deep sleeper at FantasyScore on a day without many games to choose from.

Brewers | Aramis Ramirez not starting again

Wed, 13 May 2015 11:38:45 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez (back) continues to sit out Wednesday, May 13. 2B Elian Herrera is starting at third base again and hitting sixth in the batting order against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is only hitting .228 (13-for-62), but he does have some pop with four home runs and 10 RBI on the season. He also fares much better against lefties this year (.313-3-4) than against righties. Herrera, who homered last night, may be a sneaky value play at FantasyScore.

Brewers | Aramis Ramirez out again Monday

Mon, 11 May 2015 13:36:09 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez (back) is not in the starting lineup against the Chicago White Sox Monday, May 11. OF Elian Herrera is starting at third base and batting seventh Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) hasn't played since Thursday, May 7, and a stint on the disabled list looms if he cannot play sooner than later. He was just turning the corner offensively before the injury, too, going 14-for-41 with three home runs and nine RBI over his last 13 games. Herrera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should be viewed as nothing more than a low-priced flier for FantasyScore contests.

Brewers | Elian Herrera playing Sunday

Sun, 10 May 2015 08:21:48 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers INF Elian Herrera will start at third base against the Chicago Cubs Sunday, May 10.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has not had a lot of success at the plate in his limited playing time this season. Owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use.

Brewers | Elian Herrera hitting second

Tue, 21 Apr 2015 16:17:19 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Elian Herrera will start at second base and hit second in the order Tuesday, April 21, against the Cincinnati Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera is a career .261-hitter in the major leagues, but got off to an excellent start for the Brewers Class-AAA affiliate, with a .422 batting average through 11 games and 52 plate appearances. Herrera is unlikely to carry his hot-start over to the majors, but could make for a short-term, cheap option on FantasyScore.
