The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled OF Scott Van Slyke from the minors Friday, May 10, and optioned INF Elian Herrera in a corresponding move. Also, SP Chad Billingsley (elbow) was moved to the 60-day disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Van Slyke didn't turn any heads in his major league debut last year, but he has some pop in his stick. He has shown solid plate discipline at the minors' top level, but it remains to be seen if he can beat major league pitchers regularly. He'll likely serve as depth with Carl Crawford continuing to battle nagging injuries.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will place OF/INF Jerry Hairston Jr. (groin) on the disabled list Tuesday, May 7, and INF Elian Herrera has been recalled from the minors to take his spot on the roster.

Fantasy Tip: Hairston was mainly being used as a super utility player with the rash of injuries that the Dodgers have suffered this year. Herrera will be used in a similar fashion but will only be useful in deep NL-only fantasy leagues.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have reassigned INF Alfredo Amezaga, C Matt Wallach and RPs Kevin Gregg and Peter Moylan to minor league camp. OFs Alex Castellanos and Elian Herrera and RPs Stephen Fife and Josh Wall were optioned to minor league camp.

The Los Angeles Dodgers activated SS Dee Gordon (thumb) from the 60-day disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 11, and recalled P Stephen Fife and INF Elian Herrera from Triple-A Albuquerque in corresponding moves. 2B Adam Kennedy (groin) was also moved to the 60-day disabled list with a strained right groin.
