Jaguars | Defend Bryan Anger selection in draft

While many have criticized the Jacksonville Jaguars for selecting P Bryan Anger in the third round of the NFL Draft, general manager Gene Smith said once people see Anger punt the criticism will fade. "He's got rare leg talent, and I think it would be evident to all of you when you see him perform," Smith said.

When the Jacksonville Jaguars drafted P Bryan Anger with the 70th pick overall in the NFL Draft Friday, April 27, he became the highest drafted punter since the Chicago Bears drafted P Todd Sauerbrun 56th overall in 1995. No other punter has been selected in the Top 100 picks since.
