White Sox | Brett Lawrie sitting vs. Tigers

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 13:12:52 -0700

Chicago White Sox 2B Brett Lawrie (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 22. INF Tyler Saladino is starting at second base and batting eighth against Detroit Tigers SP Michael Fulmer Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Lawrie injured his hamstring Thursday, July 21, and he's currently considered day-to-day. He sits with a decent stat line of 35 runs, 12 home runs, 36 RBI and seven stolen bases. However, sitting with a .248/.310/.413 slash line leaves owners wishing for more. Saladino isn't much of a fantasy priority facing Fulmer Friday.

White Sox | Three-hit night for Tyler Saladino

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 20:42:52 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Tyler Saladino went 3-for-5 with a run scored Wednesday, July 20, against the Seattle Mariners to raise his average to .265.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino's playing time has been sporadic to say the least, but when he gets the chance he has made the most of the opportunity lately. Still, he cannot be trusted in anything but the deepest of AL-only fantasy leagues at this point.

White Sox | Tim Anderson, Avisail Garcia out

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 10:01:07 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Tim Anderson and OF Avisail Garcia are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 20. SS Tyler Saladino is starting at shortstop and hitting ninth, while 1B Justin Morneau is serving as the designated hitter and batting cleanup against Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez. Also, OF Melky Cabrera moves into the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: There's not much to like about Saladino hitting ninth for DFS purposes against King Felix in his return. However, both Melky and Morneau can be under-the-radar value plays in prime lineup spots. Hernandez has put up good numbers but isn't his usual dominant self this year and is making his first start back today after a long layoff.

White Sox | Tyler Saladino draws a start

Wed, 29 Jun 2016 14:39:33 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Tyler Saladino is starting at third base and is hitting ninth against Minnesota Twins SP Ricky Nolasco Wednesday, June 29. 3B Todd Frazier moves over to first base, 1B Jose Abreu is serving as the designated hitter and OF Avisail Garcia is in left field with OF Melky Cabrera (wrist) out.

Fantasy Tip: With Melky missing at least a few days, Saladino could sub in regularly in the short term. He's hitting just .250 on the year, though, and has just eight homers in the last two seasons, so his offensive upside is low. Look elsewhere tonight for a DFS sleeper at shortstop.

White Sox | Tyler Saladino playing third base Sunday

Sun, 26 Jun 2016 08:54:02 -0700

Chicago White Sox INF Tyler Saladino is batting ninth and playing third base against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marcus Stroman Sunday, June 26. 3B Todd Frazier is batting fifth and serving as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino is batting just .188 through 32 at-bats during the month of June and should not be viewed as a great option in any fantasy format Sunday.

White Sox | Jose Abreu sitting vs. Blue Jays

Fri, 24 Jun 2016 14:12:39 -0700

Chicago White Sox 1B Jose Abreu is not in the starting lineup Friday, June 24. SS Tyler Saladino draws into the lineup at third base and is batting ninth against Toronto Blue Jays SP Aaron Sanchez Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Sub out Abreu where you can in seasonal leagues. He is having a huge June with five home runs, 20 RBI and a .333/.382/.615 slash line and should be viewed as a slam-dunk starter in all settings. Saladino is nothing more than a depth option in cavernous mixed and AL-only setups, as his playing time has plummeted with the promotion of Tim Anderson.

White Sox | Todd Frazier out of Tuesday lineup

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 13:01:41 -0700

Chicago White Sox 3B Todd Frazier is not in the lineup Tuesday, June 14, against the Detroit Tigers. SS Tyler Saladino is starting at third base and hitting ninth against Tigers SP Jordan Zimmermann.

Fantasy Tip: Frazier has no hits in his last 10 at-bats and is hitting .107 in the last week, so this is merely a night off to give him a break. Saladino is also a light hitter and carries little fantasy value.

White Sox | Tyler Saladino sitting vs. Nats

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 13:14:15 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Tyler Saladino is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 8. SS Jimmy Rollins is starting at shortstop and batting sixth against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino has started each of the past four games at the 6, and it appears he is poised to see the majority of starts at the position going forward. However, he offers limited fantasy value and should be left to cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Rollins is only relevant in similar deep setups, and he is a poor option in daily contests against Scherzer Wednesday.

White Sox | Avisail Garcia, Jimmy Rollins sitting

Tue, 07 Jun 2016 15:08:43 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Avisail Garcia and SS Jimmy Rollins are not in the starting lineup Tuesday, June 7. OF J.B. Shuck is serving as the designated hitter and is batting seventh, while SS Tyler Saladino is starting at the 6 and is hitting ninth against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross.

Fantasy Tip: Both Shuck and Saladino are low-end desperation picks in daily formats while hitting near the bottom of the order. Saladino has been starting more lately over Rollins but is limited offensively with a slash line of .256/.283/.395 and three home runs and 14 RBI.

White Sox | Tyler Saladino batting second vs. Tigers

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 12:50:50 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Tyler Saladino is starting at shortstop and batting second against Detroit Tigers SP Jordan Zimmermann Friday, June 3, and White Sox SS Jimmy Rollins is batting seventh as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino is making the most of his opportunities going 20-for-74 with 10 runs, three home runs and 13 RBI, and he receives a nice fantasy boost in daily contests batting second Friday. His lack of consistent playing time limits his value to cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues, though. Rollins has gone 23 games with a single multi-hit showing and sports a .195/.258/.280 slash line. He is a desperation start in all fantasy formats at this point.
