White Sox | Avisail Garcia, Jimmy Rollins out

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 12:42:37 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Avisail Garcia and SS Jimmy Rollins are not in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Kevin Gausman Saturday, April 30. INF Tyler Saladino will bat second and play shortstop, while OF Jerry Sands will bat seventh and serve as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino is batting .174 with a home run and three RBI in 24 at-bats, while Sands is 5-for-20 with a home run and three RBI. Both players should be viewed as sources of desperation salary cap relief in daily fantasy games.

White Sox | Jimmy Rollins not playing

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 10:30:33 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Jimmy Rollins is not in the starting lineup against Texas Rangers SP Derek Holland Sunday, April 24. SS Tyler Saladino will start at shortstop and is batting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino has only one hit in his last 11 at-bats, but the one hit was a home run. Owners in most leagues should be able to find better players to use in their lineups.

White Sox | Avisail Garcia, Jimmy Rollins out

Fri, 22 Apr 2016 14:35:11 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Avisail Garcia and SS Jimmy Rollins are not in the starting lineup Friday, April 22. OF Jerry Sands is serving as the designated hitter and batting seventh, while SS Tyler Saladino is at the 6 and is hitting ninth against Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez. Also, OF Austin Jackson moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: Garcia is losing fantasy appeal very quickly with his .146 start (7-for-48 with two home runs), and he could lose more playing time to Sands. With that said, Sands has plenty of home run pop but has his daily value capped hitting low in the order. Saladino did homer the other day but shouldn't garner much attention in any format. A-Jax has a favorable lineup spot but is hitting only .170 and remains a low-end fantasy commodity.

White Sox | Two White Sox out of the lineup

Wed, 20 Apr 2016 08:31:57 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Jimmy Rollins and OF Avisail Garcia are out of the lineup Wednesday, April 20. SS Tyler Saladino is hitting second, and 1B Jerry Sands is hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino is 3-for-11 (.273) on the season devoid of many counting stats. He and Sands don't carry the clout for a DFS start against Garrett Richards.

White Sox | Three CWS regulars sitting Sunday

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 09:35:21 -0700

Chicago White Sox OF Melky Cabrera, C Alex Avila and SS Jimmy Rollins are out of the starting lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays Sunday, April 17. OF Jerry Sands will bat fifth and serve as the designated hitter, C Dioner Navarro will bat eighth and SS Tyler Saladino will bat ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino and Sands are a combined 5-for-14 at the dish with one home run and four RBI, making them worthy of consideration as inexpensive fliers for daily games. Navarro is 1-for-16 and should be avoided in all formats during this ice-cold stretch.

White Sox | Jimmy Rollins out of lineup Sunday

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 09:00:03 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Jimmy Rollins is not in the starting lineup against Cleveland Indians SP Josh Tomlin Sunday, April 10. SS Tyler Saladino will play shortstop and bat ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Rollins, who is 3-for-21 through the first week of the regular season, should be removed from all fantasy lineups. Saladino is 2-for-4 this year and should be viewed as an inexpensive flier option for daily fantasy contests.

White Sox | Tyler Saladino continues to rake

Mon, 21 Mar 2016 23:08:27 -0700

Chicago White Sox SS Tyler Saladino went 1-for-3 with a double and RBI in the Cactus League spring game Monday, March 21, against the Cleveland Indians.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino isn't giving up the starting shortstop job without a fight. Saladino is hitting .286 with eight RBIs, as he tries to hold off veteran Jimmy Rollins for the starting gig. He is worth adding in the late rounds in AL-only fantasy play and as a handcuff to J-Roll.

White Sox | Jimmy Rollins expected to make team

Wed, 02 Mar 2016 15:15:58 -0800

Chicago White Sox SS Jimmy Rollins is expected to make the Opening Day roster, according to manager Robin Ventura. The plan is to have Rollins split time with SS Tyler Saladino for now. The White Sox will be careful with Rollins at his age, though, and Ventura doesn't want to overwork him.

Fantasy Tip: The fact that Rollins and Saladino will likely platoon at short this year immediately caps both of their fantasy value. Despite his age, Rollins is probably a bit more attractive for those in AL-only leagues for his potential to post double-digit homers and stolen bases.

White Sox | Jimmy Rollins could move around

Mon, 22 Feb 2016 17:06:02 -0800

Chicago White Sox SS Jimmy Rollins could play second and third base, in addition to shortstop. Rollins could also serve as a designated hitter on occasion. Rollins and SP Tyler Saladino will compete at shortstop this spring. Saladino played only 11 games at shortstop in his rookie season in 2015, but Rollins hit just .224 with 13 home runs and 41 RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Rollins figures to provide the White Sox some infield depth in part-time duty. Even at his age, Rollins could squeak out another rebound year and has the ability to post double digits in homers and steals if he sees enough playing time. J-Roll is strictly an AL-only target for depth, though.

White Sox | Chicago likes Tyler Saladino at SS

Sat, 13 Feb 2016 07:36:45 -0800

Chicago White Sox SS Tyler Saladino is the leading candidate for the shortstop job because the team believes he can have good at-bats and play well defensively at the position.

Fantasy Tip: Saladino received most of his playing time at third base last season but should see most of his time at shortstop in 2016. Saladino did not post great numbers last season and probably is an AL-only option at this point.
