Giants | Larry Donnell on top of depth chart

Mon, 08 Aug 2016 15:30:25 -0700

New York Giants TE Larry Donnell is listed as the starting tight end on the team's first depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: Donnell posted decent numbers in 2015 before he suffered his neck injury but will have a chance to keep the job during the preseason. Donnell probably would be a No. 2 tight end in most fantasy leagues if he wins the job.

Giants | Matt LaCosse in mix to start

Tue, 02 Aug 2016 22:10:46 -0700

New York Giants TE Matt LaCosse was impressive in the spring, earning first-team snaps in practice, and he continues to get them in training camp. He has worked his way into a three-man race for the starting tight end job with TEs Larry Donnell and Will Tye.

Fantasy Tip: LaCosse isn't worth drafting just yet, but if he continues to see first-team reps and has a good training camp and preseason, he might very well emerge as a fantasy option.

Giants | Will Tye the favorite?

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 12:16:34 -0700

New York Giants TE Will Tye is the favorite to start at tight end over TE Larry Donnell, in the opinion of NJ.com's Dan Duggan. TE Matt LaCosse is also expected to compete for the starting job.

Fantasy Tip: This position battle could come down to preseason. Whoever wins, however, should not be viewed as a starting fantasy tight end.

Giants | Two expected to fight for Giants' TE job

Fri, 01 Jul 2016 13:16:14 -0700

New York Giants TE Larry Donnell and TE Will Tye are expected to compete for the starting tight end job during training camp.

Fantasy Tip: Donnell has more experience than Tye and may be more of an offensive threat, but Tye appears to be a more well-rounded tight end. Donnell would be a No. 2 tight end for fantasy owners if he wins the job but his value mostly depends on his touchdowns. Tye probably would only be a low-end No. 2 tight end in deeper leagues.

Giants | Will Tye could start

Sun, 22 May 2016 10:40:52 -0700

New York Giants TE Will Tye's pass-catching potential and athleticism make him the favorite to start at tight end in 2016 for the Giants, in the opinion of Jordan Raanan of NJ.com. TEs Larry Donnell, Matt LaCosse and Jerell Adams will also be competing.

Fantasy Tip: Larry Donnell's status remains shaky with the neck injury he suffered last year. Tye seems to be next in line if the Giants aren't convinced that Donnell is ready to start, but neither Donnell nor Tye are starting tight end materialy anyway.

Giants | Larry Donnell had serious injury

Tue, 26 Apr 2016 14:07:32 -0700

New York Giants TE Larry Donnell (neck) said he had a broken bone in his neck last year to a certain extent, adding that the injury was worse than he thought.

Fantasy Tip: Donnell missed half of last season because of the injury after a TE1 campaign the previous year. He still has TE1 potential if he can stay healthy, but he's just too much of a risk to draft as a starting fantasy tight end right now.

Giants | Larry Donnell financials

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 11:10:10 -0700

Updating a previous report, New York Giants TE Larry Donnell re-signed his one-year restricted free-agent tender worth $1.67 million Tuesday, April 19, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: There's always risk in drafting a player who is coming off a prolonged injury. Donnell has low-end TE1 potential if he can stay on the field, but it's safer to draft him as a TE2.

Giants | Larry Donnell re-signs

Tue, 19 Apr 2016 10:29:35 -0700

New York Giants TE Larry Donnell re-signed an undisclosed deal with the Giants Tuesday, April 19.

Fantasy Tip: Donnell suffered a serious neck injury last year and missed most of the season. He's been cleared for activities this offseason and should be ready for training camp, however. He had a career-high 63 catches and six touchdowns in 2014, but that very well may have been his ceiling. He's more of a red zone threat for the G-Men and is a midrange TE2.

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 10:31:07 -0800

New York Giants TE Larry Donnell (neck) received full clearance from doctors, according to his agent, Tamika Cheatham.

Fantasy Tip: Donnell will fall into the midrange TE2 range that could provide value later in drafts.

Giants | Larry Donnell receives low tender

Thu, 03 Mar 2016 11:06:21 -0800

New York Giants impending free-agent TE Larry Donnell received a low tender worth $1.67 million from the Giants Thursday, March 3.

Fantasy Tip: Donnell could easily be stolen away by another team this offseason. He had just 29 catches for 223 yards and two touchdowns in 2015 after a career-high six scores the year before. He's an inconsistent tight end weapon who is more of a red-zone threat. Donnell is unlikely to be much more than a low-end fantasy backup again in 2016.
