Tue, 11 Jun 2013 09:52:47 -0700 New York Mets 1B Josh Satin had his contract purchased from Triple-A Las Vegas. The Mets also recalled OF Collin Cowgill and RP Josh Edgin from Las Vegas. Fantasy Tip: Satin, 28, had modest numbers in the minors until he ended up with the 51s, for whom he's batted .305 with nine home runs in 264 plate appearances. There isn't reason to think that he's suddenly figured something out so much as Las Vegas' hitting environment has aided his numbers. He'll serve as a reserve initially, although it's conceivable that he gains PT if Jordany Valdespin doesn't work out at second base and Daniel Murphy has to shift back there from first, where he's filling in for the demoted Ike Davis.
Sun, 09 Jun 2013 18:06:04 -0700 The New York Mets plan to promote OF Collin Cowgill, RP Josh Edgin and 1B Josh Satin from Triple-A Las Vegas Monday, June 10, according to a league source.
Sun, 28 Apr 2013 13:37:24 -0700 The New York Mets have optioned RP Josh Edgin to Double-A Binghamton. Manager Terry Collins said Edgin was sent to Binghamton instead of Triple-A Las Vegas so that he could be recalled quickly if needed and also to help him regain his confidence instead of sending him to the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. He went 0-1 with a 9.64 ERA in 11 appearances this season.
Thu, 14 Mar 2013 16:00:50 -0700 New York Mets RPs Pedro Feliciano, Scott Rice and Robert Carson are all in competition for a spot in the team's bullpen, but there is a chance that none of them crack the roster. RP Josh Edgin is the lone lefty that is secured a spot in the bullpen. RP Darin Gorski was sent to the minors and the team is stretching RP Aaron Laffey out as a starter. Carson may have the advantage since he's already on the 40-man roster. The team may choose to carry RP Jeurys Familia over these three, however.
Thu, 28 Feb 2013 16:37:14 -0800 New York Mets RP Pedro Feliciano (heart) will wear a heart monitor on the field when he pitches. Feliciano must beat out RPs Robert Carson, Darin Gorski, Scott Rice and Aaron Laffey to become the other lefty reliever alongside RP Josh Edgin in the bullpen.
Thu, 21 Feb 2013 12:39:56 -0800 New York Mets manager Terry Collins said RP Josh Edgin worked on a sinker this offseason that should make him more effective against right-handed hitters.
Tue, 12 Feb 2013 11:48:50 -0800 New York Mets RP Pedro Feliciano has the leg up on an open bullpen spot to join RP Josh Edgin as the second lefty reliever. P Scott Rice could also get a strong look in camp, and RPs Robert Carson and Aaron Laffey are other possibilities.
Tue, 12 Feb 2013 10:28:17 -0800 New York Mets RP Frank Francisco (elbow) is dealing with right elbow inflammation and is being held back from throwing. Francisco had a bone spur removed from his elbow in December, and manager Terry Collins said the inflammation isn't unexpected. If Francisco can't be ready for the start of the season, RPs Bobby Parnell and Brandon Lyon are closing candidates. RPs LaTroy Hawkins and Josh Edgin would also get looks in the ninth-inning in spring training.
Thu, 27 Dec 2012 11:44:57 -0800 New York Mets RP Aaron Laffey could compete for a spot as the team's No. 5 starter in spring training, but general manager Sandy Alderson said the team wants to look at more expensive free-agent pitchers to fill the vacant spot in the rotation first. Laffey will receive an invite to spring training and could compete with RPs Josh Edgin, Robert Carson and Darin Gorski for a bullpen job, too.
Thu, 20 Sep 2012 13:37:17 -0700 New York Mets RP Josh Edgin will be shut down for the year after one more relief outing due to a heavy workload this year.
