Sun, 28 Apr 2013 13:37:24 -0700 The New York Mets have optioned RP Josh Edgin to Double-A Binghamton. Manager Terry Collins said Edgin was sent to Binghamton instead of Triple-A Las Vegas so that he could be recalled quickly if needed and also to help him regain his confidence instead of sending him to the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. He went 0-1 with a 9.64 ERA in 11 appearances this season.
Thu, 14 Mar 2013 16:00:50 -0700 New York Mets RPs Pedro Feliciano, Scott Rice and Robert Carson are all in competition for a spot in the team's bullpen, but there is a chance that none of them crack the roster. RP Josh Edgin is the lone lefty that is secured a spot in the bullpen. RP Darin Gorski was sent to the minors and the team is stretching RP Aaron Laffey out as a starter. Carson may have the advantage since he's already on the 40-man roster. The team may choose to carry RP Jeurys Familia over these three, however.

Tue, 12 Feb 2013 10:28:17 -0800 New York Mets RP Frank Francisco (elbow) is dealing with right elbow inflammation and is being held back from throwing. Francisco had a bone spur removed from his elbow in December, and manager Terry Collins said the inflammation isn't unexpected. If Francisco can't be ready for the start of the season, RPs Bobby Parnell and Brandon Lyon are closing candidates. RPs LaTroy Hawkins and Josh Edgin would also get looks in the ninth-inning in spring training.
Thu, 27 Dec 2012 11:44:57 -0800 New York Mets RP Aaron Laffey could compete for a spot as the team's No. 5 starter in spring training, but general manager Sandy Alderson said the team wants to look at more expensive free-agent pitchers to fill the vacant spot in the rotation first. Laffey will receive an invite to spring training and could compete with RPs Josh Edgin, Robert Carson and Darin Gorski for a bullpen job, too.

Francisco was working on back-to-back days for the first time since returning from the disabled list Aug. 3, and he said he was tired. "They wore me out a little bit. I'm a little out of shape," the closer said. "I just got tired. ... It's my first time back-to-back since when? A long time. But we got a 'W.' That's the important thing."
