Nationals | Ben Revere to hit leadoff

Thu, 21 Jan 2016 10:47:10 -0800

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere will be Washington's leadoff hitter this year, according to manager Dusty Baker. Revere will share time with OF Michael Taylor in center field.

Fantasy Tip: Revere's best assets to his fantasy owners are his ability to steal bases and hit for a high average. With Washington he should be able to score more runs, too, although his fantasy value is limited because of an expected platoon role in center field. If the Nats sign Yoenis Cespedes, things get even more hazy for the speedster.

Nationals | Denard Span unlikely to Nats

Thu, 07 Jan 2016 09:51:04 -0800

Free-agent OF Denard Span (Nationals) is unlikely to re-sign with the Washington Nationals, according to general manager Mike Rizzo. Rizzo appears to be satisfied with OF Michael Taylor playing center field.

Fantasy Tip: Span is a much better single-universe outfielder than mixed leaguer, but he'll have fringe value. Taylor showed flashes last year, and he's right around Span's threshold as a depth outfielder with some upside in mixed leagues.

Nationals | Michael Taylor on the bench

Sat, 03 Oct 2015 07:58:01 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) likely will be in the lineup for the second game and is receiving the first game off. den Dekker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has eight hits, two home runs and three RBI over his last six games and by be a cheaper option if owners on FantasyScore wants to use an expensive player at another position.

Nationals | Michael Taylor back in the lineup

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 14:52:07 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor (knee) is starting in center field and batting eighth against Atlanta Braves SP Williams Perez Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) only missed a single game due to knee swelling, so he carries minimal injury risky Wednesday. He is really struggling in September with a .195/.262/.247 slash line, though, so FantasyScore players should likely look elsewhere.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar, Michael Taylor are injured

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 14:24:46 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar (back) and OF Michael Taylor (knee) are injured, which is why they are not in the lineup Tuesday, Sept. 29. Taylor has knee swelling and Escobar is dealing with an upper back issue.

Fantasy Tip: With very few games left in the season, Washington might just choose to shut down Escobar ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) and Taylor ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) early since they are mathematically eliminated from postseason contention. Consider both of them very risky to close out the year on FantasyScore.

Nationals | Yunel Escobar, Michael Taylor resting

Tue, 29 Sep 2015 14:02:58 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Yunel Escobar and OF Michael Taylor are both resting Tuesday, Sept. 29, against the Atlanta Braves. SS Trea Turner and OF Matt den Dekker are in the lineup, with Turner hitting second and den Dekker hitting seventh against Braves SP Matt Wisler.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) and Taylor ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) appear to be getting normal nights off from the lineup, and this is Escobar's second day off in a row. Escobar is hitting .125 against Wisler and Taylor is a .200 career hitter. Turner ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) could be a deep sleeper entering 2016, as the Nationals are high enough on him to let Ian Desmond walk via free agency.

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Nola Saturday, Sept. 26. OF Matt den Dekker will play left field and bat seventh, with OF Bryce Harper batting third and playing center field.

Fantasy Tip: Remove Taylor ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) from your daily lineups. den Dekker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should be viewed as nothing more than desperation cap relief in FantasyScore.

Nationals | Michael Taylor has swollen knee

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 16:32:08 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor (knee) is dealing with a swollen right knee after crashing into the wall Aug. 27, and the injury has limited his range of motion. Manager Matt Williams said Taylor doesn't have any structural damage. "Michael's knee is really swollen," Williams said. "It's difficult for him to move today. I don't think it's on any particular (play recently), the knee just blows up. It's extremely swollen today. We are going to try to get it under control today."

Fantasy Tip: Right now, Taylor ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is day-to-day, but he could be out several more days to let the swelling subside. Make sure to avoid him until his knee is healthy again.

Nationals | Michael Taylor out Wednesday

Wed, 09 Sep 2015 12:49:18 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor (knee), who has been dealing with a sore right knee, is not in the lineup Wednesday, Sept. 9. OF Matt den Dekker draws into the lineup in left field and is hitting eighth against New York Mets SP Jacob deGrom.

Fantasy Tip: Try to avoid using den Dekker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) against deGrom on FantasyScore tonight. den Dekker has just 12 hits in 57 at-bats with two home runs and six RBI for the Nats as a bench player.
