Washington Nationals C Wilson Ramos is back in the starting lineup Friday, Aug. 15, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Ramos had a scheduled off-day Thursday, Aug. 14. He is batting seventh and starting behind the plate. OF Michael A. Taylor is starting in right field and batting eighth. Injured OF Jayson Werth (shoulder) remains out of the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Return Ramos to your fantasy lineups. Werth could be available off the bench tonight, and manager Matt Williams was optimistic Werth could return to the lineup Saturday, Aug. 16. Check back tomorrow for additional details on Werth's status.

Washington Nationals OF Jayson Werth (shoulder) received a cortisone shot in his injured shoulder Wednesday, Aug. 13, and probably will not play for a few days.

Fantasy Tip: Michael A. Taylor could pick up some starts with Werth out of the lineup. Owners in deeper mixed leagues could consider adding Taylor if they need an outfielder.

The Washington Nationals have called up OF Michael A. Taylor from Triple-A Syracuse. In a corresponding move, OF Steven Souza (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list due to a left shoulder contusion.

Nationals | Michael Taylor expected to start in minors

Washington Nationals OF Michael A. Taylor is expected to begin the year at Double-A Harrisburg. He's ranked by MLB.com as the team's fourth-best prospect in the minors. He hit .365 (50-for-137) with a .428 on-base percentage in the Puerto Rican Winter League this offseason. The Nationals think Taylor has the talent to be a starting center fielder in the big leagues, but his bat needs some work.

Washington Nationals manager Davey Johnson said OF Destin Hood is the team's most improved minor league player. "He has really honed his baseball instincts. I probably put him in the improved category along with Michael A. Taylor," Johnson said. "If you asked me to grade the improvement of guys when I first saw them. Hood is the most improved followed by Michael Taylor."

Washington Nationals OFs Michael A. Taylor and Destin Hood are thought of as the future of the team's outfield, along with OF Bryce Harper. Minor league evaluator Pat Corrales said Taylor could be the team's center fielder next year, but he'll likely begin at Single-A Potomac this year. Hood is likely to start off at Double-A Harrisburg.
