Nationals | Denard Span scratched late

Fri, 26 Jun 2015 15:02:53 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Denard Span (back) was a late scratch from the game Friday, June 26. OF Michael Taylor moves into center field and is hitting first, and OF Matt den Dekker is playing right field and batting eighth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Harang Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) receives a nice value boost setting the table for the Nats. den Dekker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) and Span ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) should be avoided in all formats. Make sure to check back on Span's availability for the rest of the series, as this isn't the first time he has missed time due to back spasms.

Nationals | Denard Span sitting vs. Rays

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 13:08:48 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Denard Span (back) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 17. OF Michael Taylor is batting eighth and playing center field against Tampa Bay Rays SP Steven Geltz Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Consider it more of a rest day than anything else for Span ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) Wednesday. He is having an excellent season and was riding a hot stretch, where he had reached base at a .441 clip over his past seven games with five runs, two doubles, three RBI and three stolen bases. When called upon, Taylor ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has been rather mediocre and sports a .651 OPS. He should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation flier for FantasyScore contests Wednesday.

Nationals | Denard Span scratched late

Tue, 09 Jun 2015 15:08:15 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Denard Span (back) was scratched from the game Tuesday, June 9, against the New York Yankees. OF Michael Taylor will take Span's place in center field.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) draws into a tough spot against RHP Masahiro Tanaka. Taylor has fared relatively well against righties this season, with a .245 average and three home runs in 102 plate appearances, but he carries plenty of risk against such an elite starting pitcher. Taylor should be left alone.

Nationals | Michael Taylor out of the lineup

Sat, 06 Jun 2015 07:19:58 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor is not in the starting lineup Saturday, June 6. 1B Clint Robinson is taking his place in the lineup and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup soon. Robinson ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has not done a lot at the plate this season and has a .232 batting average with three RBI. Owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use.

Nationals | Denard Span out again

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 13:51:50 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Denard Span (knee) remains out of the lineup for Game 2 of the doubleheader Tuesday, June 2. OF Michael Taylor will start in center field again and hit eighth in the batting order against Toronto Blue Jays SP Marco Estrada.

Fantasy Tip: The Nats are being cautious with Span during a double dip Tuesday. Taylor ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) went 1-for-4 with three K's in Game 1 and is hitting .222 on the season. He's a low-end outfield play on FantasyScore in the second game, especially hitting at the bottom of the order with fewer at-bats.

Nationals | Michael Taylor draws into lineup

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 12:37:44 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor is batting eighth and starting in center field against the Toronto Blue Jays Monday, June 1.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) is replacing Denard Span (knee) in center field, and Taylor will have a fleeting value boost in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues for the duration of Span's absence. However, unless he jumps up the lineup, his upside in FantasyScore contests is limited. Especially with Taylor currently mired in a 3-for-28 funk with a .433 OPS.

Nationals | Denard Span sitting vs. Blue Jays

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 12:27:56 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Denard Span (knee) is not in the starting lineup against the Toronto Blue Jays Monday, June 1. OF Michael Taylor is starting in center field and batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Span ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Monday, and check back for further details on the severity of his injury. Taylor ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) grabs a fleeting value boost in cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues, but batting eighth Monday limits his FantasyScore upside.

Nationals | Michael Taylor will play Friday

Fri, 29 May 2015 12:50:00 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor will be the starting left fielder for the team Friday, May 29.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has been part of a platoon in the outfield, so he is not seeing regular playing time. He has only two hits in his last 10 games and probably is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Nationals | Michael Taylor out of lineup Tuesday

Tue, 26 May 2015 12:32:07 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor is not starting Tuesday, May 26, against the Chicago Cubs. OF Tyler Moore is in left and batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) has a normal off night scheduled, or so it appears, so simply take him out of play for tonight. Moore ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has a .200 average in limited play last week, but that includes a home run so he may be worth the low cost.
