Nationals | Michael Taylor, Ryan Zimmerman out

Sun, 01 May 2016 08:09:44 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor and 1B Ryan Zimmerman are not in the starting lineup against St. Louis Cardinals SP Carlos Martinez Sunday, May 1. OF Matt den Dekker will bat leadoff and play center field, while 1B/OF Clint Robinson starts at first base and bats sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Den Dekker and Robinson are a combined 6-for-46 at the plate this season and are not recommended options this afternoon. Even as far as desperation fliers go in daily fantasy leagues, you can do better.

Nationals | Two Nats take a seat

Thu, 28 Apr 2016 09:23:57 -0700

Washington Nationals 3B Anthony Rendon and OF Michael Taylor are out of the lineup Thursday, April 28. OF Matt den Dekker is leading off, and 3B Stephen Drew is hitting eighth. C Wilson Ramos remains on the bereavement list with C Pedro Severino hitting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Drew and den Dekker are below the Mendoza Line and don't have enough upside for a start against Aaron Nola. Severino has four career at-bats, and he's not a great flyer either.

Nationals | Michael Taylor back in lineup Sunday

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 08:46:08 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor is back in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Tyler Duffey Sunday, April 24, batting second and playing center field.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor is batting just .161 with two home runs and three RBI through his first 62 at-bats this season, including a .152 mark versus righties. He should be avoided in all formats this afternoon.

Nationals | Michael Taylor not starting

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 07:51:01 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor is not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Phil Hughes Saturday, April 23. OF Chris Heisey will start in center field and is batting first in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Heisey has been used mostly as a pinch hitter this season and has three hits in 13 at-bats. Owners in most leagues should be able to find better players to use in their lineups and can avoid Heisey.

Nationals | Michael Taylor dropped in order

Thu, 21 Apr 2016 09:12:06 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor is hitting seventh in the batting order against Miami Marlins SP Tom Koehler Thursday, April 21.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor is hitting only .185 (10-for-54), but he did homer in the game Wednesday night. His power-speed combination should be owned in most fantasy leagues with Ben Revere on the DL, but a drop in the lineup Thursday makes Taylor less attractive in DFS.

Nationals | Three Nats regulars struggling

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 15:37:50 -0700

Washington Nationals OFs Michael Taylor and Jayson Werth and SS Danny Espinosa are all hitting under .172 to start the year and have on-base percentages under .290. However, manager Dusty Baker has seen encouraging signs from them and is committed to keeping all three in the regular lineup. Taylor is 6-for-41 with one walk to open the season. Espinosa has just two hits in his last 24 at-bats but sports a .219 average on balls in play, and his line-drive rate and walk rate are up.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor has the most fantasy upside of the group for his power-speed combination, and owners in all formats should have picked him up in the short term with Ben Revere on the DL.

Nationals | Washington sitting four starters

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 10:13:32 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor, 1B Ryan Zimmerman, C Wilson Ramos and SS Danny Espinosa are not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Charlie Morton Sunday, April 17. OF Chris Heisey will start in center field and is batting first. 1B Clint Robinson will start at first base and is batting sixth. SS Stephen Drew will start at shortstop and is batting seventh, while C Jose Lobaton will start at catcher and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: All four players in the starting lineup have not received a lot of playing time this season, but Heisey, Drew and Lobaton have posted decent batting averages so far. Owners probably should be able to find better options for their starting lineups and can avoid the players.

Nationals | Michael Taylor, Jayson Werth resting

Thu, 14 Apr 2016 09:42:27 -0700

Washington Nationals OFs Michael Taylor and Jayson Werth are not in the starting lineup Thursday, April 14. OF Chris Heisey is in left field and hitting leadoff, while OF Matt den Dekker is the center fielder and is batting seventh against Atlanta Braves SP Julio Teheran.

Fantasy Tip: Heisey has some notable pop as an extra. He hit a career-high 18 home runs with the Reds back in 2011, and he could pay off as a dart throw if you're looking to save money in daily leagues. Den Dekker can be ignored.

Nationals | Ben Revere still out

Wed, 06 Apr 2016 12:25:59 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere (rib cage) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 6. OF Michael Taylor is starting in center field and hitting leadoff in Revere's place.

Fantasy Tip: Revere's injury isn't believed to be serious, but the Nats are being cautious in the first week of the season. Taylor is a very nice short-term pickup in deep mixed leagues, though, for his power-speed combination.

Nationals | Ben Revere exits early

Mon, 04 Apr 2016 14:32:27 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere (undisclosed) was replaced by OF Michael Taylor during the game against the Atlanta Braves Monday, April 4.

Fantasy Tip: Expect an explanation for the premature exit sooner than later, and in the meantime, there is no reason to make any hasty roster decisions with Revere. However, a speculative add of Taylor isn't out of the question. He is only regular playing time away from being a potential starting option in mixed leagues. Stay tuned for updates.
