Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman activated

Tue, 26 Jul 2016 12:10:06 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (rib cage) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, July 26. The team also optioned OF Michael Taylor to Class AAA Syracuse.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman should receive most of the starts at first base since he is back from injury. He is hitting only .221 this season but should still be a decent starting option in most mixed leagues.

Nationals | Trea Turner leading off vs. Padres

Sun, 24 Jul 2016 07:44:53 -0700

Washington Nationals 2B Trea Turner is leading off, and OF Michael Taylor is batting seventh against San Diego Padres SP Christian Friedrich Sunday, July 24. OF Ben Revere is not in the starting lineup Sunday.

Fantasy Tip: Turner is just 6-for-31 during his latest seven games since being recalled from the minors, but he's receiving a long look and does have three stolen bases and two triples. He could push to stick with the big club. Taylor owns upside and has flashed a power-speed combo, but he also sits with a career .645 OPS. Don't fret fading him in daily contests Sunday. Revere is having a disappointing season (.216/.263/.303 slash line) and isn't worth a roster spot in most mixed leagues.

Nationals | Nats still pursuing Aroldis Chapman

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 17:32:06 -0700

New York Yankees RP Aroldis Chapman is believed to be the Washington Nationals' primary target prior to the non-waiver trade deadline Aug. 1. However, the club does not appear willing to part with INF Trea Turner or SPs Lucas Giolito or Reynaldo Lopez in a potential deal, according to a baseball source. The Yankees are reportedly looking for players that can contribute immediately at the MLB level, although they have had scouts attending games for affiliates ranging from Class A Hagerstown to Class AAA Syracuse. OF Michael Taylor is believed to be available, according to the source, but the Yankees' level of interest in him is unknown.

Fantasy Tip: The 28-year-old Chapman is 3-0 with a 2.22 ERA and 19 saves in 29 appearances this season, with eight walks and 40 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings and should be viewed as a high-end reliever regardless of the team he is playing for. However, his fantasy value should receive a slight boost if he is moved to a contender.

Nationals | Two Nationals out Thursday

Thu, 21 Jul 2016 06:31:05 -0700

Washington Nationals OFs Ben Revere and Jayson Werth are out of the lineup Thursday, July 21, with SS Trea Turner leading off and OF Chris Heisey hitting seventh. Also, OF Michael Taylor draws in at center field and is batting second.

Fantasy Tip: There was a tweet this morning that Turner has two of the highest three top speeds in running out a triple this season. Those wheels are an underrated part of his game as he stole 25 bags in the minors and has two in the majors. He has upside against left-hander Julio Urias today. Heisey has made a living off of left-handed pitching, and he's a sneaky basement option in DFS. Taylor has an intriguing power-speed comination and is also a decent value pick Thursday.

Nationals | Ben Revere not in Friday lineup

Fri, 15 Jul 2016 12:13:05 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Ben Revere is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 15, against the Pittsburgh Pirates. OF Michael Taylor will bat seventh against Pirates SP Francisco Liriano.

Fantasy Tip: Revere is out because a lefty is pitching for Pittsburgh, but with his .224-1-17 line you have to wonder if Revere will lose more playing time moving forward. Taylor's average of .228 isn't much better but he does have some pop (six homers), making him a slightly more desirable play in daily leagues.

Nationals | Trea Turner, Michael Taylor starting

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 07:31:39 -0700

Washington Nationals INF Trea Turner will bat leadoff and play second base against New York Mets SP Steven Matz Sunday, July 10, with INF Daniel Murphy hitting third and playing first base. In addition, OF Michael Taylor will bat seventh and play center field, with OF Ben Revere receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Turner is 3-for-3 with a double and a walk this season and is worthy of consideration as a value play in daily fantasy games because of his upside. Taylor is batting .286 in 63 at-bats since June 1, and is hitting .262 versus lefties and .271 in day games. He should be viewed as an inexpensive flier option in DFS.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman on DL, Trea Turner up

Fri, 08 Jul 2016 10:49:41 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman (rib cage) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday, July 8. OF Michael Taylor and SS Trea Turner were both recalled from the minors in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Despite homering Wednesday, Zimm had been slumping badly and was down to .221/.284/.402 on the season. He's probably not worth stashing in a lot of mixed leagues. Turner is a top shorstop prospect that had nothing left to prove on the farm. Speed is his greatest asset to fantasy owners, but he can also swing it, making him an immediate pickup in all leagues. Expect him to see playing time regularly at second with Daniel Murphy moving to first base. Taylor has an intriguing mix of power and speed, but he's purely outfield depth and can be left to NL-only rosters.

Nationals | Jonathan Papelbon activated

Mon, 04 Jul 2016 07:33:10 -0700

Washington Nationals RP Jonathan Papelbon (intercostal) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Monday, July 4. OF Michael Taylor was optioned to Class AAA Syracuse.

Fantasy Tip: Paps should be good to insert back into your lineups and resume closing games.

Nationals | Ryan Zimmerman, Anthony Rendon starting

Sun, 03 Jul 2016 08:43:15 -0700

Washington Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman and 3B Anthony Rendon are back in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds SP John Lamb Sunday, July 3. In addition, OF Michael Taylor will bat leadoff and play center field, with OF Ben Revere receiving the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Zimmerman is hitting just .174 in 86 at-bats since June 1, and should be avoided in daily fantasy formats this afternoon. Rendon is batting .254 overall but has a .293 mark versus southpaws, although he is still looking for his first home run off a left-hander in 2016. Taylor hit .310 with two home runs, six RBI and four steals during the month of June and is worth considering as a value play in DFS.

Nationals | Bryce Harper, Ben Revere sitting

Thu, 30 Jun 2016 12:09:12 -0700

Washington Nationals OFs Bryce Harper and Ben Revere are not in the starting lineup against Cincinnati Reds left-handed SP Brandon Finnegan Thursday, June 30. OF Michael Taylor is starting in center field and leading off, while OF Chris Heisey starts in right and is batting seventh. C Wilson Ramos moves into the cleanup spot.

Fantasy Tip: Harper and Revere have a routine day off against a southpaw. Get them out of your starting lineups. Taylor has a good combination of power and speed that plays well in the leadoff spot, and he's surely attractive as a low-priced outfielder in DFS. Heisey is more of a low-end play. Ramos is having the best fantasy season for a catcher this year and should be fired up everywhere.
