Astros | Evan Gattis keeps on raking

Wed, 25 May 2016 23:17:51 -0700

Houston Astros OF Evan Gattis went 2-for-4 with a double and his fifth home run of the season Wednesday, May 25, against the Baltimore Orioles. He finished with one run scored and two RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis has been raking since returning to the team just over a week ago. In fact, since his first game back on May 17, the former Atlanta Brave is 11-for-31 with four home runs and six RBI. He appears to be fully healthy, and given his current production, he can certainly be a force again for fantasy teams that deploy him.

Astros | Jason Castro not in lineup

Wed, 25 May 2016 15:51:09 -0700

Houston Astros C Jason Castro is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, May 25. C/OF Evan Gattis is doing the catching and is batting fifth against Baltimore Orioles SP Tyler Wilson. 1B Tyler White is serving as the designated hitter and is batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: In daily leagues tonight, Gattis is the no-brainer option over White. Gattis is 9-for-27 (.333) with three home runs and four RBI since being called back up from the minors. White has hit a paltry .196 (9-for-46) this month and continues to lose valuable playing to Marwin Gonzalez at first base.

Astros | Evan Gattis goes deep again

Sun, 22 May 2016 16:55:55 -0700

Houston Astros OF Evan Gattis hit his third home run in seven games since returning to the majors, finishing 2-for-4 with a solo shot in a 9-2 loss to the Texas Rangers Sunday, May 22.

Fantasy Tip: With catcher eligibility on the horizon and his power stroke coming around, Gattis could be worth picking up if he is available in your league, and he is a must-add in two-catcher formats.

Astros | Evan Gattis catching Tuesday

Thu, 19 May 2016 14:45:08 -0700

Houston Astros OF Evan Gattis is in the starting lineup Thursday, May 19, and serving as the catcher for the first time this season, as C Jason Castro (rest) is getting the night off. He's batting sixth opposite Chicago White Sox SP Chris Sale.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis has looked good at the plate since returning to the club earlier this week, so he'll draw a rare start at catcher to keep his bat in the lineup. While he has the difficult task of having to face Sale tonight, Gattis is 9-for-27 this year off lefties, making it possible he can keep it going.

Astros | Evan Gattis hitting cleanup in return

Tue, 17 May 2016 14:40:10 -0700

Houston Astros OF Evan Gattis is serving as the designated hitter and is batting cleanup against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon Tuesday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis will see plenty of playing time now that he's back in the bigs, seeing starts at DH, outfield and as the backup catcher. His elite power plays in all formats. Pick him up now if he was dropped by his previous owner and is available in your league. Get the jump on him in daily leagues, too, since others may not be wise to the fact that he's back in the majors.

Astros | Evan Gattis to join team Tuesday

Sun, 15 May 2016 17:42:15 -0700

Houston Astros OF Evan Gattis will join the team Tuesday, May 17, after spending time in the minors to work as a catcher.

Fantasy Tip: With Gattis expected to see some time behind the plate when he returns, he becomes a much more attractive fantasy option. His power potential and impending catcher eligibility should have him owned in most formats.

Astros | Evan Gattis takes a seat

Sat, 07 May 2016 13:39:58 -0700

Houston Astros OF Evan Gattis is out of the lineup Saturday, May 7, with OF Preston Tucker hitting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Tucker has a .213-3-4 line on the year, which doesn't present much upside against Nathan Karns today.

Astros | Evan Gattis sent to minors to catch

Fri, 06 May 2016 20:58:28 -0700

The Houston Astros optioned OF Evan Gattis to Class AA Corpus Christi Friday, May 6, to see more work at the catcher position. He has to spend 10 days with the Hooks, but he isn't likely to spend much more time than that. He said he is on board with the move and excited to catch again.

Fantasy Tip: The Astros need help behind Jason Castro, and fantasy owners will be glad to see Gattis become eligible behind the plate as well as in the outfield. Positional versatility like that is attractive from a fantasy perspective.

Astros | Evan Gattis back in cleanup spot

Thu, 05 May 2016 13:29:29 -0700

Houston Astros OF Evan Gattis is batting cleanup Thursday, May 5, opposite Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley.

Fantasy Tip: Gattis normally bats fifth when he's in the lineup, but with Colby Rasmus getting the night off, he gets bumped up into cleanup duty. While he's been a big disappointment thus far in 2016, Gattis has been fine when he stands in the box opposite a left-handed pitcher. In fact, he has more hits against lefties than he does righties, despite having registered nearly half as many at-bats versus southpaws. As a result, he could be a sneaky option for this evening.

Astros | Evan Gattis, Tyler White sitting

Wed, 04 May 2016 14:23:20 -0700

Houston Astros OF Evan Gattis (rest) and 1B Tyler White (rest) are not starting Wednesday, May 4, against Minnesota Twins SP Phil Hughes. SS Marwin Gonzalez and OF Preston Tucker are in their place, with Gonzalez playing first base and batting seventh, while Tucker is serving as the designated hitter and batting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: White will be on the bench for the second time in three nights, though it's hard to argue that decision considering he's a putrid 2-for-35 over his last 10 ballgames. Gattis is also slumping, having not recorded a hit in his last 11 at-bats. Daily owners can do better than Gonzalez and Tucker from Wednesday's full 15-game slate.
