Atlanta Braves C Evan Gattis (back) warmed up a pitcher between innings Tuesday, July 8. On Wednesday, July 9, he performed running and throwing activities while also running nearly a mile without any problems, according to Gattis. There's no timetable for his return, but manager Fredi Gonzalez said Gattis may be ready for a minoir league rehab assignment immediately following the All-Star break.
Fantasy Tip: Gattis is on track to return before the end of July, so prepare accordingly. Gonzalez already said Christian Bethancourt will return to the minors upon Gattis' activation.

Atlanta Braves C Evan Gattis (back) is going to remain the team's primary catcher when he returns, and C Christian Bethancourt will return to Triple-A Gwinnett, according to manager Fredi Gonzalez. Gonzalez said he does not know when Gattis will return from the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: Bethancourt has hit well in his limited at-bats, but he is not worth stashing in NL-only leagues when he is demoted. Gattis is likely two weeks away, at least.

Atlanta Braves C Evan Gattis (back) received an epidural injection for the bulging disc in his thoracic spine Tuesday, July 1, but there remains no timetable for his return, even though he said he's not feeling any pain in his back. Bulging discs can take anywhere from a few weeks from months to heal from. Gattis was told that 90 to 95 percent of patients with his degree of injury don't need surgery.
Fantasy Tip: The best-case scenario would be for Gattis to return shortly after the All-Star break. But if you own him, you'll have to prepare for a longer absence.
