Mon, 14 May 2012 06:01:13 -0700 The Seattle Seahawks came away very impressed with DL Bruce Irvin in his first minicamp. "He's just what we thought he was," head coach Pete Carroll said. "He's very, very fast. He's very instinctive. I think now that we've had him in the meeting rooms and watched him learn and pick stuff up and ask questions and ask good questions and then be able to apply the stuff on the field, he's going to be able to come in and help us immediately."
Mon, 07 May 2012 12:10:30 -0700 Updating a previous report, Seattle Seahawks DE Bruce Irvin signed a four-year deal worth $9.34 million, all of which is guaranteed. The deal includes a signing bonus over $5 million.
Mon, 07 May 2012 11:14:36 -0700 The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with first-round draft choice DE Bruce Irvin. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Wed, 02 May 2012 07:23:24 -0700 The Seattle Seahawks were in the hunt for a quick and explosive defender with their first-round pick in the NFL Draft. In addition to LB Bruce Irvin, who the team selected No. 15 overall, Carolina Panthers LB Luke Kuechly and Tampa Bay Buccaneers SS Mark Barron were also on the team's wish list, according to general manager John Schneider. "Obviously we felt strongly about Barron, we felt strongly about Kuechly as well, but we really wanted to address our pass rush. And it just fell to a spot where we said, maybe if we could move back a little bit, we could still acquire (Irvin)," Schneider said.
Wed, 02 May 2012 07:09:31 -0700 Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider said he had doubts he would be able to land LB Bruce Irvin with the No. 15 overall pick in the NFL Draft because teams did not talk much about Irvin. "The only problem is, he was so quiet - people weren't talking about him. And quite honestly that made me uncomfortable," Schneider said.
Wed, 02 May 2012 05:29:14 -0700 New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan said the team was not planning to use their first-round pick in the NFL Draft on West Virginia LB Bruce Irvin, who went to the Seattle Seahawks, and hinted that they wouldn't have used their second-round pick on him, either. "Not at 16, I can tell you that much," Ryan said, when asked if the Jets were planning to select Irvin. "He was a guy we certainly did a lot of stuff on. We liked Bruce Irvin as a player, but not ahead of the first two guys we took."
Mon, 30 Apr 2012 06:19:32 -0700 Although the Seattle Seahawks were criticized for selecting LB Bruce Irvin in the first round of the NFL Draft, the New York Jets, Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers either planned to select Irvin or had him on a short list of first-round candidates.
Mon, 30 Apr 2012 06:13:34 -0700 After the Seattle Seahawks selected LB Bruce Irvin with the No. 15 overall pick in the NFL Draft, the team received a phone call from the New York Jets, who also wanted Irvin. Less than five minutes after the Seahawks plucked Irvin, with a pick that surprised many experts, the telephone rang in the Seattle "war room." On the other end was a Jets' official, good-naturedly cursing a Seahawks' counterpart for having chosen the prospect New York planned to grab one pick later.
Fri, 27 Apr 2012 09:50:49 -0700 Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll went the unconventional route once again with the selection of DE Bruce Irvin in the first round. Irvin was considered a second-day pick and the Seahawks passed on the likes of Quinton Coples, Melvin Ingram and Chandler Jones, who were all available when they took Irvin, a situational pass rusher. Carroll said Irvin is the type of player who puts fear in offensive tackles. He is expected to solely be a pass rush option to begin with, but Carroll and general manager John Schneider believe he can eventually develop into an every-down end.
Thu, 26 Apr 2012 18:40:03 -0700 The Seattle Seahawks selected West Virginia LB Bruce Irvin with the 15th overall selection in the NFL Draft. Fantasy Tip: Irvin may be the best natural pass rusher in the entire draft class, but he comes with a host of off-the-field concerns and is undersized at 6-foot-3, 245 pounds. more »
