Payton said, "I'm going to keep Nesbit at left guard until someone beats him out. I visited with Montrae about it. We're not there yet (to Week 1), but it's getting closer. We've got to see who's starting on this front five. I told Nesbit when he came to camp that he'll have a chance to compete for a starting job. Saints head coach Jim Haslett said Monday, Oct. 10 that he will be listed as "questionable, at best." If Brown can't go, veteran backup OT Jamar Nesbit would likely replace him in the starting lineup. Nesbit is primarily a guard and center, but he is experienced and worked at the position in training camp.

The Florida Times-Union reports Jacksonville Jaguars third-round draft pick OL Vincent Manuwai worked all of Sunday's, July 27, practice as the starting left guard, ahead of veteran Jamar Nesbit. Manuwai has a chance at winning the starting job as coaches are impressed with his strength and quickness. "It gives you a lot of confidence running with the (starters) after just getting drafted," Manuwai said. "It's a lot of pressure, too, because I was the only position they switched on the entire offensive line. It's exciting." However, head coach Jack Del Rio said, "The time to worry about who's in the starting lineup is (Sept. 7), when we open against Carolina. Until then, it's a work in progress."
