Chargers | Travis Benjamin has quiet debut

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 05:37:31 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin caught one pass for 11 yards in the preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals Friday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin missed some time during training camp because of an injury but should be more involved in the offense moving forward. He likely will be one of the starting receivers this season and can be a No. 4 wide receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin building trust with Rivers

Tue, 16 Aug 2016 23:32:02 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin was singled out by QB Philip Rivers for his work during a joint practice against the Arizona Cardinals on Tuesday, Aug. 16, specifically for their timing on a comeback route that Rivers deemed his "favorite play" of the evening.

Fantasy Tip: Consider what Benjamin did in Cleveland with no viable QB, and what Rivers did in San Diego with a patchwork line and receiving corps. If the two can get on the same page early they could do some damage over a 16-game slate. Benjamin is best suited as a No. 4 fantasy wideout, but there's sneaky upside there.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin practicing

Mon, 15 Aug 2016 16:24:07 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (undisclosed) is participating in practice Monday, Aug. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin missed a little over a week because of the injury and probably will be eased back into practice. He likely will be a starter this season and should receive a solid amount of targets in the passing game. Benjamin probably can be a decent No. 4 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin to be returner

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 16:30:47 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin will be the team's punt returner in 2016. Benjamin may not be used as a returner as often if he receives significant snaps at wide receiver.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin should have a solid role in the passing game this season and likely will be on the field most of the time. He should be a middle- to late-round pick in most drafts this season. Owners in leagues that count return stats should have interest in Benjamin.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin absent Wednesday

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 16:08:29 -0700

San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (undisclosed) did not participate in any drills at minicamp Wednesday, June 15.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin's absence is probably nothing to be overly concerned about. He'll enter the 2016 season as the Chargers' No. 2 wide receiver and should be a WR4 option in standard fantasy drafts.

Chargers | Travis Benjamin contract details

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 12:56:25 -0800

Updating a previous report, the San Diego Chargers agreed with WR Travis Benjamin on a four-year, $24 million deal Wednesday, March 9. The deal includes $13 million guaranteed and $18 million in the first three years.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin provides the Bolts with a valuable deep threat now that Malcom Floyd is retired. He'll help Philip Rivers stretch the field and could be a really nice WR3 for fantasy owners, but he has more value in traditional fantasy leagues because of his boom-or-bust personality as a deep threat.

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 06:37:33 -0800

Free-agent WR Travis Benjamin (Browns) has agreed to a deal with the San Diego Chargers Wednesday, March 9. Benjamin's deal is expected to eclipse $6 million per year.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin has teased us with a few big games, and the speedster will have a ton of protection with Keenan Allen and Antonio Gates running patterns with him. He'll be in the WR3 mix with room for more.

Falcons | Atlanta eyeing Travis Benjamin

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 15:08:45 -0800

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent WR Travis Benjamin has drawn interest from the Atlanta Falcons, according to a source. Benjamin played for current Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan in Cleveland in 2014.

Fantasy Tip: This year's free-agent market for wide receivers is a relatively weak one, making Benjamin one of the better free-agent receivers this year. The Falcons may have to pay up if they really want Benjamin. He would be the No. 2 wide receiver in Atlanta if signed, but he shouldn't be considered more than a low-end WR2 in the fantasy realm.

Thu, 25 Feb 2016 06:53:33 -0800

Cleveland Browns impending free-agent WR Travis Benjamin continues to talk with the Browns about a new deal, according to executive vice president Sashi Brown.

Fantasy Tip: Benjamin showed some flashes, but the entire team struggled to find consistency. He could be a solid WR4 flyer in 2016.

Browns | Keeping free agents difficult

Wed, 24 Feb 2016 13:21:32 -0800

Cleveland Browns impending free-agents FS Tashaun Gipson, OT Mitchell Schwartz and C Alex Mack will be difficult to retain, according to head coach Hue Jackson. "I would love to keep them all. But again, they have to want to stay. It goes both ways," Jackson said. Impending free-agent WR Travis Benjamin's talks with the Browns and he will enter the free-agent market, as reported earlier.
