Titans | Rishard Matthews continues to disappoint

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 20:24:45 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews posted three grabs for 32 yards in the Week 3 game against the Oakland Raiders. He was targeted eight times.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews came over from Miami as a high-priced free agent, but he has yet to make a splash from a fantasy perspective. Right now he can only be trusted as a WR4 in deeper leagues.

Titans | Tajae Sharpe in on every snap

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 06:55:41 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Tajae Sharpe played all 67 offensive snaps in Week 2, and WR Rishard Matthews was in on 54 percent of the plays with 36.

Fantasy Tip: Sharpe is clearly their No. 1 receiver. He has 11 catches for 109 yards in two games, but his usage rate gives him upside moving forward. He's a great WR3 right now.

Titans | Rishard Matthews working on timing

Fri, 16 Sep 2016 20:18:57 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews said he and QB Marcus Mariota missed a couple of opportunities in Week 1, but offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie said he expects their timing to improve.

Fantasy Tip: Tajae Sharpe looks to be Mariota's early favorite in the passing game, but Matthews is worth stashing for at least a few weeks to see how his role develops.

Titans | Several Tennessee WRs could be in slot

Wed, 07 Sep 2016 21:37:02 -0700

While Tennessee Titans WR Harry Douglas is expected to be the primary slot receiver in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings, head coach Mike Mularkey said Thursday, Sept. 7, that WRs Andre Johnson, Rishard Matthews and Marc Mariani might also see time in the spot in various packages.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is the best bet for fantasy success in Week 1, while Johnson is only worth a look as a WR4 in deeper formats. Mariani isn't much in the receiving game, but he is a decent low-end fantasy play in formats which also include individual return yardage.

Titans | Rishard Matthews developing chemistry

Tue, 10 May 2016 14:18:25 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews is developing a chemistry with QB Marcus Mariota in offseason workouts.

"This is where you develop the chemistry," Matthews said. "If you don't have chemistry with your quarterback, it is kind of hard to connect on Sundays and game days. But we have been staying after throwing with the limited time that we get and I think it is going good so far."

Fantasy Tip: Matthews was having a breakout season before a rib injury derailed him last year in Miami. He'll be a good WR3 with some upside in fantasy.

Titans | Rishard Matthews ready to work

Sun, 13 Mar 2016 16:58:25 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews said he and QB Marcus Mariota have already been talking about when to meet up and start running routes.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Matthews wants to establish some chemistry with Mariota as soon as possible. He showed some big-play ability with Miami last year, and if he emerges as Mariota's favorite target, Matthews could be a quality WR2 in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews was off to a breakout pace before he got hurt midseason. He'll likely be a high-end WR3 in fantasy.

Titans | Rishard Matthews headed to Nashville

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 19:33:11 -0800

Free-agent WR Rishard Matthews (Dolphins) agreed to terms with the Tennessee Titans on a three-year deal Wednesday, March 9.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews will have an up and coming quarterback with Marcus Mariota, and a power run game with newly acquired DeMarco Murray. He could emerge as a Top 25 fantasy receiver if he rises to No. 1 status on the depth chart.

Patriots | Two receivers have Pats' interest

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 06:04:46 -0800

Free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu (Bengals) and WR Rishard Matthews (Dolphins) have received interest from the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: The Pats rarely pay for wide receivers, and both figure to land lucrative deals in a weak WR market. They are both midrange wide receivers that could have upside in the right system.

Titans | Tennessee interested in Rishard Matthews

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 18:08:47 -0800

Miami Dolphins impending free-agent WR Rishard Matthews could be of interest to the Tennessee Titans, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is one of the better options at receiver in a weak free-agent class and makes sense with the Titans, who don't have much at the position beyond Kendall Wright and rookie Dorial Beckham-Green. With Wright a bit injury-prone and Beckham-Green still learning the position, Matthews could be a worthwhile late-round selection in fantasy drafts this summer if he lands in Tennessee.

Dolphins | Miami may not re-sign Rishard Matthews

Fri, 04 Mar 2016 17:41:59 -0800

Miami Dolphins impending free-agent WR Rishard Matthews is a player the Dolphins like, but they believe he could receive more money in free agency than they are comfortable spending on him.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is coming off a solid season and could find a top-three role with a team in free agency. Matthews' fantasy value will be determined by which team he signs with this offseason.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews likely still gone

Tue, 23 Feb 2016 12:59:52 -0800

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins impending free-agent WR Rishard Matthews is still expected to hit the free-agent market despite recently being contacted by the Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is coming off the best season of his career despite playing in just 11 games. He will be one of the hottest commodities at wide receiver in this year's free agency and could become a No. 2 wide receiver depending on where he lands.

Dolphins | Miami reaches out to Rishard Matthews

Fri, 19 Feb 2016 06:59:56 -0800

Miami Dolphins impending free-agent WR Rishard Matthews has been contacted by the Dolphins about a new deal.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews had a hot start to last season and finished with a 43-662-4 line in 11 games. He'll be a WR4 with upside for more.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews likely gone

Tue, 02 Feb 2016 13:36:40 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews isn't expected to return to Miami, according to Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews will be one of the top free-agent wide receivers this offseason, and the Dolphins may not be too worried about losing him with their up-and-coming second-year receiver, DeVante Parker. Parker would be the main beneficiary of Matthews' absence, assuming Matthews leaves, while Kenny Stills and Jordan Cameron would also see more targets. Although, Jarvis Landry would still be the unquestioned No. 1 target in Miami's offense.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews going to IR

Sat, 02 Jan 2016 11:33:55 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) is heading to the Reserve/Injured list Saturday, Jan. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Jarvis Landry ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) and DeVante Parker ($3,400, 6.8%) have been the Dolphins' top-two receiving options with Matthews sidelined. Landry remains a WR1 play on FantasyScore this week against a mediocre New England Patriots pass defense. Parker has gained at least 87 yards in each of his last two games, so he's definitely worth a look, too, as the Dolphins may be forced to throw the ball early and often.

Dolphins | Kenny Stills, Rishard Matthews questionable

Fri, 01 Jan 2016 13:48:44 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Kenny Stills (thigh) and WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) were limited during practice Friday, Jan. 1, and are listed as questionable for the Week 17 game against the New England Patriots.

Fantasy Tip: With Jarvis Landry ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) cemented atop the target pecking order, and DeVante Parker ($3,400, 6.8%) becoming a bigger focal point in the offense, Stills ($2,000, 4.0%) and Matthews ($2,800, 5.6%) aren't strong fantasy options for Week 17, if they're even active for the game.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews, Kenny Stills limited

Thu, 31 Dec 2015 16:32:19 -0800

Miami Dolphins WRs Rishard Matthews (ribs) and Kenny Stills (thigh) were limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) and Stills ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has a chance to play, so owners should monitor their progress over the next few days. Neither players has posted big numbers over the last two weeks and are not strong options in most fantasy leagues.

Dolphins | Three Miami receivers limited

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 13:03:44 -0800

Miami Dolphins WRs Rishard Matthews (ribs), Jarvis Landry (knee) and Kenny Stills (thigh) were limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Landry ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) and Stills ($2,000, 4.0%) probably have a better chance of playing than Matthews ($2,800, 5.6%), who hasn't played in over a month. The New England Patriots are never an easy matchup, but they've been mediocre against wide receivers this year. The only one of the three worth playing on FantasyScore, though, is Landry.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews out Sunday

Sun, 27 Dec 2015 09:30:39 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) is inactive for Week 16's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) was a full participant during the first two days of practice during the week and a limited participant on the third day, making this deactivation a surprise. He had been listed as questionable but will miss his fourth consecutive game. DeVante Parker ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) should see additional targets this week and is worth considering as a WR3 or flex option in FantasyScore.

Fri, 25 Dec 2015 11:28:58 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) was limited Friday, Dec. 25, and is questionable for Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) could return this week against the Indianapolis Colts. If DeVante Parker doesn't start over him, Matthews is a low-end option on FantasyScore.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews fully practices

Thu, 24 Dec 2015 15:07:34 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Dec. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) hasn't played in about a month, so there's a chance he could be rusty this weekend. He still shouldn't be completely overlooked on FantasyScore, as he is still cheap and does have a nice matchup versus the Indianapolis Colts.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews a full participant

Wed, 23 Dec 2015 12:28:02 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) hasn't played in about a month, so he might be shaking some rust off this weekend. He still shouldn't be completely overlooked on FantasyScore, though, as he does have a nice matchup versus the Indianapolis Colts and is cheap.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews to miss game

Sun, 20 Dec 2015 12:42:10 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) has been declared inactive for the Week 15 game against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: DeVante Parker ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) probably will see additional playing time with Matthews sidelined. He has been more involved in the passing game over the last few weeks and could be a cheaper option on FantasyScore.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews questionable

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 13:41:14 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) was limited in practice all week and is questionable for Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) will try to work his way back into action this weekend, but it sounds as though he'll be limited if he is active. That should tell you to avoid him on FantasyScore against a Chargers team that hasn't been bad at limiting receivers this year.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews pushing to return

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 16:16:07 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) has been cleared to practice for the first time in two weeks, and he's pushing to return to action in Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers. Matthews missed the last two games because he couldn't run without pain, but his breathing issues have subsided.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) could very well have his snaps limited against the Bolts if he returns, making him too risky to choose on FantasyScore. For as bad as San Diego has been this year, they've actually been pretty decent at limiting damage from receivers, too.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews limited

Thu, 17 Dec 2015 15:45:56 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 17.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) should be able to play against the San Diego Chargers this week, but owners should still keep an eye on his status. He has held to only one catch in his last two games but has posted solid numbers this season. He will have a tough matchup this week but could still be a cheaper option on FantasyScore.

Dolphins | Three Dolphins limited Wednesday

Wed, 16 Dec 2015 14:16:45 -0800

Miami Dolphins WRs Jarvis Landry (knee) and Rishard Matthews (ribs) and RB Lamar Miller (ankle) were all limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Miller ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) and Landry ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) should be fine for the game against the San Diego Chargers. The Bolts are one of the worst rush defenses in the NFL, so Miller is a must-start. Landry and Matthews ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) face a tougher matchup with the SD secondary. Matthews is still fighting his way back, so he's a very shakey daily option.

Sat, 12 Dec 2015 14:07:03 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) was out of practice Saturday, Dec. 12, and he's out for Week 14.

Fantasy Tip: DeVante Parker ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is a low-end option on FantasyScore against the New York Giants Monday night.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews not practicing

Fri, 11 Dec 2015 14:02:32 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) missed practice for the second straight day Friday, Dec. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is expected to miss one more game, and he's hoping to return in Week 15 against the San Diego Chargers. Avoid him again this week. With Jarvis Landry and Kenny Stills also nursing injuries, DeVante Parker ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) should get plenty of love on FantasyScore again as a sleeper pick against a weak New York Giants secondary.

Thu, 10 Dec 2015 12:38:29 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) missed practice Thursday, Dec. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) is expected to miss another game this week. Avoid him on FantasyScore. DeVante Parker ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) and Kenny Stills ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) are acceptable sleeper picks on FantasyScore with the New York Giants giving up plenty through the air this year.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews officially out

Fri, 04 Dec 2015 13:50:14 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) did not practice all week and has been ruled out for Week 13 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: With Matthews out, Jarvis Landry ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) will be a staple in a lot of daily lineups this week, and he's primed for a second straight big performance. DeVante Parker ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) will see his role increase, too, and is a solid sleeper pick. Kenny Stills ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is worth a look as a deep sleeper, too, if he plays.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews out again

Thu, 03 Dec 2015 09:48:05 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) missed practice for the second straight day Thursday, Dec. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Don't count on Matthews playing this week. Instead, Jarvis Landry ($7,600, 15.2% of cap) should yet again be an excellent daily option against the weak Baltimore Ravens secondary. DeVante Parker ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is an extremely attractive deep sleeper, as well, as he gets more comfortable in this offense.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews absent

Wed, 02 Dec 2015 16:22:09 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) was not at practice Wednesday, Dec. 2.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is dealing with cracked ribs and isn't expected to play this week. Jarvis Landry ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) should be a strong play against a suspect Baltimore Ravens secondary, especially after his big game in Week 12. DeVante Parker ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) will see a bigger role and immediately becomes a sleeper worth targeting.

Wed, 02 Dec 2015 09:49:27 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker said he expects to start at the "X receiver" spot in place of WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Parker ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is a shot in the dark on FantasyScore against the Baltimore Ravens as he hasn't done much thus far.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews has fractured ribs

Mon, 30 Nov 2015 13:47:14 -0800

Updating a previous report, Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs) suffered multiple fractured ribs in Week 12 against the New York Jets, according to sources. There is no timetable for his return at this time.

Fantasy Tip: Expect Matthews to miss at least several weeks. Jarvis Landry will be a hot commodity in daily games with Matthews out, especially after a big Week 12 performance. DeVante Parker should be added for receiver depth in traditional leagues, and he has flex worth at a cheaper cost on FantasyScore, especially against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 13.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews could miss game

Mon, 30 Nov 2015 09:35:10 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (ribs, chest) might not be able to play in Week 13, according to head coach Dan Campbell.

Fantasy Tip: If Matthews sits out this weekend, Jarvis Landry will likely be a popular daily selection, especially after his big day in Week 12 against the New York Jets. Kenny Stills would also see his value rise, and he could be in consideration as a deep sleeper pick.

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 12:06:58 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (chest, ribs) has been downgraded to out against the New York Jets in Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: With Matthews out, as stated earlier, Kenny Stills and and DeVante Parker should see more targets than usual. If Matthews misses next week or more time, Stills or Parker could provide for a nice sleeper play on FantasyScore.

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 11:13:43 -0800

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (chest, ribs) left in the first quarter in Week 12 against the New York Jets. He is questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: As long as Matthews is sidelined, Kenny Stills and DeVante Parker should see more targets. As with any game-day injury, this one should be monitored after the game. If Matthews misses extended time, Stills in particular would be worth a pickup in seasonal leagues.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry, Rishard Matthews active

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 08:56:37 -0800

Miami Dolphins WRs Jarvis Landry (knee) and Rishard Matthews (illness) are both officially active for Week 12's game against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: This may be a somewhat favorable matchup for both receivers, since Darrelle Revis (concussion) is not active for the Jets this week. Landry ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) should be viewed as a low-end WR1, while Matthews ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) merits consideration as a flex player in FantasyScore.

Dolphins | Jarvis Landry, Rishard Matthews to play

Sun, 29 Nov 2015 07:00:54 -0800

Miami Dolphins WRs Jarvis Landry (knee) and Rishard Matthews (illness) are both expected to play in Week 12's game against the New York Jets, according to multiple sources. They had both been listed as questionable on the team's injury report.

Fantasy Tip: Landry ($7,300, 14.6% of cap) is considered a low-end WR1 in FantasyScore this week, since he will be facing a Jets team that will be without Darrelle Revis. However, he may see fewer snaps than normal since he missed two practices. Matthews ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) caught only one pass for 15 yards in Week 11's game versus the Cowboys but had at least three receptions in each of his previous five contests.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews heads passing attack

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews had five catches for a team-high 93 yards in a 20-19 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) logged his most receiving yards since Week 3, and while he has topped 50 yards in five straight games, he has found the end zone just once in his last six contests.

Panthers | Ted Ginn leads league in drops

Wed, 11 Nov 2015 11:28:51 -0800

Carolina Panthers WR Ted Ginn Jr. leads all receivers with a 25% drop rate this year. Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans is second with a 17.9% drop rate, followed by Houston Texans WR Nate Washington (16.1%), Oakland Raiders WR Amari Cooper (13.5%), New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (12.3%) and Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews (9.8%).

Fantasy Tip: Ginn leads a list that includes some pretty heavy hitters in the wide receiver ranks. Ginn's knack for the big play is typically what carries his fantasy value, so he's hard to rely on in point-per-reception leagues like FantasyScore on a consistent basis.

Dolphins | DeVante Parker not playing much

Thu, 22 Oct 2015 18:32:14 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker is competing with WR Rishard Matthews for playing time, interim head coach Dan Campbell said. Against the Tennessee Titans in Week 6, Parker was on the field for six snaps and Matthews was on the field for 60.

Fantasy Tip: Parker's ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) role in the offense remained minimal despite the coaching change, and until he is making an impact on the field, there is no reason to roll the dice on him at FantasyScore.

Dolphins | Rishard Matthews leads Miami WRs

Mon, 19 Oct 2015 12:18:20 -0700

Miami Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews led the Dolphins with six catches and 85 yards in a Week 6 victory over the Tennessee Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Miami's passing game wasn't really needed yesterday. The Dolphins took a more concerted effort in the run game, and Ryan Tannehill's two interceptions didn't help much. Miami faces a subpart pass defense next week, so Matthews and Jarvis Landry should still be started.

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 18:11:08 -0700

Miami Dolphins WRs Greg Jennings and Rishard Matthews did little in Week 4 against the New York Jets in London. Jennings had three receptions for just 15 yards on seven targets, while Matthews hauled in just one ball for 16 yards on three targets.

Fantasy Tip: Jennings ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) and Matthews ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) are well behind Jarvis Landry ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) and Jordan Cameron ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) for targets, so they can be mostly ignored in FantasyScore unless injuries claim one of the top receivers in Miami.
