Titans | Rishard Matthews limited to 19 yards

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 20:16:31 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews was limited to three grabs for 19 yards on five targets in Week 14 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews should be the No. 1 receiver in this offense, but he is still more of a WR3 or WR4 in most fantasy when he is running hot. Right now, he is more of a WR4 or WR5 as the Titans offense limps along.

Titans | Rishard Mathews good to go

Fri, 08 Dec 2017 10:46:32 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews (hamstring) is expected to play in Week 14 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews had been trending in the right direction all week long, so this was an expected development. He seems to be the most likely candidate to drawl Patrick Peterson's shadow coverage, but Peterson may not be able to play. If Peterson goes, owners should try to find another option besides Matthews. If Peterson sits, Matthews has WR2 upside.

Wed, 06 Dec 2017 15:34:58 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews appears to have a chance to play in Week 14, but owners will need to check on his status later in the week. He will be a risky option if he is active since hamstring injuries can linger, but he is a solid option when he is healthy.

Titans | Rishard Matthews should return

Mon, 04 Dec 2017 12:15:55 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews (hamstring) is considered day-to-day but is expected to be back on the field in Week 14, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

Fantasy Tip: The Titans desperately need their No. wide receiver back after multiple weeks of a lackluster passing game. It remains to be seen if Matthews will be at full strength or limited at all if/when he returns, but view him as a low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 for now.

Titans | Rishard Matthews to be game-time decision

Fri, 01 Dec 2017 10:30:10 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews (hamstring) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 1, and is expected to be a game-time decision after being listed as questionable on the Week 13 injury report against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: It's a step up from the light jogging he did Thursday and his first practice of any kind since suffering the injury during the middle of last week, so he would seem to be more doubtful than questionable at the moment. If Matthews is anywhere close to 100 percent by Sunday, he should be a high-upside WR3 play in a plus-matchup. If not, it could finally be time for Corey Davis to enjoy his breakout game.

Thu, 30 Nov 2017 11:50:34 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews (hamstring) did not practice for a second straight day Thursday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews will really need to improve over the next couple of days in order to take the field this week. Delanie Walker is an automatic start, but don't give up on Corey Davis after a disappointing outing in Week 12. He's got a big plus matchup against the Houston Texans and will be the Titans' No. 1 receiver if Matthews is out.

Titans | Rishard Matthews day-to-day

Mon, 27 Nov 2017 11:23:46 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews (hamstring) is considered day-to-day with the hamstring injury that kept him out of the team's Week 12 win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Tip: Playing in an offense that has severely underachieved considering its talent level, Matthews has been the one good constant for fantasy owners. However, given the fact he suffered his injury late last week, he is going to be up against it trying to beat the clock in order to get cleared in time to play versus the Houston Texans in Week 13. If he plays, he can be considered a strong WR3.

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews (hamstring) will be a game-time decision for the team's Week 12 game, according to head coach Mike Mularkey.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check the inactive list to see if Matthews will be able to play in Week 12. He is coming off a 113-yard performance in his last game and has been productive in most of the games this season. He will be a risky option if he plays but can be a No. 3 receiver for owners.

Thu, 23 Nov 2017 15:31:04 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews (hamstring) was limited during practice Thursday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should check on Matthews' status Friday, Nov. 24, to see if he is in any danger of sitting out Week 12. He recorded 113 yards and one touchdown last week and should remain one of the main targets in the passing game. He can be considered a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver in most leagues.

Thu, 16 Nov 2017 22:43:15 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews caught five passes for 113 yards and a touchdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 11.

Fantasy Tip: Buoyed by a 75-yard touchdown grab to start the second half, Matthews topped 100 yards for the first time this season. He has quietly been Tennessee's most effective wideout thus far and deserves consideration as a WR3.

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 13:58:50 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews finished with three grabs for 40 yards on six targets in Week 7 against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews had his second-lowest yardage production of the season and he hasn't found the end zone in four games dating back to Week 3 against Seattle. Treat him as a WR4 or flex option in Week 9 once the team returns from a bye.

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews finished with six catches on 10 targets for 87 yards and a touchdown in a 33-27 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews led the Titans in catches, yards and targets and continues to be one of Marcus Mariota's favorite options. He deserves consideration as a WR3 against the Houston Texans in Week 4, especially if Corey Davis remains sidelined.

Titans | Eric Decker, Rishard Matthews to start

Wed, 20 Sep 2017 15:42:54 -0700

Tennessee Titans WRs Eric Decker and Rishard Matthews are set to start in Week 3 against the Seattle Seahawks with rookie WR Corey Davis (hamstring) sidelined.

Fantasy Tip: Decker has just six grabs for 42 yards through two games and he faces a tough Seattle secondary, so his fantasy value remains rather limited. Matthews has six grabs for 114 yards to date, and he is the Tennessee wideout to target in deeper fantasy leagues in Week 3.

Titans | Rishard Matthews ready for big year

Thu, 07 Sep 2017 20:21:05 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews said the offseason additions to the receiving corps will benefit him by forcing defenses to focus on multiple players.

Fantasy Tip: The Titans added Corey Davis in the draft and Eric Decker in free agency, but Matthews has a year of experience playing with Marcus Mariota. His role could gradually decrease depending on how fast Davis develops, but Matthews is a low-end WR3 candidate against Oakland in Week 1.

Sun, 27 Aug 2017 14:27:56 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews caught three passes for 54 yards in the preseason game against the Chicago Bears Sunday, Aug. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is coming off a strong 2016 season and will be a starting receiver for the Titans again this season. He probably will lose some targets to Corey Davis and Eric Decker but should still be considered a No. 3 receiver in most fantasy leagues.

Tennessee Titans WR Taywan Taylor saw first-team reps opposite WR Rishard Matthews and in the slot during practice Thursday, Aug. 3, after WR Corey Davis (hamstring) left with an injury.

Fantasy Tip: Taylor is probably ticketed for slot duty and is an interesting stash candidate in keeper formats. He is a late-round flier in redraft leagues.

Titans | Rishard Matthews likely will start

Sat, 15 Jul 2017 11:11:47 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews should be one of the starting wide receivers this season, in the opinion of TitansOnline.com's Jim Wyatt.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is coming off a solid 2016 season when he posted 945 yards and nine touchdowns. The team has added to their receiver corps this offseason, but Matthews probably will receive a similar amount of targets in 2017. Owners in most leagues should consider Matthews as a No. 3 receiver.

Titans | Career year for Rishard Matthews

Mon, 20 Feb 2017 13:15:55 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews posted career highs in catches (65), receiving yards (945) and touchdowns (9) last season. The 65 catches were tied for the team lead, while his nine touchdowns were the most on the Titans.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews eventually cemented himself as the No. 1 receiver in Tennessee. He should maintain that status in 2017, especially with Kendall Wright heading for free agency. Don't expect as good of a season from Matthews, but he should still be drafted in the low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 territory.

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews posted nine receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown in the Week 17 game against the Houston Texans. He was targeted 13 times.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews started out rather slow, but he managed career highs with 65 catches, 945 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in his first campaign in Nashville. He proved he can be a capable No. 1 receiver and will be a solid WR3 in 2017 unless the team dramatically improves its receiving corps in the offseason.

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 14:41:09 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews posted three receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown on a team-high nine targets in Week 16 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews took a step back after hitting the century mark in yardage last week, but he made up for the lack of yards with the score. He has found the end zone eight times in the past 11 games to emerge as a useful WR3 in most fantasy formats down the stretch.

He remains a solid WR3 in most fantasy leagues heading into Week 16 against Jacksonville. He scored against the Jaguars in Week 8, finishing with four grabs for 38 yards.

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 19:11:58 -0800

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews posted just one reception for 26 yards on three targets in the Week 14 game against the Denver Broncos.

Fantasy Tip: The Tennessee pass attack was ugly in this one, as Marcus Mariota went for just 88 passing yards. All Tennessee receiving options struggled from a fantasy perspective against the league's No. 1 pass defense.

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews finished with three receptions for a team-high 64 yards and a touchdown in the Week 12 game against the Chicago Bears. He was targeted seven times, also a team high.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews has 63 or more receiving yards in each of his past four games, and he has a total of seven touchdowns over the past eight games to emerge as a decent low-end WR2 in most fantasy leagues. You'll need to make other plans in Week 13, as Tennessee is on a bye.

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews managed three grabs for 63 yards and a touchdown on five targets in the Week 10 win against the Green Bay Packers.

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews posted six receptions for 63 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Week 9 game against the San Diego Chargers. Matthews was targeted 10 times.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews got off to a tough start this season, but he has visited the end zone at least once four times in the past five games (five total touchdowns). He has re-emerged as a decent WR3 in all fantasy leagues heading into Week 10 against the Green Bay Packers and their leaky pass defense.

Titans | Rishard Matthews might work in X

Wed, 05 Oct 2016 22:48:22 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews might be used as the X position to spell rookie WR Tajae Sharpe in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins. Matthews was replaced as the Z receiver by veteran WR Andre Johnson in the Week 4 game against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews has been a big disappointment in Nashville so far, and he is only worth retaining as a WR4 in fantasy leagues with deeper rosters.

Titans | Rishard Matthews leads the way

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 17:39:46 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews hauled in two receptions for a game-high 82 yards in the Week 4 game against the Houston Texans.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews was a big-money free agent in the offseason, but he has not really lived up to his paycheck until Week 4. He entered with 10 grabs for 98 yards on 18 targets in the first three games. He has the potential to be an impact fantasy option, but for now he is only worth a spot as a WR4 in the deepest of fantasy leagues until he shows more consistency. He'll face his former team, the Miami Dolphins, in South Florida in Week 5 so perhaps he'll play with a little more purpose.

Titans | Rishard Matthews continues to disappoint

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 20:24:45 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews posted three grabs for 32 yards in the Week 3 game against the Oakland Raiders. He was targeted eight times.

Titans | Tajae Sharpe in on every snap

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 06:55:41 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Tajae Sharpe played all 67 offensive snaps in Week 2, and WR Rishard Matthews was in on 54 percent of the plays with 36.

Fantasy Tip: Sharpe is clearly their No. 1 receiver. He has 11 catches for 109 yards in two games, but his usage rate gives him upside moving forward. He's a great WR3 right now.

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews said he and QB Marcus Mariota missed a couple of opportunities in Week 1, but offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie said he expects their timing to improve.

Titans | Several Tennessee WRs could be in slot

Wed, 07 Sep 2016 21:37:02 -0700

While Tennessee Titans WR Harry Douglas is expected to be the primary slot receiver in Week 1 against the Minnesota Vikings, head coach Mike Mularkey said Thursday, Sept. 7, that WRs Andre Johnson, Rishard Matthews and Marc Mariani might also see time in the spot in various packages.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is the best bet for fantasy success in Week 1, while Johnson is only worth a look as a WR4 in deeper formats. Mariani isn't much in the receiving game, but he is a decent low-end fantasy play in formats which also include individual return yardage.

Titans | Rishard Matthews developing chemistry

Tue, 10 May 2016 14:18:25 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews is developing a chemistry with QB Marcus Mariota in offseason workouts.

"This is where you develop the chemistry," Matthews said. "If you don't have chemistry with your quarterback, it is kind of hard to connect on Sundays and game days. But we have been staying after throwing with the limited time that we get and I think it is going good so far."

Fantasy Tip: Matthews was having a breakout season before a rib injury derailed him last year in Miami. He'll be a good WR3 with some upside in fantasy.

Sun, 13 Mar 2016 16:58:25 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Rishard Matthews said he and QB Marcus Mariota have already been talking about when to meet up and start running routes.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Matthews wants to establish some chemistry with Mariota as soon as possible. He showed some big-play ability with Miami last year, and if he emerges as Mariota's favorite target, Matthews could be a quality WR2 in 2016.

Free-agent WR Mohamed Sanu (Bengals) and WR Rishard Matthews (Dolphins) have received interest from the New England Patriots.

Titans | Tennessee interested in Rishard Matthews

Tue, 08 Mar 2016 18:08:47 -0800

Miami Dolphins impending free-agent WR Rishard Matthews could be of interest to the Tennessee Titans, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is one of the better options at receiver in a weak free-agent class and makes sense with the Titans, who don't have much at the position beyond Kendall Wright and rookie Dorial Beckham-Green. With Wright a bit injury-prone and Beckham-Green still learning the position, Matthews could be a worthwhile late-round selection in fantasy drafts this summer if he lands in Tennessee.

Miami Dolphins impending free-agent WR Rishard Matthews is a player the Dolphins like, but they believe he could receive more money in free agency than they are comfortable spending on him.

Fantasy Tip: Matthews is coming off a solid season and could find a top-three role with a team in free agency. Matthews' fantasy value will be determined by which team he signs with this offseason.
