Lions | Ryan Broyles focusing on rehab

Thu, 31 Jul 2014 23:03:57 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Ryan Broyles (Achilles') is trying to take things one day at a time after two days of training camp following a torn Achilles' tendon in 2013, saying he feels "pretty good right now." Broyles missed time in 2011 and 2012 with torn anterior cruciate ligaments in both knees, and he understands how to prepare for a season while rehabbing a major injury. Broyles has a new speed coach and is working on becoming more explosive, while not putting too much stress on his knees.

Fantasy Tip: Broyles is best left for your league's waiver wire.

Lions | Kevin Ogletree working as No. 3 WR

Tue, 29 Jul 2014 21:44:23 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Kevin Ogletree has been spent time on the top unit each of the first two days of training camp, working as the No. 3 receiver. He is battling WRs Ryan Broyles, Kris Durham, Corey Fuller and Jeremy Ross, among others, for the No. 3 job behind starting WRs Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. Offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi singled out Ogletree during the spring as a player that impressed him.

Fantasy Tip: If Ogletree was able to work into a No. 3 role, he would still be more of a WR4 or flex play in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams. However, all it would take is one injury to Johnson or Tate for him to see more targets and relevance.

Lions | Ryan Broyles looks in shape

Mon, 07 Jul 2014 14:35:48 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Ryan Broyles (Achilles') is always in the workout room and looks to be in great shape, according to teammates. Broyles has made good strides this offseason but has admitted in the past that he's still working on his speed.

Fantasy Tip: It's too early to gauge Broyles' health, and therefore too risky to draft him in any league format. If he has a good training camp and preseason, he may be worth a deep stash.

Lions | Believe in Ryan Broyles

Wed, 25 Jun 2014 06:22:25 -0700

Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said he believes in WR Ryan Broyles. "I believe in Ryan, and he's one of the hardest-working guys I've ever seen in terms of rehab, practice. He's just outstanding," Mayhew said. "I'm not going to build a whole offense around him, obviously, but I believe in that man."

Fantasy Tip: That leads us to believe he has his foot in the door for a roster spot.

Lions | Ryan Broyles farther along

Wed, 11 Jun 2014 05:41:57 -0700

Detroit Lions WR Ryan Broyles (Achilles') said he's farther along in his rehab from Achilles' surgery than he was for his anterior cruciate ligament tears the two previous years. He has been cleared to do everything, but he's continuing to work on his speed and conditioning.
