Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton not only believes he's a No. 1 wide receiver, but adds teammates Reggie Wayne and Hakeem Nicks into that category as well.

Colts | Available cap space likely eaten up

Sun, 16 Feb 2014 00:08:29 -0800

While the Indianapolis Colts will have more than $30 million to spend, a bunch of big name free agents this offseason are not likely. New contracts for WR T.Y. Hilton and QB Andrew Luck are on the horizon, so much of that cap space will be saved for re-signing current players or cheaper free agents.

Colts | T.Y. Hilton quiet in Week 14

Mon, 09 Dec 2013 15:56:54 -0800

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton had just two catches for seven yards while playing 45 snaps in Week 14 against the Cincinnati Bengals. In the last four weeks, Hilton has just 17 catches for 135 yards. Hilton had back-to-back 100-yard receiving games following WR Reggie Wayne's (knee) injury, but since then, opposing secondaries are clamping down on Hilton and giving him more double coverages. "I'm seeing double teams. Sometimes they roll the coverage my way. It just means guys got to step up, which they did, so we're moving in the right direction. (LaVon) Brazill, DHB (Darrius Heyward-Bey) made a big play and Da'Rick (Rogers) making plays, so as long as they continue to keep doing that, we should be fine."

Fantasy Tip: As a result, Da'Rick Rogers and LaVon Brazill have seen more opportunities. Rogers has benefitted the most, so maybe his emergence will draw some attention off of Hilton. Until then, temper your expectations with Hilton as more of a weak WR2.

One NFL personnel executive said Friday, Nov. 1, that he expects WR T.Y. Hilton to take on a "front line, prominent role" following the loss of WR Reggie Wayne (knee).

Colts | No. 3 WR job up for grabs

Mon, 28 Oct 2013 19:37:45 -0700

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano is uncertain who will step up as the team's No. 3 wide receiver behind WRs Darrius Heyward-Bey and T.Y. Hilton with WR Reggie Wayne (knee) done for the season. WRs LaVon Brazill and Griff Whalen are expected to battle for the job.

Fantasy Tip: The winner of the No. 3 battle is still not a recommended fantasy option at this point. Brazill has speed to burn, and seems like he should be the favorite, but unless Heyward-Bey or Hilton also go down, don't waste the roster spot.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like Hilton is a full go. With Indy likely becoming more run-centric, Hilton isn't an obvious weekly start these days. The matchup is pretty nice, however, against the Jacksonville Jaguars this weekend.

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano said the offense needs to get more touches for WR T.Y. Hilton moving forward. Hilton was on the field for only 24 snaps in the team's Week 1 game.

Fantasy Tip: Hilton had a pretty quiet week with only 20 yards but should be more involved in the offense this week if Pagano gets his way. Hilton should be in the starting lineup because his targets should increase.

Colts | Blocking ability helps Darrius Heyward-Bey

Wed, 28 Aug 2013 08:57:37 -0700

The Indianapolis Colts have kept WR Darrius Heyward-Bey as a starter over speedy WR T.Y. Hilton, and the teams cites Heyward-Bey's blocking skills in the run game as a major factor.

Fantasy Tip: Still, while Hilton is expected to be on the field in passing-only situations, he still has bigger play ability. Plus, this isn't engraved in stone, and could change as the season progresses. However, initially, Hilton might get off to a little bit of a slow start. As far as Heyward-Bey, he should still be nothing more than a WR3/4 or flex option with little upside.

Sun, 11 Aug 2013 13:18:35 -0700

Colts | T.Y. Hilton moving around

Wed, 31 Jul 2013 10:17:56 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR T.Y. Hilton is battling WR Darrius Heyward-Bey for the No. 2 receiver spot in training camp. Offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton has used Hilton all over the field, lining up outside on the left and right, and also in the slot. Hilton is also expected to serve as the team's primary punt returner.

Fantasy Tip: Hilton has big-play ability, leading the team with seven touchdown grabs in his rookie season, and a strong 17.2 yards per reception. Hilton is solid WR3 or flex play in most standard leagues, and he has even more value in those formats which reward longer touchdowns. Hilton is also a strong WR2 play in leagues which reward individual return yardage.

Colts | HC praises T.Y. Hilton

Tue, 30 Jul 2013 09:50:42 -0700

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano has been impressive the work of WR T.Y. Hilton so far during training camp. "That guy's a freak. I'd hate to be the guy on the opposite side of the ball (of Hilton). He just keeps growing. He's put so much time in, not only in the weight room, but in the classroom. Really impressed with his start and where he's going," Pagano said Tuesday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: Hilton showed some big-play ability in 2012, and he will again be a downfield threat for Andrew Luck. Reggie Wayne is getting a little long in the tooth, so it might not be long before Hilton is the top wideout target on the team for fantasy owners.

Colts | LaVon Brazill's spot not a given

Tue, 30 Jul 2013 09:01:04 -0700

Indianapolis Colts WR LaVon Brazill admitted he made a mistake in the offseason, and he now has a four-game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy to start the season as a result. Brazill said he needs to decide between "money and marijuana." That isn't his only battle. He is also vying for the fourth receiver spot behind WRs Reggie Wayne, Darrius Heyward-Bey and T.Y. Hilton, so his roster spot isn't necessarily a given.

Fantasy Tip: Fantasy owners will want to avoid Brazill to start the season, even if he wins the No. 4 job, due to his four-game suspension. He has big-play ability, but with plenty of depth at the position, it will likely take an injury or two to open up a more prominent role for the former Ohio Bobcat.
