Broncos | Case Keenum the unquestioned starter

Sat, 02 Jun 2018 19:08:18 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Case Keenum has been taking all of the first-team reps during OTAs, and offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave said the exclusive work is paying dividends.

Fantasy Tip: It's no surprise that Denver is putting emphasis on Keenum learning the offense, and with a solid receiving corps to work with, he could prove last year's breakout in Minnesota was no fluke. Consider him a high-end QB2.

Broncos | Case Keenum has incentive to win

Fri, 16 Mar 2018 14:07:07 -0700

Denver Broncos QB Case Keenum has $1 million in annual incentives, and they're entirely based on playoff wins.

Fantasy Tip: Playoff wins do not mean anything to fantasy owners, who will be done by then. However, if he is able to realize those incentives it likely means he played at a high level during the regular season for his fantasy owners. He has one of the better one-two wideout duos in Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders, so expect big things out of Keenum.

Broncos | Case Keenum likely headed to Denver

Mon, 12 Mar 2018 23:50:53 -0700

Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent QB Case Keenum intends to sign with the Denver Broncos shortly after the start of the new league year Wednesday, March 14, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: The Broncos likely realized they probably weren't going to land Kirk Cousins, nor does it appear they wanted to pony up the cash it was going to take to get him. Current senior personnel advisor Gary Kubiak gave the former undrafted free agent his start in 2013 when he was the Houston Texans' head coach and likely played a huge role in convincing general manager John Elway to take the plunge. The addition of Keenum should not keep Denver from drafting a quarterback with the No. 5 overall pick next month, so it is too early to say for sure if Keenum is worth drafting for fantasy purposes.

Bills | BUF may consider Sam Bradford, Case Keenum

Mon, 12 Mar 2018 09:06:35 -0700

Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent QBs Sam Bradford and Case Keenum could be options for the Buffalo Bills during free-agency.

Fantasy Tip: The Bills likely will be looking for a veteran quarterback since they traded Tyrod Taylor last week. Bradford may be the more likely option for the Bills since Keenum will receive interest from several teams. Both quarterbacks probably would be considered No. 2 fantasy quarterbacks if they signed with the Bills.

Broncos | Case Keenum of interest to Broncos

Wed, 07 Mar 2018 10:24:38 -0800

Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent QB Case Keenum has drawn interest from the Denver Broncos, according to 9news.com's Mike Klis.

Fantasy Tip: This isn't a big surprise as Keenum will likely be Denver's backup plan if they can't corral Kirk Cousins. Keenum won't be in as high demand as Cousins, but he will be in high demand since he is considered the No. 2 quarterback on the free-agent market. That is after Drew Brees re-signs with the New Orleans Saints. Keenum is capable of QB1 games, but he's not a every-week QB1.

Vikings | Four expected to pursue Case Keenum

Sun, 04 Mar 2018 11:43:59 -0800

Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent QB Case Keenum is expected to be pursued by the Vikings, Denver Broncos, Cleveland Browns and Arizona Cardinals in free agency, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum is coming off a terrific 2017 season and should receive a lucrative contract this offseason. He has a chance to be a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback in 2018 depending on his team.

Vikings | GM won't rule out tag for Case Keenum

Wed, 28 Feb 2018 13:20:28 -0800

Updating an ongoing story, Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman would not rule out placing the franchise tag on impending free-agent QB Case Keenum. "There's been no decisions made, unlike what's been reported," he said Wednesday, Feb. 28, at the 2018 NFL Scouting Combine.

Vikings | Case Keenum unlikely to be tagged

Mon, 26 Feb 2018 10:26:49 -0800

Updating an ongoing story, Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent QB Case Keenum is unlikely to receive the franchise tag and is expected to hit the open market, according to sources. The Vikings are expected to look for a new starting quarterback for 2018.

Fantasy Tip: The market should sort this one out. Keenum may not receive a lot of interest in a starting situation, primarily due to a deep rookie class. Minnesota may return to Keenum as an option after the draft, so stay tuned. Either way, he is no better than a low-end QB2 in deeper leagues.

Vikings | Case Keenum the frontrunner?

Sun, 18 Feb 2018 18:22:27 -0800

Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent QB Case Keenum is still the favorite to return as the starter in 2018 because offensive coordinator John DeFilippo prefers athletic quarterbacks, according to Charley Walters of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum had a breakout campaign in 2017, and if he does return as Minnesota's starter, he should be a solid QB2.

Vikings | Mike Zimmer not sold on Case Keenum?

Tue, 23 Jan 2018 12:19:54 -0800

Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent QB Case Keenum's future with the Vikings is in limbo. Head coach Mike Zimmer said the Vikings will go through the process of determining who their starting quarterback will be next season. Keenum and fellow QBs Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Bradford are all in the running.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum deserves to be the top candidate to start in 2018 after his coming out party that led the Vikings to the NFC Championship. Minnesota does have three gunslingers with starter caliber, but none of them are reliable week-to-week starting fantasy quarterbacks.

Vikings | Case Keenum unsure of team's interest

Mon, 22 Jan 2018 10:53:03 -0800

Minnesota Vikings impending free-agent QB Case Keenum said he has not received any indication from the Vikings on if they want to re-sign him this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum is one of three Vikings quarterbacks that will be unrestricted free agents this offseason, but it is not known which quarterback the Vikings will look to re-sign. Keenum finished the regular season with 3,547 yards and 22 touchdowns after taking over the starting job early in the season. He probably will be a starting quarterback for a team in 2018 and should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback in most leagues.

Vikings | Case Keenum comes up short

Sun, 21 Jan 2018 18:15:27 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum completed 28 of his 48 pass attempts for 271 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Jan. 21.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum did a good job holding down the fort with Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater missing huge chunks of the season due to injury, and he almost carried them to the Super Bowl. He will head into the offseason as an impending unrestricted free agent. The way he played he might find a starting job in 2018.

Vikings | Case Keenum could be tagged

Sun, 21 Jan 2018 18:13:34 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum could receive the franchise tag, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Fantasy Tip: Minnesota will have some big decisions to make about the quarterback position this offseason. If Keenum does end up back under center to start 2018, he will be worth a look as a QB2.

Vikings | Case Keenum leads miraculous win

Sun, 14 Jan 2018 17:34:53 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum completed 25 of his 40 pass attempts for 318 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the NFC Divisional Round playoff game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Jan. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum's only TD of the afternoon will go down in NFL Playoff history as one of the most amazing wins. He hit Stefon Diggs on a 61-yard pass play with no time left in regulation to stun the Saints. Next up is a visit against the top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game.

Vikings | Pat Shurmur, Case Keenum could join forces again

Sun, 07 Jan 2018 06:33:43 -0800

If Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur gets hired as a head coach by a club in desperate need of a quarterback, QB Case Keenum could join the same team, according to multiple league sources. Keenum will be a free agent at the end of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Shurmur has received interest from the Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions and New York Giants thus far, with the Cardinals and Giants possessing the most unstable quarterback situations. Keenum has played at a high level this year and could be viewed as a low-end QB1 in fantasy leagues next season depending on where he lands.

Sun, 31 Dec 2017 13:49:25 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum completed 21-of-29 pass attempts for 189 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 17 game against the Chicago Bears. RB Latavius Murray galloped for 111 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries, while RB Jerick McKinnon rushed 12 times for 44 yards. WR Stefon Diggs was the top receiver with 65 yards and a touchdown on six grabs, while WR Adam Thielen posted six receptions for 61 yards on seven targets. TE David Morgan was good for three receptions and 35 yards, with WR Laquon Treadwell adding three catches and 16 yards.

Vikings | No contract talks between MIN, Case Keenum

Sun, 24 Dec 2017 08:11:18 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum has not had any contract extension talks with the Vikings at this point, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum has played really well this season and likely will receive a nice contract from a team this offseason. He has a chance to be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in fantasy leagues in 2018.

Vikings | Quiet night for Case Keenum

Sat, 23 Dec 2017 20:54:38 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum completed 14 of his 25 passes for 139 yards and a touchdown in a 16-0 win over the Green Bay Packers in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum had tossed multiple touchdowns in four straight games prior to tonight's pedestrian line. He did leave a couple of big plays on the field, but for the most part, the Vikings were happy to go with a conservative approach while their defense shut down a hapless Green Bay offense.

Vikings | Minnesota unlikely to franchise tag QBs

Fri, 22 Dec 2017 10:02:43 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Bradford and Case Keenum aren't expected to receive the franchise tag this offseason, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Andrew Krammer.

Fantasy Tip: Despite Keenum's stellar play in 2017, it'd be an extreme stretch to say he is worth franchising, especially for a team like the Vikings, who haven't used the tag on a player since 2011. The franchise tag is expected to cost around $22 million in 2018 and Minnesota tends to be frugal, so it is conceivable the team opts to go with Teddy Bridgewater and an early-round draft pick at the position should both Bradford and Keenum ask for too much.

Vikings | Case Keenum has awesome matchup

Fri, 22 Dec 2017 07:11:47 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum has a great matchup against the Green Bay Packers in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: The Packers have allowed the most fantasy points to QBs over the last five weeks. They've also been eliminated from the playoffs and have little to play for. Keenum has completed 74.2 percent of his passes this month with two TDs per game. He's a low-end QB1 consideration this week.

Vikings | Case Keenum has solid performance

Sun, 17 Dec 2017 13:37:23 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum went 20-for-33 for 236 yards and two touchdowns against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 15.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum has thrown at least two touchdowns in six of the last seven games and has only five interceptions during that span. He should have a favorable matchup next week against the Green Bay Packers and can be a No. 1 fantasy quarterback.

Vikings | Case Keenum tosses pair of TDs

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 14:17:12 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum completed 27 of his 44 pass attempts for 280 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 14 game against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum threw at least two touchdowns for the third straight game, a new season high for consecutive games with two or more scoring strikes. He continues to get it done under center for the Vikings, keeping Teddy Bridgewater nailed to the bench. They lost this one, but he played well and gave them a chance to win. He has emerged as a low-end QB1 in all fantasy formats.

Vikings | Two touchdowns for Case Keenum

Sun, 03 Dec 2017 13:03:23 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum went 25-for-30 for 227 yards and two touchdowns against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum has played very well since taking over as the starter for the Vikings and should continue to hold the job. He will be facing a solid Carolina Panthers defense in Week 14 but could still be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in deeper leagues.

Vikings | Case Keenum named Week 13 starter

Fri, 24 Nov 2017 09:24:05 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum will remain the starting quarterback in Week 13 versus the Atlanta Falcons, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

Fantasy Tip: It may seem like a no-duh statement at this point, but it also goes to show just how much of an impression Teddy Bridgewater has left on the organization. The Vikings would like nothing more than to get him in the lineup at this point, but Keenum has the Minnesota offense rolling with multiple touchdowns in three of the last four games and playing the best football of his pro career. He will remain in the streamer conversation in Week 13.

Vikings | Case Keenum carves up Detroit

Thu, 23 Nov 2017 13:22:59 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum totaled 302 yards and three touchdowns in a Thanksgiving win versus the Detroit Lions Thursday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum made a strong case for keeping the starting job away from Teddy Bridgewater. He has done nothing to force the Vikings' hand in making Bridgewater the starter, but he has forced us to consider him as a weekly starter.

Vikings | Case Keenum to draw another start

Tue, 21 Nov 2017 10:03:08 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum was confirmed as the starting quarterback for the team's Week 12 Thanksgiving Day game against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: It seems only a matter of time before head coach Mike Zimmer makes the move to Teddy Bridgewater considering he is addressing and answering this question every week, but it would be foolish to pull the plug on Keenum until he gives the Vikings a reason to do so and especially on a short week. Keenum remains firmly in the fantasy QB2 discussion for now.

Vikings | Case Keenum tosses for 280 yards, TD

Sun, 19 Nov 2017 15:40:53 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum completed 27 of his 38 pass attempts for 280 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the Week 11 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum has led the team to an 8-2 record and the perch in the NFC North Division. Teddy Bridgewater is back, but head coach Mike Zimmer basically said that no quarterback change is being considered. Keenum is the leader of this team right now and he has emerged as a borderline fantasy option. The Vikings face the Lions on Thanksgiving in Detroit in Week 12.

Vikings | Minnesota tempted to start Teddy Bridgewater

Wed, 15 Nov 2017 11:38:24 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater was reportedly very close to overtaking Case Keenum for the starting job in large part because the Vikings view Bridgewater as "their franchise," according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.

Fantasy Tip: What it means is that Keenum will be on the shortest of leashes despite throwing for four touchdowns in Week 10. The Vikings need to be able to make a decision on him as he can become a free agent after the season. Minnesota knows Keenum is a placeholder at best; what the team needs to find out is if Bridgewater is more than what he showed in a limited offense built around Adrian Peterson in 2014 and 2015. He's worth stashing in all fantasy leagues.

Vikings | Case Keenum will remain starter

Mon, 13 Nov 2017 13:20:17 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum will continue to start despite QB Teddy Bridgewater being available to return.

Fantasy Tip: It would have been difficult to bench Keenum for Bridgewater given the circumstances. The Vikings are rolling on offense, Keenum is playing well and they're riding a five-game winning streak. Why mess up the momentum? Even so, Keenum can't be trusted as QB1 this week in a tough matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.

Vikings | Case Keenum tosses four TDs

Sun, 12 Nov 2017 17:24:52 -0800

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum completed 21 of his 29 pass attempts for 304 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions in the Week 10 win against the Washington Redskins.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum was sharp, and looked a lot more comfortable with Stefon Diggs also back at 100 percent, too. Most of his big plays went to Adam Thielen, however, as the two have developed a nice little rapport.

Vikings | Case Keenum throws two TDs

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 09:34:32 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum went 27-for-43 for 288 yards, two touchdowns and one interception against the Cleveland Browns in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum has been a solid quarterback for the Vikings over the last several weeks, but it is not known if he will be the starter when the team returns in Week 10. Keenum would be facing a solid Washington Redskins defense if he starts in Week 10 and probably can be avoided.

Vikings | Teddy Bridgewater appears close to returning

Sun, 29 Oct 2017 07:32:51 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) could resume playing as soon as Week 10 versus the Washington Redskins, according to a source informed of the situation. It is believed that he could be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list after the team's Week 9 bye and could compete with QB Case Keenum for the starting job.

Fantasy Tip: The 24-year-old Bridgewater has been sidelined since the 2016 preseason due to a significant left knee injury suffered on a non-contact play. Even if he does regain the starting quarterback job, fantasy owners should avoid using Bridgewater in his first few weeks back so that he can prove he is both healthy and effective.

Fri, 27 Oct 2017 14:27:37 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum (chest) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 27, and is not on the injury report for Week 8.

Vikings | Case Keenum gets the nod

Fri, 27 Oct 2017 05:06:35 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum will start again Sunday, Oct. 29, against the Cleveland Browns.

Fantasy Tip: The Browns provide a midrange matchup for Keenum, who has kept the team competitive. However, he's not a banner target in fantasy outside of two-QB leagues.

Vikings | Case Keenum takes part in practice

Thu, 26 Oct 2017 11:12:32 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum (chest) fully participated in practice Thursday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum likely will receive another start this week as long as he does not suffer a setback over the next few days. He has not posted great numbers since his terrific Week 3 performance but will have a favorable matchup in Week 8. Keenum can be a decent option for owners looking for a bye week replacement at quarterback.

Vikings | Case Keenum nursing chest injury

Wed, 25 Oct 2017 13:45:59 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum (chest) was a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Oct. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum is expected to start in Week 8 against the Cleveland Browns in London, as Sam Bradford once again was unable to take to the practice field. Keenum's fantasy appeal is rather limited, but it could be helped out if Stefon Diggs can return this week from ankle and groin ailments.

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 13:49:19 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum went 20-for-31 for 188 yards and one interception against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum has thrown for less than 200 yards in two of his last three games but likely will continue to be the starting quarterback as long as Sam Bradford is sidelined. He will have a favorable matchup next week if he starts and could be a starting option for owners in deeper leagues.

Fri, 20 Oct 2017 10:49:19 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Bradford (knee) has been ruled out and Case Keenum will start again versus the Baltimore Ravens in Week 7, according to head coach Mike Zimmer.

Fantasy Tip: As expected. Keenum is not an advisable streaming option most weeks and this one is no exception. Bradford has yet to practice since aggravating his knee injury in Week 5 and remains without a timeline. It might not be long before Teddy Bridgewater gets a chance.

Vikings | Case Keenum throws for 239 yards, TD

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum completed 24 of his 38 pass attempts for 239 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Week 6 game against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum continues to spread the ball around nicely and he jelled nicely with Adam Thielen in this one with Stefon Diggs sidelined and Michael Floyd checking out early. However, he remains more of a low-end QB2 heading into Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens.

Vikings | Case Keenum fills in, looks solid on MNF

Mon, 09 Oct 2017 23:05:11 -0700

Fantasy Tip: If Bradford has to miss more time, and Keenum can continue to play like he did on Monday Night Football, there may not be a downgrade for the weapons around him, as initially thought. Keenum had a very solid game, although at the same time, he's not a QB 1 to lean on in fantasy.

Vikings | Case Keenum takes step back in loss

Sun, 01 Oct 2017 15:04:20 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum completed 16 of his 30 pass attempts for 219 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum took a big step back after a big performance in Week 4, and it didn't help that he lost starting RB Dalvin Cook (knee) to an ugly injury. It's uncertain how long Sam Bradford will continue to be on the shelf, but Keenum is best used as a low-end QB2 in most fantasy leagues despite his big outing last week. The Vikings travel to play the Bears on Monday Night Football in Week 5.

Vikings | Sam Bradford to miss another game

Thu, 28 Sep 2017 13:30:46 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Bradford (knee) has been ruled out of the team's Week 4 game, according to head coach Mike Zimmer. QB Case Keenum will receive his third straight start.

Fantasy Tip: It is not known when Bradford will be able to return, so owners should keep an eye on the situation. Keenum is coming off an outstanding Week 3 performance where he threw for 369 yards and three touchdowns. Keenum will be facing a solid Detroit Lions defense but could be a low-end No. 1 fantasy quarterback in deeper leagues.

Sun, 24 Sep 2017 13:52:33 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum went 25-for-33 for 369 yards and three touchdowns against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum played much better than he did in Week 2 and could start again next week if Sam Bradford is still sidelined by his knee injury. He would be facing the Detroit Lions if he starts next week and probably should not a starting option in most fantasy leagues.

Vikings | Case Keenum gets nod in Week 3

Fri, 22 Sep 2017 15:21:58 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum will be the starter again in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with QB Sam Bradford (knee) on the shelf.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum being under center means a decrease in fantasy appeal for Stefon Diggs, Kyle Rudolph, Adam Thielen, etc. Diggs and Thielen should be treated as WR3 or WR4 options, while Rudolph is still a red zone threat and a solid low-end TE1. Vikings | Case Keenum throws for 167 yards

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 14:19:39 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum went 20-for-37 for 167 yards against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum was the starter because Sam Bradford is dealing with a knee injury and could start Week 3 if Bradford is not able to play. Keenum should not be an option in any fantasy league and will hurt the value of Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen and Kyle Rudolph if he starts again.

Vikings | Case Keenum to start Week 2

Sun, 17 Sep 2017 07:59:17 -0700

Minnesota Vikings QB Case Keenum will be the starting quarterback against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2 in place of QB Sam Bradford (knee), according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Keenum has had some success over the last few years but should not be a fantasy option in any league. Stefon Diggs, Adam Thielen and Kyle Rudolph will see a drop in their fantasy value but could still be starting options for owners.
