Bengals | Marvin Jones excited for free agency

Wed, 03 Feb 2016 16:13:18 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WR Marvin Jones is excited to test the free-agent market this offseason. "I love Cincinnati, but at the same time I am a free agent," Jones said. "It wouldn't be good for me not to test the waters a little bit. It's just an exciting process." Jones does not want to give the Bengals a hometown discount as he prefers to approach free agency from all angles and hope an irresistible offer arises.

Fantasy Tip: Of course, Jones may be excited to see how much money he's offered from other teams, which is normal for a free agent. Jones may also look for a place where he can make No. 1 wide receiver money, but his production doesn't necessarily reflect that money. His fantasy value will obviously be impacted by if he moves or not, so stay tuned to his status over the coming months.

Lions | Marvin Jones a top target for Lions

Mon, 01 Feb 2016 06:28:53 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WR Marvin Jones could be the top target for the Detroit Lions this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Jones could be a breakout candidate in fantasy with a new team and would garner WR3 value in drafts.

Patriots | Bengals receivers of interest to Patriots?

Sat, 30 Jan 2016 11:40:05 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals impending free-agent WRs Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu could be targets for the New England Patriots this offseason, in the opinion of ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss. Reiss believes Jones' route-running ability would translate well in New England's offensive system, and that Sanu could draw interest as an alumnus of the Rutgers, a program for which the Patriots have high regard.

Fantasy Tip: Danny Amendola and Brandon LaFell have uncertain futures with the Patriots based on their 2016 contracts, as Reiss also notes, so they could definitely be in the wide receiver market this offseason. New England could also pursue the position through the draft, but Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman will remain their top two playmakers nonetheless.

Bengals | Free agency for three Bengals receivers

Tue, 26 Jan 2016 16:33:59 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WRs Marvin Jones, Mohamed Sanu and Brandon Tate are impending unrestricted free agents this offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Jones will likely be the top free-agent priority, at least among their group of receivers, as he is coming off a career-high 816-yard season. Sanu has also shown flashes, but has not been as involved as Jones when Jones is healthy. Tate may be the odd man out and doesn't hold much fantasy value.

Fri, 01 Jan 2016 10:50:26 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (hamstring) practiced fully Friday, Jan. 1, and he's probable for Week 17.

Bengals | Marvin Jones still limited

Thu, 31 Dec 2015 13:24:03 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (hamstring) was limited in practice Thursday, Dec. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) has a solid matchup versus the Baltimore Ravens in Week 17. Baltimore has the third-worst fantasy defense against wide receivers this year, and with Jones' cheap price, he's not a bad sleeper option if he plays.

Bengals | Marvin Jones, AJ McCarron limited

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 14:05:24 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (hamstring) and QB AJ McCarron (wrist) were limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 30.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals still have a playoff seed to play for, so Jones ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) and McCarron ($4,800, 9.6%) still have value in Week 17. Jones in particular has a great matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, who are the third-worst fantasy defense against wide receivers this year.

Bengals | Three Bengals probable for Week 12

Fri, 27 Nov 2015 11:41:36 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (groin), TE Tyler Eifert (knee) and WR Marvin Jones (hamstring) are listed as probable for Week 12 against the St. Louis Rams.

Fantasy Tip: The Bengals have been one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL this season, but the Rams are a very tough test. They have a top-tier defense against the pass and the run, so lower your expectations for the Bengals' offense as a whole.

Bengals | Marvin Jones practices Thursday

Thu, 26 Nov 2015 13:03:18 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (hamstring) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) should be able to play this week against the St. Louis Rams and has been a solid part of the passing game over the last few weeks. Jones could be a cheaper option on FantasyScore, but owners could find better options to use.

Bengals | Two Bengals limited Wednesday

Wed, 25 Nov 2015 15:14:51 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (groin) and WR Marvin Jones (hamstring) were limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Unfortunately for Dalton ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) and Jones ($3,400, 6.8%), the St. Louis Rams have been stellar against the pass this year, boasting the second-best fantasy defense against quarterbacks behind the Denver Broncos. Dalton has been solid all year, but there are better options at quarterback and wide receiver this week.

Bengals | Marvin Jones posts 60 yards

Sun, 22 Nov 2015 22:23:28 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones racked up four catches for 60 yards in the Week 11 game against the Arizona Cardinals. He was targeted nine times.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has managed four or more receptions in three straight games, and five of the past six outings. While he has been held out of the end zone in four straight starts, he remains a decent WR3 or flex play in most fantasy formats.

Bengals | Marvin Jones posts four receptions

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones posted four receptions for 44 yards in the Week 10 game against the Houston Texans Monday, Nov. 16. He was targeted nine times.

Fantasy Tip: Jones had an off night, but he remains a decent WR3 or flex option in FantasyScore as the Bengals are trying to get him the ball. However, with a difficult Week 11 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals it is best to stay away.

Bengals | Opponents trying to stop A.J. Green

Tue, 20 Oct 2015 09:44:10 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green was targeted seven times in Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills, which was second on the team to WR Marvin Jones' 14 targets and nine catches. The Bills put different cornerbacks on Green throughout the game and rolled safeties in his direction in order to shut him down. Offensive coordinator Hue Jackson noticed that opposing defenses are trying to prevent Green from getting the ball after he went off for 10 catches, 227 yards and two touchdowns against the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Tip: It's unknown if Cincy's opponents will continue to take a similar approach on Green ($7,800, 15.6% of cap), but as long as the Bengals offense keeps rolling, he's a strong play in any format. Marvin Jones ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) should continue to be an excellent value pick in daily games, too, especially if Green remains the focal point for opposing defenses.

Bengals | Probable status for Marvin Jones

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 14:21:12 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (foot) practiced in full for the second straight day Friday, Oct. 16, and is probable for Week 6 against the Buffalo Bills.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) is a great value play on FantasyScore this weekend against a Bills defense that's allowing 41.4 PPR fantasy points to receivers per game (sixth-most) this year, especially if they devote extra attention to stopping A.J. Green.

Bengals | Marvin Jones practices in full

Thu, 15 Oct 2015 15:48:12 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (foot) took part in a full practice Thursday, Oct. 15, after being limited Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) faces a Buffalo Bills defense allowing 41.4 PPR fantasy points per game to receivers (sixth-most) that will likely pay plenty of attention to A.J. Green. Jones is a perfectly acceptable sleeper pick as one of your wideouts on FantasyScore.

Bengals | Marvin Jones limited

Wed, 14 Oct 2015 16:12:41 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (foot) was limited during practice Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Jones ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) should be able to play against the Buffalo Bills in Week 6. He has received at least five targets in three of his last four games and should continue to have a solid role. Owners could consider Jones as a cheaper option on FantasyScore.

Bengals | Marvin Jones sees considerable time

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 07:44:31 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones was on the field for 67 of 77 offensive snaps in Week 3, which accounted for 87% of the Bengals' plays.

Fantasy Tip: Jones had a nice day, hauling in five passes for 94 yards and a score as the second fiddle to WR A.J. Green. Any player seeing that much time deserves fantasy attention. Add the 2013 breakout in all formats.

Wed, 19 Aug 2015 18:27:24 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones ran with the first-team offense on the outside for the second consecutive practice Wednesday, Aug. 19.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is angling to win the starting job opposite A.J. Green and it appears he has a leg up in the race. If he can start Week 1, he would be worth a look as a WR3/4 or flex fantasy option in most standard formats.

Bengals | Marvin Jones practices in pads

Wed, 12 Aug 2015 21:10:11 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (hamstring) was able to take part in his first practice in pads Wednesday, Aug. 12. He was running with the first team offense. "Feel good opening up really for the first time since I've been back in this thing," Jones said.

Fantasy Tip: Jones, who is challenging for a starting spot opposite A.J. Green, posted 10 touchdowns in 2013. If he can stay healthy and return to his 2013 form he could be quite the sleeper for fantasy football players on draft day.

Bengals | Marvin Jones practices

Sat, 08 Aug 2015 12:51:47 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (hamstring) returned to practice Saturday, Aug. 8. Jones had been sitting because of a sore right hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: It's still hard to judge how good Marvin Jones is. He scored 10 times in 2013, but missed all of last season with a broken ankle. A.J. Green will still be the top target in Cincinnati, but Jones could see his fair share of red zone targets. He seems to be underrated when healthy. He's worth a look as a low-end WR4 or high-end WR5.

Bengals | Marvin Jones has hamstring issue

Fri, 07 Aug 2015 19:25:17 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (hamstring) said Friday, Aug. 7, that he has missed the last four days of practice because of soreness in his right hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: On the plus side, Jones hasn't aggravated the foot injury that caused him to miss all of last season. Even if he doesn't open the season as a starter, he is worth a late-round flier after proving to be one of Andy Dalton's go-to targets in the red zone in 2013.

Bengals | Marvin Jones feeling fine

Mon, 20 Jul 2015 19:07:57 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (foot) did not play in 2014 due to a foot injury that required surgery to remove bone chips. However, he said Monday, July 20, that the foot is a non-issue. "We looked at it, got it fixed, and it's not there anymore," Jones said. "It was an unfortunate situation, but it's behind me."

Fantasy Tip: Jones will be trying to secure the starting job opposite A.J. Green during training camp and the preseason, but Mohamed Sanu will have something to say about that. Denarius Moore, Brandon Tate and James Wright will also be nipping at his heels.

Bengals | Marvin Jones is fully recovered

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 18:02:30 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (ankle, foot) did not play in 2014 due to multiple foot and ankle issues, but he is healthy and was impressive in organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp.

Fantasy Tip: Jones will be trying to earn the starting job opposite A.J. Green, with Mohamed Sanu, Brandon Tate, James Wright and perhaps Denarius Moore trying to overtake him. If he can win a starting job and stay healthy, Jones might be a decent late-round pick as a WR4 or flex fantasy option.

Bengals | Marvin Jones happy with progress

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 11:25:41 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (ankle, foot) said he is happy with how he performed during offseason workouts. "I'm rolling. I don't think that's ever going to change. But it feels good just to track those deep balls and go and just - boom! - go. I'm happy and I'm proud of myself for just pushing through this situation," Jones said. Jones showed quick feet and steady hands during the workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Jones has not played in the last two seasons because of injuries, but it appears like he will be ready to play his season. Jones should have a solid role in the team's passing game this season if he is healthy and could be a late-round option in deeper leagues.

Bengals | Marvin Jones having good offseason

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 13:28:28 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (foot, ankle) supposedly looked quicker than he did before missing last season with a broken ankle. Jones was able to get a good amount of repetitions and get his timting back with QB Andy Dalton, according to Coley Harvey of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Tip: Jones was extremely dependent on touchdowns in 2013, when he caught 51 passes for 712 yards and 10 touchdowns. It still remains to be seen if that was a sign of things to come for Jones, or if it was more of an anomaly. He'll probably play behind A.J. Green and Mohamed Sanu at least to start the season. He's a high-risk, high-reward player and should be drafted as a WR5 to be safe.

Bengals | Marvin Jones back at practice

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 19:38:26 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (ankle, foot) was able to take part in practice Tuesday, June 2, at organized team activities (OTAs). He broke away from a cornerback and had a catch on a deep route from QB Andy Dalton.

Fantasy Tip: Jones banged up his ankle or foot early in OTAs, but apparently he is fine. He has the chance to win a starting job opposite A.J. Green, and could figure prominently into the offense and fantasy plans if he is able to secure a starting role. Still, Mohamed Sanu and others might have something to say about that, so stay tuned.

Bengals | Marvin Jones should be at workouts

Fri, 22 May 2015 11:16:44 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (foot) should be able to participate in offseason workouts that start next week.

Fantasy Tip: Jones missed the entire 2014 season because of a foot injury but appears ready to participate in practice. Jones should have a role in the offense this season and could be a late-round option in draft if he is the Bengals' No. 3 receiver.

Bengals | Marvin Jones to be ready by April?

Sat, 07 Feb 2015 11:22:21 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (ankle) plans to be ready to go when team workouts commence in April. "I've been surprised at the progress I've made in only going on my second week training and at the rate I'm going I'm sure I will be in game shape very soon," Jones said.

Fantasy Tip: It's always risky taking a chance on a player who's missed an entire season as Jones did in 2014 with a broken foot. There's still plenty of time for him to prove he can get back into double-digit touchdown form, but consider him a late-round option for now.

Thu, 29 Jan 2015 16:31:26 -0800

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (ankle) is progressing well, according to head coach Marvin Lewis. Jones is recovering from a broken foot he suffered last offseason.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is still on the road to recovery, so his status still needs to be monitored throughout the season. When healthy, he's a big touchdown threat alongside A.J. Green.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (ankle) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Oct. 14. In a corresponding move, the team waived LB Khairi Fortt.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is done for the season and should be dropped in all leagues. The Bengals also signed Greg Little to boost their wide receiver depth, but at this time he has to be considered behind the likes of James Wright, Brandon Tate and Dane Sanzenbacher on the depth chart.

Bengals | Marvin Jones seeing specialist

Tue, 14 Oct 2014 09:03:20 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (ankle) will see a foot specialist to have his right ankle examined Tuesday, Oct. 14, according to a source. Jones will evaluate the injury and weigh his options with respect to what the team should to with his injury-list status. Jones hasn't played this year and only took part in five practices since training camp. The belief is that Jones broke his other foot trying to overcompensate for his right ankle injury. Surgery is being discussed as a possibility.

Fantasy Tip: Jones doesn't deserve to be on a roster in standard leagues if he can't make it back to the field. With both Jones and A.J. Green (toe) out at least another week, Mohamed Sanu ($5,900; 11.8% of cap) should have another nice day against the Indianapolis Colts.

Bengals | Marvin Jones not progressing

Mon, 13 Oct 2014 16:11:57 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (ankle) is not seeing any progress from his injury, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

Fantasy Tip: That's good news for Mohamed Sanu, who has excelled in the absence of A.J. Green (ankle) and Jones. Sanu has made a case to continue to be heavily involved, even when Green and Jones return to action.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (ankle) will not play in Week 6 against the Carolina Panthers after tweaking his ankle two practices after returning from a broken foot. Jones did not practice Friday, Oct. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Both Jones and A.J. Green (toe) are out, meaning Mohamed Sanu should be a no-brainer for your FantasyScore lineups this weekend at $4,200 (8.4% of cap). An even better sleeper, though: James Wright ($3,000).

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (ankle) missed practice Thursday, Oct. 2. He is dealing with an ankle injury that he suffered in Monday's practice.

Fantasy Tip: Jones' ankle injury is not related to the foot injury that caused him to miss the start of the season, but it is looking unlikely that he will suit up in Week 5. The Bengals have played well without him so far, and it would be a surprise to see them rush Jones back.

Bengals | Bengals ready to use Marvin Jones

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 19:24:01 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (foot) is expected to return in Week 5, and offensive coordinator Hue Jackson said he "can't wait" to use Jones in the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Jones established himself as a red-zone weapon last year when nine of his 10 touchdowns came from inside the opponent's 20-yard line. He could make a sneaky play at FantasyScore when the Bengals take on the Patriots in Week 5 when A.J. Green is likely to draw the attention of Derrelle Revis.
