Carolina Panthers CB Josh Norman is using the off season to regroup and get a fresh start after being benched in the final four games of the 2012 season. Norman realizes he is going to have to have a renewed focus in 2013. "When I get back I need to hit it hard. Hit it hard," Norman said. "I feel as if I'm understanding things and I know more now than I did when I came in last year. It's all a process. You can't get to step two without going through step one."

Carolina Panthers CBs Josh Thomas and James Dockery started at cornerback in Week 14 in favor of struggling CB Josh Norman. "We wanted to see what Josh Thomas could do in a starting role," head coach Ron Rivera said. "And then also (Sunday) we wanted to find an opportunity to play Dockery. I figured half a game would be a pretty good opportunity to see what Dockery could do." Thomas had two tackles and played 64 of the 65 defensive snaps and Dockery had six tackles while playing 47 snaps. Norman played on only nine defensive plays.

Carolina Panthers CB Captain Munnerlyn said he wants to continue as one of the team's starting cornerbacks and does not have any trouble going to nickel back as long as he starts in the base defense. CB Josh Norman is considered a candidate for the starting cornerback job.

The Carolina Panthers have signed second-round draft choice OG Amini Silatolu, fourth-round draft choices DL Frank Alexander and WR Joe Adams, fifth-round draft choice CB Josh Norman and sixth-round draft choice P Brad Nortman. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.
