Patriots | Michael Floyd unlikely to return to NE

Fri, 24 Mar 2017 09:22:14 -0700

Free-agent WR Michael Floyd (Patriots) is a "long shot" to return to the New England Patriots after they acquired Brandin Cooks earlier this month, according to ESPN's Mike Reiss.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd was sentenced to 24 days in jail and 96 days of home detention earlier this offseason as a result of his in-season extreme DUI, so the combination of that punishment and the Patriots' trade of Cooks doesn't leave much room for him. It looks like Floyd could be waiting until training camp before he finds a home, if even then.

Patriots | Michael Floyd gets jail sentence

Fri, 17 Feb 2017 13:00:17 -0800

New England Patriots WR Michael Floyd was sentenced Friday, Feb. 17, after pleading guilty to his extreme DUI charge. He will have to spend 120 days in jail, 24 of which to be served in Maricopa County Jail and the other 96 to be served under house arrest. In addition, Floyd must pay a $5,115 fine and complete 30 hours of community service. The other six charges against him were dismissed.

Fantasy Tip: It's been a significant fall from grace for Floyd, someone who was flirting with regular WR2 status in many leagues as recent as the 2015 season. The former Cardinal will serve all of his jail time during the offseason, but he's also an impending free agent that will be facing a suspension from the NFL as well, not to mention the fact he's coming off a down campaign. Floyd has ways to go to become fantasy relevant again.

Patriots | NE would like to bring back Michael Floyd

Mon, 06 Feb 2017 00:47:33 -0800

The New England Patriots would like to bring back WR Michael Floyd for the 2017 season, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: He was inactive for the Super Bowl, but reports indicate the Patriots kept four receivers so they wouldn't be short on special teams or with their red-zone offense. Floyd may be a WR2 or WR3 at best next year thanks to the Pats' plethora of options.

Patriots | Michael Floyd expected to be inactive

Sun, 05 Feb 2017 12:11:48 -0800

New England Patriots WR Michael Floyd is expected to be a healthy scratch for Super Bowl LI.

Fantasy Tip: It's really not a surprise after he was a healthy scratch for the AFC Championship. Floyd would be the Patriots' fifth receiver behind Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell and Danny Amendola. Virtually any fifth receiver on a game-day roster has to contribute on special teams, and Floyd does not. Along with his limited knowledge of the Patriots' complex offense - he was claimed off waivers on Dec. 15 - the odds are stacked against him playing in the Super Bowl.

Fri, 03 Feb 2017 06:57:59 -0800

New England Patriots impending free-agent WR Michael Floyd said he wants to re-sign with the Patriots in the offseason.

Fantasy Tip: In the near term, Floyd was inactive for the AFC Championship game, and he doesn't figure to be a factor for the Super Bowl. If he returns to the Pats, he'd be an excellent WR4 flyer next season.

New England Patriots WR Michael Floyd finished with on catch on three targets for nine yards in a 34-16 win over the Houston Texans Saturday, Jan. 14.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd is probably still learning the playbook, but if Chris Hogan's injury turns out to be serious, Floyd could be in for a big performance in the conference title game.

Patriots | Michael Floyd likely will be active

Sat, 14 Jan 2017 10:31:48 -0800

New England Patriots WR Michael Floyd likely will serve as the No. 4 receiver for the Patriots if WR Malcolm Mitchell (knee) is not able to play in the Divisional round playoff game.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd has made a solid contribution since joining the Patriots but probably would not receive a lot of targets if he plays against the Houston Texans. Owners probably can find better options and can avoid Floyd.

Sun, 01 Jan 2017 19:15:19 -0800

New England Patriots WR Michael Floyd posted three receptions for 36 yards and a touchdown on four targets in the Week 17 game against the Miami Dolphins.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd was picked up after being jettisoned by the Arizona Cardinals for off-field issues. He has a chance to make an impact in the postseason, and could be a solid WR4 in playoff fantasy leagues.

Thu, 29 Dec 2016 09:07:41 -0800

New England Patriots WR Michael Floyd may receive a bigger role in the passing game in Week 17 if WR Malcolm Mitchell (knee) is not able to play.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd caught one pass for six yards in his first game with the Patriots but could see more targets against the Miami Dolphins. He probably is still learning the offense and should be avoided in most leagues.

Patriots | Michael Floyd quiet in Week 16

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 14:17:02 -0800

New England Patriots WR Michael Floyd caught one pass for six yards against the New York Jets in Week 16.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd was only targeted twice in his first game with the Patriots but could see more time in Week 17. Owners in all leagues probably should avoid him in all leagues next week.

Patriots | Michael Floyd active

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 08:51:23 -0800

New England Patriots WR Michael Floyd is active Sunday, Dec. 24, for Week 16 against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd cannot possibly have a full grasp on the playbook at this point, and even if he plays at all, there is no way gamers can trust him in championship week. There is an outside chance he scores, as being a deep threat is in his wheelhouse, but there is not a justification for finding out the hard way.

Patriots | Michael Floyd could be active

Sat, 24 Dec 2016 08:05:45 -0800

New England Patriots WR Michael Floyd is expected to be active for Week 16's game against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd's role in the New England offense is expected to be minor, especially given the fact that he has only been with the organization for nine days and is still familiarizing himself with the playbook. Look elsewhere for receiving help for your fantasy squad.

Patriots | Michael Floyd won't play in Week 15

Sat, 17 Dec 2016 23:00:42 -0800

Updating previous reports, New England Patriots WR Michael Floyd will be inactive for the team's Week 15 game against the Denver Broncos, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Tip: Not a big surprise given he joined the team midweek. The Pats' only goal is to have Floyd ready for the NFL postseason, not the fantasy one. If you were considering an ill-advised roll of the dice this is definitive proof not to do it.

Patriots | Michael Floyd's status uncertain

Sat, 17 Dec 2016 11:57:43 -0800

New England Patriots WR Michael Floyd will travel with the team for their Week 15 game, but head coach Bill Belichick would not say if Floyd will be active for the game.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd joined the team earlier in the week, so it is not known how much of the playbook he will be able to learn in a few days. Owners may want to see how Floyd is used before considering him for their lineups.

Patriots | Michael Floyd claimed by Pats

Thu, 15 Dec 2016 13:54:24 -0800

Free-agent WR Michael Floyd (Cardinals) was claimed off waivers by the New England Patriots Thursday, Dec. 15.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd joins the likes of Julian Edelman, Malcolm Mitchell, Chris Hogan and Danny Amendola in the Pats' receiving corps. Unfortunately for Floyd, there are too many mouths to feed. He can be left on the waiver wire or on benches during the fantasy playoffs.

Cardinals | Arizona cuts Michael Floyd

Wed, 14 Dec 2016 12:22:12 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd was released Wednesday, Dec. 14. The team also signed free-agent WR Jeremy Ross (Jets). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd was arrested for driving under the influence earlier this week and may not be able to find another team before the end of the season, so owners can drop him in all leagues. JJ Nelson should have a bigger role in the passing game and can be a low-end No. 3 receiver or a flex option.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd arrested for DUI

Tue, 13 Dec 2016 00:53:05 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd was arrested early Monday, Dec. 12. Floyd was found asleep at the wheel of his car while it was running, and he was subsequently arrested on two counts of DUI and one count of "obstructing a roadway and failure to obey a police officer."

Fantasy Tip: Floyd has had other run-ins with the bottle while in college, so this could merit the NFL stepping in with a suspension. In any case, Floyd's future with Arizona is cloudy, and so should his future on your fantasy team. Floyd hasn't produced enough to merit keeping him around.

Sun, 11 Dec 2016 17:21:48 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd hauled in a pair of receptions for 18 yards in the Week 14 game against the Miami Dolphins He was targeted just three times.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd has taken a huge step back this season, falling off the fantasy map with four straight games of 31 receiving yards or less. You can no longer rely upon him in fantasy football except in the very deepest of leagues.

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) was a full participant in practice Friday, Dec. 2, and isn't listed on the Week 13 injury report.

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 30.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd surpassed the 100-yard mark three weeks ago but has posted 52 yards in the last two games. He has also gone five games without a touchdown. He may be a flex option in very deep leagues but can stay on the bench in standard leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd has been limited to four catches for 52 yards over the last two games and has gone five games without a touchdown. He has still been targeted at least five times in four of the last five games, but owners probably should pass on Floyd until he posts better numbers.

Sun, 27 Nov 2016 08:32:48 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) is active for Week 12's game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd was listed as a game-time decision after sitting out the team's final two practices during the week. Now that he is active, he is worthy of consideration as a flex option in deeper fantasy leagues.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd to be game-time decision

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 12:15:48 -0800

Updating a previous story, Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) will be a game-time decision in Week 12 against the Atlanta Falcons, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

Fantasy Tip: With Desmond Trufant a good bet to shadow Larry Fitzgerald on the majority of snaps this week, Floyd was in a good spot to deliver a WR3-caliber fantasy line against the Falcons' questionable secondary. A less-than-100 percent Floyd is enough of a dice-roll this year with Carson Palmer not playing well, so a limited Floyd isn't worth starting even in a game that figures to be a bit of a shootout. John Brown and J.J. Nelson are solid low-end WR3 candidates this weekend.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd misses practice Friday

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 11:10:25 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) sat out a second straight practice Friday, Nov. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Considering he suffered the injury mid-week and hasn't practiced since, he's looking very much like a longshot to face the Atlanta Falcons this weekend. Since top corner Desmond Trufant figures to follow Larry Fitzgerald across the formation, Floyd was a good candidate to bounce back with a decent game this week after struggling through an illness in Week 11. In Floyd's likely absence, John Brown and J.J. Nelson are candidates to post WR3 numbers.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd misses practice

Thu, 24 Nov 2016 20:24:11 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) did not practice Thursday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd was added to the injury report, so he must have tweaked his hamstring during practice. He has struggled with consistency all year, but he has flex potential in Week 12 against a suspect Atlanta defense.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd dealing with the flu

Tue, 22 Nov 2016 20:08:52 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (illness) was sick with the flu during the team's Week 11 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, and he received IV fluids throughout the game.

Fantasy Tip: Coming off his best game of the season (5-101-0 vs the 49ers in Week 10), Floyd managed just a pair of receptions for 21 yards against the Vikings. It's the continuation of a disappointing year for Floyd, who is only worth owning in deeper leagues.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd finally shows up

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 21:46:39 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd hauled in five receptions for 101 yards in the Week 10 game against the San Francisco 49ers. He was targeted six times.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd has been nearly non-existent in the Arizona offense this season, but this was certainly nice for his impatient fantasy owners. If you have stuck with him this long, keep him reserved at least one more game. He faces a tough Minnesota defense in Week 11, so the good times might not last. If they do, he can be trusted as a WR3 again.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd will play

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 09:15:44 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) is officially active for the team's Week 8 game.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd was considered a longshot before the game, but he will be on the field for the Cardinals. He will be a risky option for owners because of the injuries, and owners may want to consider healthier options to use in their lineups.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd unlikely to play

Sun, 30 Oct 2016 06:58:23 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) is considered a longshot to play in Week 8's game against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd returned to practice in a limited capacity Friday, Oct. 28, and was listed as questionable on the most recent injury report. His uncertain status and inconsistent play this year make him a very risky play for Week 8, so owners should look for safer options.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd questionable

Fri, 28 Oct 2016 15:25:06 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 28, and is listed as questionable for Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd has been a bit inconsistent this season but is coming off a 65-yard performance in Week 7 and has three touchdowns on the season. He could be a flex option in deeper leagues but could also be benched if owners have better options to use.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd absent

Thu, 27 Oct 2016 15:33:53 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) did not practice for a second straight day Thursday, Oct. 27.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd looks to be as questionable as a player can be just three days before game time. If Floyd misses practice again tomorrow then he could be due for a doubtful status. He's a risky option even if does play because he could be limited. Don't automatically bench him, though, especially with so many bye weeks in Week 8.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd nursing hamstring

Wed, 26 Oct 2016 20:15:38 -0700

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) missed practice Wednesday, Oct. 26, and head coach Bruce Arians indicated with Floyd and WR John Brown (illness) that "there's a possibility" one of the receivers misses the Week 8 game against the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd should be avoided in Week 8, even if he can play, as his production has been down and he just isn't racking up the targets like fantasy owners would like to see.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd misses practice

Wed, 26 Oct 2016 15:42:43 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to check on Floyd's status later in the week to see if he will be able to play. He has been a bit inconsistent this season but does have three touchdowns in seven games. He could be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option if he is active for the game.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd should play

Mon, 24 Oct 2016 14:45:55 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (hamstring) is expected to play in Week 8 despite suffering a hamstring injury in Week 7.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd has three touchdowns to his name this year, but he hasn't been as heavily as involved as expected before the season started. He hasn't surpassed five catches or 65 yards in any of the six games he's played. It may be inconvenient to bench him, but he's not a reliable starter right now.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd gets into end zone

Mon, 17 Oct 2016 21:24:00 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd had just two receptions for 22 yards in the Week 6 game against the New York Jets Monday, Oct. 17, but one of the catches was good for a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd has been missing in action in the Arizona offense lately, getting blanked in San Francisco last week. However, he still has a touchdown in three of his past five games. He'll get it going again. Floyd isn't worth using in most fantasy leagues in the active lineup right now, but he is worth stashing away if he is on the waiver wire.

Cardinals | No catches for Michael Floyd

Thu, 06 Oct 2016 21:03:11 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd finished with zero catches on three targets in a 33-21 win over the San Francisco 49ers Thursday, Oct. 6.

Fantasy Tip: It doesn't seem to matter who is under center for Arizona. Floyd continues to struggle with consistency, and at this point, you have no choice but to hold on to him and hope he turns things around.

Sun, 02 Oct 2016 22:02:38 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (concussion) was active in Week 4 against the Los Angeles Rams. He posted three grabs for 36 yards and a touchdown on seven targets.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd has managed just 12 receptions through the first four games and his season-high is 65 yards. However, he has managed a pair of touchdowns and is averaging nearly eight targets per game. He is a solid WR3 in most fantasy formats heading into Week 5 in San Francisco.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd struggling with consistency

Fri, 30 Sep 2016 21:11:23 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd continues to struggle with consistency in practice and games, according to head coach Bruce Arians. "He shines and then all of a sudden he'll drop an easy one," Arians said. "You just can't do that."

Fantasy Tip: After closing last season on a high note, Floyd hasn't been able to find his rhythm. He has time to turn it around, but he is a risky WR3 right now.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd appears on track to play in Week 4, but he has been unable to find a rhythm with Carson Palmer. He has been targeted 24 times in three games, but he has just nine catches. Leave him on the bench.

Wed, 28 Sep 2016 18:52:08 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (concussion) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 28, as he recovers from a concussion.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd's status for Week 4 against the Rams is up in the air. If he cannot play it would be good news for Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown, who would see a bump in targets. It's just mid-week, however, so don't write off Floyd just yet.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd could be cleared soon

Tue, 27 Sep 2016 17:46:42 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (concussion) could be cleared as early as Thursday, Sept. 29, according to head coach Bruce Arians. Floyd has already been cleared for non-contact activities.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd is one of the bigger names to keep an eye on heading into Week 4. If he stays limited in practice throughout the week then it could lead up to a game-time decision. If Floyd can't take the field, then John Brown would assume the No. 2 wide receiver position behind Larry Fitzgerald. In that case, Fitz would be worthy of PPR1 status, while Brown would make for a borderline WR2.

Cardinals | Michael Floyd in concussion protocol

Mon, 26 Sep 2016 12:32:41 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd (head) was cleared on the sideline to reenter the game in Week 3 Buffalo Bills, but he experienced a headache on Monday, Sept. 26, and entered the league's concussion protocol.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd has officially only missed one game in four seasons with the Cardinals, but he always seems to be struggling with injuries. With John Brown working through his own concussion issues, there may be work soon for Jaron Brown and J.J. Nelson. Larry Fitzgerald may be in line for a busy day in Week 4 versus the Los Angeles Rams and is a recommended DFS option for that contest.

Sun, 25 Sep 2016 14:15:20 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd caught four passes for 65 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 3.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd bounced back from a quiet Week 2 with 65 yards after he was targeted 11 times during the game. Floyd will have a solid role in Arizona's passing game as long as he is healthy and can be a No. 2 or No. 3 fantasy receiver against the Los Angeles Rams.

Wed, 24 Feb 2016 13:05:33 -0800

Arizona Cardinals WR Michael Floyd won't have a new deal right away, according to general manager Steve Keim. Floyd is entering the final year of his rookie deal.

Fantasy Tip: Floyd has put together three solid seasons in a row, averaging 54.6 catches, 910.3 yards and 5.6 touchdowns. Last year was especially impressive coming off three dislocated fingers he suffered in training camp last year. As for 2016, he's in low-end WR3 to high-end WR4 range.
