Red Sox | Xander Bogaerts has longest hit streak

Fri, 27 May 2016 10:44:02 -0700

Boston Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts now has the longest hitting streak in the major leagues at 19 games after teammate OF Jackie Bradley Jr.'s streak was snapped after 29 straight.

Fantasy Tip: The 23-year-old enjoyed a nice breakout campaign a year ago, and he's taken it a step further in 2016, as he currently holds a terrific .347/.401/.508 line through 46 ballgames. He also has almost as many home runs (five) as he did all of last season (seven). Keep firing him up if you were able to secure his services on draft day.

Red Sox | Dustin Pedroia, Xander Bogaerts starting

Thu, 26 May 2016 12:48:44 -0700

Updating previous reports, Boston Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) and SS Xander Bogaerts (thumb) are both in the starting lineup and batting second and third, respectively, against Colorado Rockies SP Jon Gray Thursday, May 26.

Fantasy Tip: It could be slightly risky relying on them in daily contests Thursday, but in seasonal leagues it is all systems go with the middle infield duo. Pedroia boasts a solid .304/.364/.470 slash line for the season, and Bogaerts is in the midst of an 18-game hitting streak.

Red Sox | Xander Bogaerts expected to be fine

Thu, 26 May 2016 09:12:08 -0700

Updating a previous report, Boston Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts (thumb) isn't expected to miss time after he suffered a cut on his right thumb Wednesday, May 25. "His right thumbnail bent back about half the way, so he's probably a little sore," manager John Farrell said. "But still, first read is that he'll be available again tomorrow."

Fantasy Tip: If you've ever experienced a thumbnail issue like that, you know it can be really sore the following day. Bogaerts is in the midst of an 18-game hitting streak, and it wouldn't be a surprise if he missed Thursday's game. Josh Rutledge, who is hitting .333 on the year, could see a start in his place and could be a low-end DFS play.

Red Sox | Xander Bogaerts has impressive streak

Tue, 24 May 2016 12:28:45 -0700

Boston Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts is in the midst of a 16-game hitting streak in which he is 29-for-72 (.403) with eight extra-base hits and 12 RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Bogaerts is slashing an impressive .346/.397/.495 with four home runs and 25 RBI on the year. At a shallow position, he's one of the top options around despite the lack of power. Continue running with him confidently in all formats.

Wed, 11 May 2016 21:58:56 -0700

Boston Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-5 with a run scored and two strikeouts Wednesday, May 11, against the Oakland Athletics.

Fantasy Tip: Bogaerts continues to handle the twig well against left-handed pitchers. He hit .424 (57-for-156) with eight doubles, a triple, two homers and 12 RBIs with an .892 OPS against left-handed pitching last season, and is a must-play in DFS leagues when facing southpaws.

Red Sox | More patience from Xander Bogaerts

Thu, 05 May 2016 11:05:16 -0700

Boston Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts has shown more patience at the plate in 2016, raising his walk rate from 4.9 to 8.8% this year. He's also shown some more power and is hitting extra-base hits at a higher rate (86%) than any qualified regular.

Fantasy Tip: Bogaerts is quietly becoming one of the most consistent all-around shortstops in fantasy and real life. While his extra-base prowess is on the rise, it hasn't contributed in the home run column (just one), and you shouldn't expect him to hit for double-digit long balls. But considering his improvements in plate patience, the rest is gravy at a shallow position.

Red Sox | Xander Bogaerts working on streak

Wed, 04 May 2016 23:10:33 -0700

Boston Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts went 3-for-4 with a walk, run scored and RBI Wednesday, May 4, against the Chicago White Sox to push his hitting streak to six games.

Fantasy Tip: Bogaerts is hitting .458 (11-for-24) during his impressive run, and remains a tremendous fantasy option in most formats, especially in DFS play, while running hot.

Red Sox | Three Boston hitters are hot

Tue, 03 May 2016 14:16:17 -0700

Boston Red Sox SS Xander Bogaerts is hitting .432/.519/.568 with 10 runs, six doubles and four RBI in his last 11 games. OF Jackie Bradley Jr. has hit in eight straight contests (11-for-30) with seven extra-base hits and nine RBI. 1B Hanley Ramirez has 13 hits in his last 42 at-bats (.310) with nine RBI.

Fantasy Tip: Obviously you'll want to keep all three of these players in your lineups, even though they're facing White Sox starter Jose Quintana, who has an ERA under 2.00, tonight. Bradley is excelling at the bottom of the lineup and is worth picking up for outfield depth in deep mixed leagues if he's available.
