Angels | Andrelton Simmons on a tear

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 15:15:17 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SS Andrelton Simmons had two more hits Sunday, July 24, and is hitting .404 since June 23.

Fantasy Tip: He's on fire, but he has no home runs and 11 RBI in that same span, which shows his limited offerings with the bat for fantasy owners. Because he lacks power and runs rarely, Simmons is basically a guy to own for middle infield depth in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Consider riding the hot hand as a value pick in DFS.

Angels | Hit streak ends for Andrelton Simmons

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 22:05:41 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SS Andrelton Simmons was hitless in three at-bats Saturday, July 16, against the Chicago White Sox to snap a 13-game hitting streak.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons is still hitting .385 over the past 14 games, so he remains a strong AL-only fantasy play and DFS option until he starts to cool off a bit more.

Angels | Andrelton Simmons just misses cycle

Tue, 05 Jul 2016 21:01:11 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SS Andrelton Simmons went 3-for-5 with a double, triple, three runs scored and three RBIs Tuesday, July 5, against the Tampa Bay Rays. He just missed hitting for the cycle by a home run.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons has been red hot in the month of July, posting 11 hits in 21 at-bats (.524) with three doubles, a triple and six RBIs with six runs scored. After missing plenty of time earlier in the season, he is making up for lost time. Fantasy owners in AL-only leagues, deeper mixed play and DFS will want him starting.

Angels | Andrelton Simmons sharp in return

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 23:27:04 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SS Andrelton Simmons (thumb) returned from a 34-game absence Wednesday, June 15, against the Minnesota Twins and looked sharp defensively and offensively. He finished 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI, while making three extraordinary plays on defense.

Fantasy Tip: It appears safe to plug Simmons back into the active fantasy lineup in AL-only leagues and deeper mixed formats, as he made it through the game fine and didn't show any rust.

Angels | Andrelton Simmons activated

Wed, 15 Jun 2016 15:28:16 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SS Andrelton Simmons (thumb) has been activated from the disabled list and inserted back into the lineup for Wednesday, June 15. He's starting at shortstop and batting ninth opposite Minnesota Twins SP Tyler Duffey. SS Brendan Ryan was designated for assignment as well.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons hasn't appeared in a game since May 8, and given his poor .219/.246/.281 line on the year, owners shouldn't be in a rush to get him back into lineups. Let Simmons settle in first before considering his services for deeper leagues.

Angels | Andrelton Simmons back Wednesday?

Tue, 14 Jun 2016 16:33:23 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SS Andrelton Simmons (thumb) is on his way back to Southern California and is expected to be activated from the disabled list Wednesday, June 15.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons has minimal fantasy value and should be left to AL-only leagues for middle infield depth. He was hitting just .219 with a homer and eight RBI before his injury. Gregorio Petit loses what little short-term value he had, but he could find playing time alongside Johnny Giavotella at second base.

Angels | Andrelton Simmons, Daniel Nava playing

Mon, 13 Jun 2016 15:12:10 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SS Andrelton Simmons (thumb) and OF Daniel Nava (groin) are both playing for Class AAA Salt Lake Monday, June 13.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons and Nava are low-end options in cavernous mixed and AL-only formats, as they sit with .219/.246/.281 and .222/.286/.311 slash lines, respectively. Their returns will likely end what little fantasy value Todd Cunningham and Gregorio Petit currently have.

Angels | Andrelton Simmons won't return this weekend

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 23:51:12 -0700

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SS Andrelton Simmons (thumb) will not be activated this weekend according to manager Mike Scioscia.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons' .219-1-8 line wasn't exactly setting the fantasy world ablaze, and it's obviously his glove that keeps him in the lineup. He has a little appeal as middle infield depth in AL-only leagues, but that's the extent of it.

Angels | Andrelton Simmons close to return

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 14:28:02 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SS Andrelton Simmons (thumb) will play at least two more games for Class AAA Salt Lake, but he could still come off the disabled list this weekend, according to manager Mike Scioscia.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons was sporting an ugly slash line of .219/.246/.281 with a homer and eight RBI before his injury, and he remains a very unattractive fantasy option unless you need middle infield depth in AL-only leagues. Simmons' main value comes in real life for his glove.

Angels | Andrelton Simmons gets day off

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 21:59:50 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SS Andrelton Simmons (thumb) was scheduled for a day off Wednesday, June 8, after playing successive minor-league rehab games with Class A Inland Empire.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons might be able to return in the next few days, but fantasy owners will want to play it safe and keep him reserved until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game or two without any setbacks.
