Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons is 11-for-22 with four doubles, two home runs, six RBIs and just two strikeouts in his last five games. He is 8-for-20 as the No. 2 hitter with a strikeout and a walk, while the rest of the team in the two hole is a combined 12-for-108 (.111) with 34 strikeouts and 15 walks.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons is scorching hot right now and has proven that he can bring his stick to play along with his leather. He's emerging as one of the best young shortstops in the National League, and he should be owned in a high number of mixed leagues as either your shortstop or for middle infield depth.

Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons hit two home runs and drove in a career-high four runs Monday, May 6, for the first multi-homer game of his young career. Simmons worked on staying back a little longer at the plate over the weekend in order to generate more power to his swing. He has four homers on the season, and he has six multi-hit games in his last 14 contests.

Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons (thumb) is back in the lineup Monday, April 8, but OF B.J. Upton is in the leadoff spot. Simmons is hitting eighth against the Miami Marlins. Simmons went 3-for-17 with a double, walk, a stolen base and a .222 on-base percentage in four games in the leadoff spot. Upton was 3-for-6 with a home run, two stolen bases, three walks and no strikeouts in two games at leadoff over the weekend. Manager Fredi Gonzalez is playing it day-to-day with his lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez said moving Upton up to leadoff also made more sense with Freddie Freeman (oblique) on the disabled list. It's unknown if this will continue, but based off Upton's weekend performance, it's a good bet.

Fantasy Tip: Simmmons could miss a few games because of the injury but it does not appear to be a serious injury.

Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons is expected to hit leadoff this season now that OF Michael Bourn is no longer on the team. Simmons had 106 at-bats in the eighth spot and 41 at-bats while hitting seventh last year. However, he has extensive experience hitting leadoff in the minors, and he said it's not that big of a difference. "I don't have to be more aggressive now, and that's going to be good for me," he said., "Sometimes in the eight-hole, you don't want the pitcher to hit with two outs and the runner on second…. I think it's going to be better. And there will be a bunch of guys hitting behind me who are really good."

Atlanta Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Friday, Jan. 25, that he envisions SS Andrelton Simmons serving at the top of his lineup, with OF Jason Heyward batting second and OF Justin Upton filling the third spot in the batting order.

The Atlanta Braves are seriously discussing a trade for Arizona Diamondbacks OF Justin Upton Wednesday, Jan. 23, and they are believed to have made an offer packaged around young pitching. However, the Braves won't be parting with SS Andrelton Simmons in any deal for Upton, according to sources. The D-backs asked for Simmons earlier this offseason.
