Angels | Jose Briceno acquired from ATL

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 17:48:20 -0800

Updating a previous report, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have also acquired C Jose Briceno from the Atlanta Braves, along with SS Andrelton Simmons, to complete a deal for SS Erick Aybar, Ps Sean Newcomb and Chris Ellis and cash considerations.

Fantasy Tip: The 23-year-old Briceno is not considered a major prospect. He hit .183 with four home runs and 20 RBIs in 311 at-bats for Class A Carolina last season and has no fantasy value.

Braves | Atlanta acquires Erick Aybar, pitchers

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 15:58:08 -0800

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SS Erick Aybar was acquired by the Atlanta Braves Thursday, Nov. 12, in exchange for SS Andrelton Simmons. The Braves also acquired P Sean Newcomb, P Chris Ellis and cash considerations.

Fantasy Tip: Aybar likely will be the starting shortstop for the Braves this season, while Newcomb likely will be part of the pitching staff in some role. Aybar could be a middle infield option in deeper leagues next season because of his consistent playing time. Newcomb could be an option in NL-only and keeper leagues.

Angels | Andrelton Simmons acquired by Angels

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 15:57:05 -0800

Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons was acquired by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Thursday, Nov. 12, in exchange for SS Erick Aybar, P Sean Newcomb, P Chris Ellis and cash considerations.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons should be the Angels' everyday shortstop after the trade, but it probably will not affect his fantasy value for the 2016 season. Simmons could be a middle infield option in deeper mixed leagues next season but probably should not be a shortstop option.

Rockies | Colorado not in on Andrelton Simmons

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 14:43:52 -0800

Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons is not a trade target of the Colorado Rockies, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons hit 17 home runs during the 2013 season, but he has hit just 11 since, and he owns a .252 batting average over his past three seasons. He is a low-end middle infield option in deep mixed leagues, and nothing more than a mid-tier shortstop in NL/AL-only leagues. Continue to check back for updates, as it appears Simmons is likely to wear a new uniform in 2016.

Angels | Halos in talks for Andrelton Simmons

Thu, 12 Nov 2015 05:47:25 -0800

Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons is the subject of conversations with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons' bat has lagged behind, but he's a premier defender. Of course, that doesn't help his fantasy value except that it'll keep him in the lineup. Simmons has room to grow and is an option for the MI spot late in drafts.

Atlanta Braves OF Cameron Maybin, SS Andrelton Simmons, OF Nick Markakis, 1B Nick Swisher and C A.J. Pierzynski are not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of the doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, Oct. 4.

Fantasy Tip: With nothing on the line, look for some of these players to possibly pinch-hit, but otherwise their regular season is over. Leave them out of your FantasyScore lineup.

Braves | Andrelton Simmons out Tuesday

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 12:20:45 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons (ankle) is out Tuesday, Sept. 1, due to right ankle inflammation. SS Daniel Castro was recalled from Class AAA to start tonight's game, and he is hitting eighth against Miami Marlins SP Justin Nicolino.

Fantasy Tip: Simmons ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) should be monitored closely for your FantasyScore preparations. The fact Castro was recalled doesn't necessarily mean anything bad for Simmons, because Tuesday was the day to expand rosters from 25 to 40 players.

Braves | Andrelton Simmons moved up the order

Mon, 31 Aug 2015 12:34:03 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons is batting second against Miami Marlins SP Chris Narveson Monday, Aug. 31.

Fantasy Tip: Bump Simmons ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) up a peg in your daily rankings Monday. He receives a nice boost hitting atop the lineup, and he does so in a plus-matchup. He checks out as a solid low-priced option at shortstop for FantasyScore players Monday.

Braves | Andrelton Simmons returns Tuesday

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 14:33:49 -0700

Atlanta Braves SS Andrelton Simmons (knee) is returning to the lineup against the Colorado Rockies Tuesday, Aug. 25, after missing two games with a sore knee.

Fantasy Tip: Many folks will likely avoid Simmons ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) because of his recent injury or for the fact he hasn't been much of an offensive force in 2015. Don't blindly avoid him, though, as he could be a successful sleeper pick against the hittable Chad Bettis.
